Not a thing bought?

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 19/12/2020 17:44

Do you mean presents or food?

WorraLiberty · 19/12/2020 17:44

I think the new rules will put immense pressure on the supermarkets here (Tier 4), as there'll be loads of people who didn't buy a turkey etc, thinking they were having Christmas dinner with a family member.

FredtheCatsMum · 19/12/2020 17:46

Small chickens, for 1-2 people, say 1.5kg or so, are in very short supply (based on a comprehensive study of my local butcher 😀)

newwnamme · 19/12/2020 17:46

If you've left it this late, this year of all years, you've got noone but yourself to blame.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 19/12/2020 17:47

Which tier are you in?

WingingWonder · 19/12/2020 17:47

Turkeys are on sale from now in M&S, tomorrow in Waitrose and sainos and I think mo day at Asda

Maybe she’s been busy.

Maybe she’s been waiting for payday.

newwnamme · 19/12/2020 17:50

It's not surprise that christmas is coming. There have been 12 paydays since the last one!

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 19/12/2020 17:51

Bless you- we have too, my partner started a new job after being layed off from his hospitality job, first paycheck is christmas eve- its going to be a very busy Christmas eve! Good luck!

BaublesToIt · 19/12/2020 17:54

No we have a turkey, tree and crackers for the table.

It’s just the rest of it!

I had decided to do a big present/stocking filler shop tomorrow as I haven’t had a car this week.

M&S and Waitrose in Glasgow has loads of turkeys, veggies etc. Get into a shop tomorrow and get what you need!

BaublesToIt · 19/12/2020 17:56

I have 3 presents in the house. 6 due to be delivered.

I just need another 30 odd more.

I did a bloody list and everything Angry.

Are you in tier 4 now then?

How does that help you to buy fresh items with dates after the 25th that aren't in the shops yet Confused

I went shopping today and couldn't find and veg with long enough dates, have I somehow failed on the Christmas planning front?

BaublesToIt · 19/12/2020 17:58

Sorry were in Tier 4 now so all non essential shops shut!

And the flipping gym which is much worse.

BashfulClam · 19/12/2020 18:00

@PleasantVille I found the sand yesterday but today I managed to get veg etc dated till after Christmas.

Naijamama · 19/12/2020 18:01

Who are you buying for? Will vouchers suffice for adults? Most of the supermarkets are selling a good selection of those. Toys are available in the supermarkets, now Sainsbury's has Argos in a lot of stores, they will be open for click and collect. Relax, it's not ideal, but totally doable.

I'm going back tomorrow hoping for the same, I need veg for the 26th too but don't want to be going every day to check

PandemicPalava · 19/12/2020 18:04

Will Amazon be any help? Also vouchers and maybe for children if they game, some Robux or equivalent? Wine? I'm sure everyone will understand, it's proper crap. Lots of lovely stuff in the supermarkets

Persipan · 19/12/2020 18:05

I on the other hand have a house full of presents for people it now appears I won't be seeing, but very little food (well, very little festive food anyway; the Brexit cupboard is pretty healthy) since I wasn't expecting to be here. Sigh. Looks like it'll be just me and the baby, most likely, and to be honest cooking anything complicated around him is a bit hit and miss, so I may be heading for a rather toast-heavy Christmas...

shamus2020 · 19/12/2020 18:08

In past years I've done all my Xmas present shopping in Tesco on Xmas Eve Confused plus it's all reduced now so win win. It's doable op they have everything really.

newwnamme · 19/12/2020 18:13

If its vegetables the op is lacking, I was assuming shops selling those will be open regardless of location?

Toddlerteaplease · 19/12/2020 18:14

I wonders about the extra pressure caused by people now having to food shop when they weren't planning to.
