WTF???

So many questions 😂 like why does one of the kids wear sports gear all the time instead of school uniform like everyone else?

Also ist's up for one of the top Christmas films on radio 2. Why though?

Watch Nativity 2, it's even better!
It's DS1 (4.5) favourite movie, I've seen it about 4 times this month Grin

elephantoverthehill · 12/12/2020 22:39

Because it is brilliant and so funny.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 12/12/2020 22:40

Oh Nativity is brill in a WTF kinda way 😂

The vast majority of it was improvised by all the actors including the kids. They were given direction for the scene and were told to make the words up themselves. Which I think adds to the charm of the movie.

Only thing I don't get is why did the girlfriend go to LA if she was only being given a PA job?! Did she think she was getting a producer role and was tricked?

CherryValanc · 12/12/2020 22:50

Ah it's brilliant and totally nuts.

I only recall one boy wearing sports gear though - but I'm sure it's for the same reason there's a mix of ages in the class, and two children go to the states without parental permission.

It's all this nonsensical madness that make it what it is.

hm246 · 12/12/2020 22:53

I love this film.

One bit drives me crazy though. When Mr poppy has told the media that it will be filmed for Hollywood, all the press, children and other teachers are at school and Martin freeman’s character is just chilling eating his breakfast. Are they all super early or is he just late Grin

dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 12/12/2020 22:54

The Health and Safety breaches in Nativity 2 have to be seen to be believed.....I always worry about the poor baby in the endless trek to the Competition in the castle in Wales.
I haven't watched 3 yet but I plan to.

BackforGood · 12/12/2020 22:56

A wonderful film, but one you definitely don't want to start over thinking Grin

Meredusoleil · 12/12/2020 22:57

Love love love this film. It is a bit sad though. Nativity 2 is funnier and even more crazy. If that's possible to believe! Nativity 3 and 4 are good too. We love all the films so much, we went to see the live show back in December last year before all the theatres shot down. Mr Poppy is totally bonkers in all of them. But I do love the kids singing 😍

ILikeStrongTea · 12/12/2020 22:58

Love them all!

ShinyGreenElephant · 12/12/2020 23:06

We love Nativity! I'd love to work in that school

RightOnTheEdge · 12/12/2020 23:07

musicalfrog my dd asked the same question.

My question was the same as hm246

Most of it doesn't make sense!

It's bonkers but brilliant Grin

Coffeeandcrumpet · 12/12/2020 23:11

1 2 and awesome 3 OK 4 is 2 hours of my life I will never get back. But yes lots of wtf moments but the kids love it.

mrsbyers · 12/12/2020 23:13

Sparkle and Shine

Watching this with my niece is the start of Christmas for me , new matching pj’s and a sleepover - probably won’t happen this year though

Ratatcat · 12/12/2020 23:21

I watched it for the first time ever last night and loved it. I don’t know how I missed it before but i found it really funny. - partly because I’ve been following a few local schools on social media and it does look like there is genuine nativity competition. One of the local schools looks like it was filmed on a film set. I was shocked by how good the pictures were.

GazOnABender · 12/12/2020 23:24

I've just watched it and realised that I taught two of the kids!! One has just gone off to university! Shock

Walkley18 · 12/12/2020 23:24

It's my favourite film of all time, not just Christmas. It always makes me laugh, and cry. Wonderful.

CthulhuInDisguise · 12/12/2020 23:30

DH's niece is in Nativity! DSS2 went to the school filmed as St Bernadette's, and I went to the private one Grin We love the film in our family and it isn't Christmas until we have watched it. DS has the soundtrack on his Christmas playlist too.

FMyUterus · 12/12/2020 23:33

It's a Christmas tradition to watch nativity whilst putting the tree up :) I love it I mean it's nonsense but it's fab!

alliwantisabitofpeace · 12/12/2020 23:34

My daughter is obsessed with these movies and has been for the past 3 years.. We watch them all year round..

megletthesecond · 12/12/2020 23:39

I was dead sceptical when I first sat down to watch it. I love it now.
And WTAF to the kids just popping over to the States and the maternity ward 😂.

Riggsthedino · 12/12/2020 23:40

Watched it again yeserday they do just get weirder as they get on. It's bonkers.
I can never get over why the class ages are so mixed ! Especially in the second one. And in the second one wouldn't the Mum have reported that like her baby was missing !
Still love it though

Archersandlemonade · 12/12/2020 23:43

I can never work out the words to the song
Nazareth - things are really cool in nazareth

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/12/2020 23:47

@Archersandlemonade here you are:

Things are really cool in Nazareth
Our city is full of joy
Cause this is where girl meets boy.
Barely had a school in Nazareth
There is no hand in hand
This is no one night stand
The wedding is being planned here in Nazareth
Nazareth a place to live
Always willing to forgive
Nazareth will bring us well
We can hear those wedding bells (wedding bells)
Feeling in a fix, in Nazareth
Rules are to be obeyed
Arrangements are being made
Got to get your kicks in Nazareth
Baby, you'll run away
Start of a brand new day
Still you cannot betray
Good ol' Nazareth

tinselfest · 12/12/2020 23:48

Only thing I don't get is why did the girlfriend to go LA if she was only being given a PA job?! Did she think she was getting a producer role and was tricked?

Some sort of assistant to the Producer, maybe? Not realising that it meant opening the post and making the coffee. And then she couldn't bear the lose of face with the folks back home so stuck with it. That's my take on it anyway.

I've seen it several times now, and enjoy it more each time. Likewise Love Actually. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without them now.
