I am pleased that Harry and Meghan are making a success of things.

It’s been such an eventful year for everyone with uncertainty and being pulled out of our normal way of life. It’s good to see people who left what might be considered a “golden cage” and find a way to fly.

It gives me hope and confidence that even though we may not have connections and gorgeous looks, we can step out and do things differently and still be ok

I don’t see how sharing other people’s stories is lecturing?

I’m just a normal mumsnetter who is happy for them. Just as I would be for anyone who left a bullying job or a toxic relationship and found their feet.

The people who mentioned about who was toxic etc, I haven’t followed the personal dynamics or book. I have no views on it other than these things are complex and all we can do is respect how people feel.
What feels like bullying to one person may not to another. And what seems toxic to one person may seem trivial to another. We see this on mumsnet often “am I overreacting?” And the answer is usually no, ltb. Well, here they did.

And I’m glad they are ok.

@Happyforthem - the lecturing I was talking about, a d many others, is the bollocks about global, environment issues, yet swanning around in gas guzzlers, personal jets and living in mansions - the ducking irony and 'you all need to do this .... #not us f course because we're not plebs like you lot

Also, what on earth gives a half arsed Z list actress who pretty much nobody knew until she bagged herself a royal boyfriend, and a very privileged yet somewhat dim royal the right to lecture people on global issues... hat they know bugger all about!

It's disgusting also they're making huge amounts of money from:-
Charging charities for their endorsement
Abusing their royal tiles (please Queen, take them away before they embarrass us more)
Getting money from the Royal/British status
Getting money from selling other people's stories
Have the audacity to stand in front of poor African communities and bleat on about how their lives are so stressful and hard

So many more examples I don't have time to write about

They're an embarrassment

Righto. Methinks you protest too much.
ImAncient · 17/12/2020 07:49

Are you on their payroll? Bullying & toxic RF my arse.

Happy to take everything & use the name. Thought they wanted a quiet life? I don’t mind if that’s what they actually did want. And no trading on RF name. But the they both just seem to want the limelight.

LittleBearPad · 17/12/2020 07:52

Okey dokey Wink

Nishky · 17/12/2020 07:52

@Happyforthem you say you are British but spell adviser ‘advisor’

‘Twirls moustache’

This sums it up for me. Most people don't care m what they think, they're not qualified to be some kind of moderator to the masses and I find it immensely arrogant and quite baffling that they've assumed this mantle for themselves. I don't care what they did or didn't do around the royal family or her Dad etc etc I genuinely don't, her sister was beyond tiresome with her silly, tedious stories and certain members of the royals have behaved horribly at times over the years. I just don't want to be lectured and pontificated at by these two chumps!

isitspringyet · 17/12/2020 07:58

Think I’ll stick to Rangan Chatergees podcasts and avoid these twos..it’s clear the us market is their target not us Brits.. the use of the word holidays ugh. I won’t be listening

WiseOwlWan · 17/12/2020 08:11

Yes if they recognised themselves for who they are , i wouldnt feel this visceral distaste for them. If they had kept their heads down in real jobs for a few years they would have earned some respect. But they dont get it. You can skip through all of the living and learning and then present yourselves as wise and having all the answers.

What they prove to me is that they cannot read the room. My god even the pope can read the room better than harry and meghan.

WiseOwlWan · 17/12/2020 08:13

I feel I could advise them. Most of us feel like that.

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 08:13

@Nishky 😃 good detective work there but I assure you I am British. Lived across the pond but happily home now.

And to pp, so what if they said they wanted a quiet life and are now living it up? People change their minds all the time.

I also don’t get the anger about them using their connections and royal titles...why shouldn’t they? If they are called prince, duchess whatever, it is no skin off my back. It’s not like you or I could get these titles if they were taken off these two, so they are not depriving anyone by hanging on to these 😃

And if it helps them gain financial independence, well that’s a plus.

I look forward to their Sporify podcast. I wonder how many of these have already been made and who are the guests?

They'll be painfully boring because although mm is beautiful, they are not charismatic people. When they talk, people feel either 1) eeek this is so awkward 2) what the f word salad 3) other people have said this better 4) are they for real telling us to care about the environment when they have 16 toilets

Principessa2070 · 17/12/2020 08:18

If this is Harry and/or Meghan, can you please stop rubbing your life in our faces, you wanted out of the firm, so surely we should not be hearing a peep out of you?

Granny would have done well to completely remove titles and boot you out.

WiseOwlWan · 17/12/2020 08:19

I have tried a few times to listen to mm because i wanted to know if she was just giving off that vibe of self importance. But no, i listened. As a listener i did not feel inspired in anyway. I felt something jarred quite badly in fact.

Arthersleep · 17/12/2020 08:24

Ladies, we need to keep this thread full of positivity and inspiration.

Let's start the day with a little festive bru.
A Mongolian oat milk vegan latte, with the antioxidant properties of single source organic essence of Brussel sprouts, powered by grilled meat and pummeled using the natural curve of the underside of the foot. I call this blend Foot Arche wll.

Guaranteed to start your day with a zing. Full of the natural feminist vegan healing properties of beef with mind sharpening adaptigens. What better way to start the day!

Nishky · 17/12/2020 08:41

@Happyforthem I knew it! Grin

Slightly jealous - have never been to the US - would love to visit New York!

Frownette · 17/12/2020 08:46

@WiseOwlWan I like the word jarred.

Anyway back to our colons : and ultra pricey woke drinks.

Happyforthem · 17/12/2020 09:21

Nisky, I love NY too 😊 The restaurants were amazing, and I like the diners with their casual friendliness and unlimited coffee. But nothing beats a good British pub!

MM strikes me as the type who will spin everything she does as a reason to pontificate to others. If they ever split get ready for another 'conscious uncoupling' like Gwynneth Paltrow. Nothing wrong with this exactly but it is personality trait that some people find nauseating. It's quite a LA thing, that boho, guru type style.

Monkeypeas · 17/12/2020 09:33

Meghan spent some time with Sophie Wessex and realised that was her future.

“Just” being the wife of the brother of the future king. And she thought ‘nah, a life of relative obscurity (relative to other royals) just doing royal visits to some school or hospital once in a while. NO thank you.’

She’s always been super ambitious (no bad thing) to be super famous (whatever floats your boat) and so saw an opportunity to be both royal and Hollywood royalty.

Why do you think they wanted to retain the Sussex Royal branding? If they genuinely wanted a quiet life, they could have achieved that by as above being like the Wessex’s or stepping out and living in Canada.

But a) the protection required for Harry and Archie doesn’t come cheap, nor does life when you have to pay your own bills and don’t want to downgrade too much from palaces.
And b) it’s fairly boring if no one is interested in you

Samcro · 17/12/2020 09:40

Op you must have known that starting a thread about Meghan would bring the hate on.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/12/2020 09:43

I look forward to their Spotify podcasts (I corrected that for you, what a good sport I am...)

Have fun being patronised. 😃

C130 · 17/12/2020 09:59

@Samcro

Op you must have known that starting a thread about Meghan would bring the hate on.
Not to mention the bitterness, envy and bile from some people. It is so tiresome and sad.
Arthersleep · 17/12/2020 10:04

I also have a special under the counter chill out version of my Foot Arch Wll blend, using a little organic cannabis left over from her first wedding. A small amount of this powerful adaptogen helps to adapt standards and productivity downwards, particularly with regards to cleaning and household chores. Enjoy a relaxing brew and put your feet up. It's good for the sole!
