What a shit year.

Is everyone else stuffing themselves with wine/gin/pizza just to get themselves through?

I can't quite face the idea of cutting down on these things just yet. Maybe after Christmas.

I never liked wine until October. I love mulled wine regularly. The lockdown nearly turned me into an alcoholic.

Hassled · 17/12/2020 21:40

I'm drinking white wine like it's lemonade and surviving largely on Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli peanuts. It's really not a winning combination.

TheGremlinsAreComing · 17/12/2020 21:44

I had a sort through my emails last night and I was horrified when I saw how many times I've used foodhub, Pizza Hut and Uber eats.

I have a friend who sends me a crate of wine every time he orders one for himself, with a tag saying 'if I'm going down I'm taking you with me' Grin

It's not great is it Confused

Oh god yes me too.

We've been having stuff like lasagne, apple crumble, chicken general tao for suppers.

Minced beef and mushroom pie tonight, with roasties and veg.

Has anyone noticed a serious change in appearance?!

^^

Raises hand. I don't get mistaken for the nanny anymore put it that way

First lockdown I piled the weight on. Basically deal and ate what I wanted for three month's. Started working out in July, weights, cardio etc and I've lost 2.5 stone. I'm 39 with three kids so gets harder to lose. Currently renovating our home so have had a few drinks this week. I think I may just enjoy the next two weeks and get back on it in January.

Can I have your friend?

@Nowaynothappening not the point of this thread - but you’ve just inspired me to order chilli jam - now I’m after a toast is maker

Britishmanagersclub · 18/12/2020 16:42

I'm quite shocked at what I see in the mirror compared to my holiday photos last autumn. I look slim (in comparison) and happy and tanned in those. Now I look pale and puffy and my skin tone is blotchy and horrible. I say as I'm drinking Belgian beer at 4.45pm.

LegoPandemic · 18/12/2020 16:46

Totally. We are SI now to see relatives after Christmas and we have a houseful of wine, fizz and nice food. Only managing 2 alcohol free days too.
Will have to try harder in January but I think if we are still lockdown, no fun and Brexit I will carry on tbh.
Once I have a holiday booked I’ll go on a diet then.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/12/2020 16:52

WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC Hmm

Do what you need to do Grin

DuckonaBike · 18/12/2020 17:51

But lots of things people are describing as “shit food” (pizza, lasagne, apple crumble) are actually jolly nice. I think we should remember that.

I haven’t got any fatter (WFH so more time to run) but I do seem to have got older. It may be the anxiety, or perhaps the drink.

FestiveDigestives · 18/12/2020 17:53

Quit drinking at the start of the first lockdown, but I needed to as I was drinking way too much and had been for a few years. As a result gave lost a stone.

I will be eating a lot of shit over the next week or so, though, and I make no apologies for it! Bring on the sugar, cheese and carbs!

MerinoFroggie · 18/12/2020 19:08

I was very good during the first lockdown. My job eased up on the amount of hours I was working and I got a better work life balance. I was in home for about 5 or 6 most evenings. Before that it would be any time of the evening or night so it was all work, work, work before the last lockdown.

The extra time was beautiful and it was a breather to be given space outside of work. I began excerising and eating better.

It didn't take long for work to reverse to its old ways and by August, it was business as usual - work from morning til evening sometimes late and it was just long days.

Everything all fell to sh1t for the winters lockdown for me. I found the winters lockdown very hard. I'm usually a bright and positive person but the winters lockdown was very hard.

Sorry, I've forgotten who mentioned salted caramel Baileys on the thread but I just bought some haha Grin
