I am pleased that Harry and Meghan are making a success of things.

It’s been such an eventful year for everyone with uncertainty and being pulled out of our normal way of life. It’s good to see people who left what might be considered a “golden cage” and find a way to fly.

It gives me hope and confidence that even though we may not have connections and gorgeous looks, we can step out and do things differently and still be ok

@Samcro I don't think it's hate though, that's twisting it.

It's like you can comment on anyone else but woe betide you if you comment on H&M. Not the store.

did you not see the 20 million threads ripping them apart??

@Samcro

Op you must have known that starting a thread about Meghan would bring the hate on.
🙄 all discussion of M&H is labelled "hate" by certain posters who show up on every MM discussion and then once the idea that fairly mundane discussion is "hate" has been introduced, the thread is ultimately deleted. It almost seems purposeful...
laudemio · 17/12/2020 10:53

I haven't seen hate, just weary eye rolling at these self appointed wannabe experts at life. I've got a lot of time for the Obamas who have actually achieved something. But these two... a feminist who achieved her current status by marrying into one of the most archaic institutions on earth, and a barefoot ecowarrior who lives in a massive house and travels by private jet. How inspiring!

Frownette · 17/12/2020 11:50

This is ludricrous, any hint of 'criticism' (critical analysis) is dismissed as bring 'hate'.

So ask yourself why blind adoration is permitted, but not freedom of speech, @Samcro?

What do you have to gain?

Positivity, inspiration and kindness ladies.

Frownette · 17/12/2020 12:02

@Arthersleep

Positivity, inspiration and kindness ladies.
So that means people being allowed to express an opinion? And finding inspiration where they do, not being dictated to where they should find it?

And finding kindness outside of multi millionaires?

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 12:35

Hey samcro, I don’t get the extreme dislike either, or the conviction that you have have a hidden agenda/ are a troll if you like them 😃

Monkey peas, nought wrong with being ambitious and wanting it on your own terms.

I have no idea why they chose each other. Like all of us, I imagine it was a range of feelings and motivations. Nothing is ever black or white. I think mixed cultural marriages can be hard and I’m glad that they are giving it a good go. They seem happy with each other and I think are fully qualified to talk bout kindness, online bullying and hate. In fact more qualified than many!

I wonder if their first Spotify (and thanks pp for the kind correction) will be with an American and their story? Or will they pick someone they met in their international travels?

They were not kind to the Queen. They chose showponying over comrades. And if describing their family as toxic isn’t hateful then I don’t know what is. More so when they know they won’t respond. The privilege was smashing as long as they got their own way. And as for lecturing people? You have to be squeaky before you dare to do that.

But hey, this is all sweetness and light huh? So I will have a skank brew that will probably cause my intestines to seize up but will allow me to be able to afford the shopping for a fortnight.

Frownette · 17/12/2020 12:58

Sooo...we're not allowed to talk about personal opinion or where we find kindness or inspiration. We can find it where we want to, not where we're dictated to.

No one mentioned 'cultural' marriages aside from you.

No I don't admire them, don't take inpiration from them, do not think that they're kind or talented. Don't like listening to them.

Why do you?

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 13:13

Frownette, you can talk about anything here, the conversation has gone in all directions 😃

Cultural aspects do have some bearing I think, what might seem normal “be all that you can be” in America might seem pushy and non-modest here.

OP posts:
SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 17/12/2020 13:16

It doesn’t seem to be pushy and immodest.

It is pushy and immodest.

Be all that you can be as long as you pay big dollar though.

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 13:18

And I’m not sure I listen to them, as such. I am curious about whom they will bring to their podcast. They have had exposure to a massively diverse group of people given their different backgrounds and international travels. They have probably met more people than most of us have.

And they could have input front Oprah’s outreach network as well.

It will be really interesting to see whom they bring on and what stories and perspectives these guests share

Huh? 😂 translation in plain English please 😃

WiseOwlWan · 17/12/2020 13:32

I dont hate them. They hold on to their titles and makes a muppet out of the queen imo

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 17/12/2020 13:33

It was in plain English. What words are you struggling with?

gottakeeponmovin · 17/12/2020 14:25

They and her particularly she - are just awful, attention seeking dickheads

peaceanddove · 17/12/2020 16:56

How kind was it of Harry to sack off his meeting with the Royal Marines so he could attend the Disney premiere in order to pimp out Meghan's services as a voice over artist?

I literally said ambition was no bad thing 🤨

But it sticks in people’s throats when someone says they’re giving it all up for a life of doing good works under the royal family mantle along with a saintly expression.

Then 30 seconds after marrying, comeup with some bullshit excuse to leave and be seen pitching for work.

Of course someone is entitled to change their mind but no one believes that is what happened

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 17:36

@Monkeypeas, sorry I mean to say I agree with you that there is nothing wrong with having ambition.

OP posts:
WiseOwlWan · 17/12/2020 17:42

Ambition is about hard work though. It is not capitalising on deals only given to you because of who you are. I see them as ruthless and greedy not ambitious.

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 18:51

Wise that’s the difference, I think. I see them as willing to work hard, and I imagine Megs must have worked hard on her previous career. The media industry can be gruelling and to reach the level she had (even though it was middling, not an a grade one) requires lots of graft and constant effort.

I wonder if they have taken too much in their plate! Just managing the Netflix production or the Spotify one is a full time job! But doing both and what ever else is on their plate with a young family and a recent move/settling in is a lot.

That’s why I can’t get the lazy comments. If she was lazy, she would have sat back and spent her time painting her nails and become a lunching lady with a few ribbon cutting and photo ops thrown in. Nothing wrong with that of course. But she has done the opposite. I think it may be that she found the RF world too small. Not that her ambitions are too big.

And I think she is willing to use everything, her assets, hard work and experience to achieve her dreams. It may not be your cup of tea, but it is a positive message for many young girls to not let their environment define and limit them.

@WiseOwlWan - I don't think it's a case of who they are, just that the Americans LOVE a titled royal and British accent, MM knew that, was a piss poor z lister actress that almost nobody knew before she decided to nail the royal, then start causing toxicity in their family too ... like in her own family (lowest common denominator and ... how many came to the wedding?! ) then with her new badge of honour fucked off back to Hollywood ASAP with her new 'hey look what I did banner' and here we are - she's fucked over the royals, stolen their identity to get ahead, fuxking disgusting - Queen will know, hopefully she'll sort them out so they stop leaching off the world using the royal brand
