Booze and shit food - the year of covid.

What a shit year.

Is everyone else stuffing themselves with wine/gin/pizza just to get themselves through?

I can't quite face the idea of cutting down on these things just yet. Maybe after Christmas.

I go through periods of where I order a ton of takeout food and think “Shit, I can’t afford this” and then pull back. I actually haven’t been drinking that much during this time either. One friend hasn’t had a drink in 8 months but she had COVID symptoms way at the beginning and now has long term Covid.

Britishmanagersclub · 16/12/2020 18:05

I can't even think about cutting down this side of Christmas. I work from home in my living room, wine feels like the only thing separating the work day from the weekend right now, with no moving about or commute.

I think we all deserve the wine this year.

jay55 · 16/12/2020 18:07

Living alone I've been very conscious not to fall into drinking too much, or too often. But yes to all the shit food. Pizza, cookies, bacon sarnies.

I've virtually given up drinking during the pandemic. Booze just doesn't agree with me any more. Lost weight during the first lockdown due to lots of walking, put a bit back on during second lockdown. Not really eating much differently than usual.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/12/2020 18:14

Yes. It's the only thing enjoyable for me at the moment. I will start cutting back in the new year.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 16/12/2020 18:15

I am teetotal due to a history of addiction in my family and a depressive streak, however I have massively indulged in comfort food. Not good as I am already very overweight- although I haven't put much on despite the indulgences! -and type 2 diabetic. I am absolutely not going to bother doing anything about it for the whole of December as quite frankly it's grim enough without carb and calorie counting but will attempt to sort it out in January.

TheGremlinsAreComing · 16/12/2020 18:20

Far too much shit food in this house. More alcohol than other years but mostly on a weekend - wine or gin..or Baileys now it's nearly Christmas. I never normally do a New Years resolution 'new year new me' type thing but I might have to in 2021 Xmas Blush

MrsMaryClausFace · 16/12/2020 18:41

God yes. More time to cook lovely carb-laden things, booze most nights, less daily movement. Oh how I wish I was one of the ones who used this time wisely to lose weight and get fit 🤣

Redcherries · 16/12/2020 20:24

I’ve just decided at this stage to be that January new year new me person. Too much wine is my problem, never been a big eater, but being cev and pretty much stuck at home constantly (as in no work next day or commitments/need to drive) my wine intake has gone way up.

Ghostlyglow · 16/12/2020 21:19

I keep thinking I'll have a night when I don't drink - I never doGrin.

Nowaynothappening · 16/12/2020 21:23

I’ve eaten my weight in cheese and chilli jam toasties this year. Will sort it out next year...

TheGremlinsAreComing · 16/12/2020 21:32

Definitely won't be making any changes now, January though..

Britishmanagersclub · 16/12/2020 21:47

Has anyone noticed a serious change in appearance?! My god I look like I've aged a decade in 10 months. I'm only about 10lb heavier but good grief I look terrible.

Britishmanagersclub · 16/12/2020 21:48

(Can't be anything to do with all the naan/curry/biscuits/wine though)

thenightsky · 16/12/2020 21:51

I've put on a stone since April Sad That's on top of the half stone I put on last Xmas and never got around to losing.

TheGremlinsAreComing · 16/12/2020 22:08

Yes. This. I can't quite reconcile with how much I seem to have aged this year.
Ghostlyglow · 17/12/2020 19:52

I've put on a stone and I look so tired.

Britishmanagersclub · 17/12/2020 20:09

According to my piece of shit scales I've put on another 4lbs in the last fortnight. I think they're broken.

TheGremlinsAreComing · 17/12/2020 21:05

I've put a stone on. Which is crap because I'd lost weight last year, regained confidence after my shitty marriage, and had decided 2020 was the year I'd consider starting to date again. Ha.

ForTheLoveOfCatFood · 17/12/2020 21:16

Yup Grin

ForTheLoveOfCatFood · 17/12/2020 21:18

Just discovered salted caramel baileys too so I’m screwed..,

TheGremlinsAreComing · 17/12/2020 21:22

Now I need salted caramel Baileys

Mammyloveswine · 17/12/2020 21:23

I'm isolating and have ordered greggs every day this week...

whatswithtodaytoday · 17/12/2020 21:27

I've put on a stone too, and have aged terribly. I don't even recognise myself in my phone camera - the mirror isn't too bad, but I look like my (very overweight) uncle when caught unawares! 😕

I never usually diet in January as it's just too depressing, but this year I'm going to have to. I know I should start right now, but we have a house full of Christmas food and four days left of work... it feels impossible.

I just want to look and feel like me again.

TheGremlinsAreComing · 17/12/2020 21:34

How have we managed to age so much? I look haggard 90% of the time. I haven't needed to wear makeup as often this year and thought it would give my skin a lovely break, but it seems to have had the opposite effect!

And yeah I have a houseful of food now so no point even trying to cut down until the new year. January diet Sad
