Is this an actual crime ?

Unbelievable.

Absolutely assault to my mind and should be reported to the police asap.

Preferably before you go to speak to the school.

Irrespective of what the school chooses to do, the police absolutely need to be involved.

That teacher is a disgrace.

I cannot imagine on what planet you would have to be residing on to think this is acceptable behaviour.

I can only imagine how furious you must be.

What does it say about the school that one of it's teacher thinks this was not a huge deal.

I can't imagine that other parents would be anything other than appalled.

IIRC, there have been cases that have determined that damage to hair constitutes actual bodily harm.

I would absolutely be contacting the police as well as the head teacher.

TweeBree · 10/12/2020 16:44

Go straight to the police, OP. And don't let them fob you off. When you meet with the headteacher tomorrow this will give you more power to get the headteacher to take it seriously.

BlueThistles · 10/12/2020 16:51

I'm sorry for your daughter OP.. this is awful behaviour she experienced and her beautiful hair has been damaged.

I agree with everyone who says phone the Police, this is absolutely not acceptable. Flowers

FireUnderpants · 10/12/2020 17:02

If the teacher wasn't fussed I think it's speaks volumes of what the schools attitude will be. Escalate now to the police.

DianaT1969 · 10/12/2020 17:11

What does your daughter want? She might not want her mum making a fuss at school or bringing in the police. I'd find out her feelings first. She's a teenager, not 5.

BlueThistles · 10/12/2020 17:35

I imagine anyone having their hair cut against their will.. would be very upset.. OP's daughter wouldn't have told the Teacher if she wasn't upset. Confused

Report this OP.

Wow. Its hair, he’s hardly chopped her head off. Use a clip for a while it’ll grown back

Ive got many police friends, and I’d love to be on the radio when that gets a broadcast Grin

Yet they take such a strong approach when it comes to calling a woman a female ...

I also know a police officer and if some one cut her daughters hair she’d probably set the dogs on them tbh..

caringcarer · 10/12/2020 17:42

I would bypass the school and go straight to the police. If you go to the school first all they will do is insist it is dealt with internally and the boy will get away with it or at worst lose a break time and be made to say sorry. He should be made to pay for your dd to have a professional hair cut. His parents should be informed and the police should caution him. If school deal with it ziltch.

Dreamingofsunnydays1 · 10/12/2020 18:13

It's ABH.

Call the police, the little shit deserves it. I was bullied by a horrible boy at this age and the teachers didn't want to know. Call the police and get the teacher and school in the shit too. They had their chance to sort it today.

Fieldofyellowflowers · 10/12/2020 18:20

I hate it when teachers say "I didn't see anything" and then do eff all. It is the most laziest response you can give. I hope that the headteacher is more proactive about dealing with that kind of behaviour.

mumwon · 10/12/2020 18:54

If police can go to school hall said boy into office contact parents to be there & make it a serious interview (put frighteners on basically) & school takes over discipline
namely take situation seriously
what might this sweet child do next? I imagine if he had done this to one of my dd one would have been upset but the other who had sn would have been devastated - the boy is 13 not 6

Good luck OP. Hope he gets all he deserves.

It's not just hair is it, though? The kid who chopped a chunk out of mine escalated to trying to choke me. Like his hands were tight around my neck.
Girlyracer · 10/12/2020 22:20

Little bastard, get the Police involved and give hopefully give him the shock of his fucking life. Notify school for the purpose of telling them you are reporting it to the Police. School will do nothing. Only bothered about breaking up fir Christmas.

Girlyracer · 10/12/2020 22:24

To those thinking this isn't a problem and the Police don't need to be involved. Should the OP simply instruct her child to similarly attach the brat with a pair of scissors, or would that be too aggressive and abusive?

The brat is obviously a nutter.

Charleyhorses · 10/12/2020 22:34

Dd had a chunk cut out of her hair at school when she was 11. The other child was suspended

CoraPirbright · 10/12/2020 22:53

How is your dd OP? Is she upset? I am so sorry.

Good luck with your meeting with the school. Be clear on the outcomes that you want and I would totally be contacting the police too - if this teacher’s attitude is typical in the school I seriously doubt you will be getting much out of them.

VenusTiger · 10/12/2020 23:29

@minipie how can a crime not be "good use of their time" Hmm tell them the bully wasn't wearing a mask perhaps?

Ontheboardwalk · 11/12/2020 00:03

Not me but someone I was at a party with ( pre Covid) had an eyebrow shaved whilst drunk - for the bants

The police took it very seriously. You really should report it

TenShortStories · 11/12/2020 19:19

Did you speak to anyone at the school/police?

Lardlizard · 11/12/2020 21:01

Yes but I’m not going it post anything else about it, as it’s a legal matter now
But thanks for the advice, the police have taken it very seriously, and we will take this as far as possible
But I’m not saying anything else now

Your daughter is very lucky to have a mum who refuses to allow this sort of assault to be minimised and glossed over. Hope she is ok and this vile brat and his parents are taught a very valuable lesson. And that teacher/school realise how serious it is.
TenShortStories · 11/12/2020 23:56

That's fair enough. Sounds like things are getting done though, which is great. Hope it all works out well for your daughter and the kid who did it learns their lesson.

SeaMoonWave · 12/12/2020 08:01

Huge well done for standing up for your daughter and being a fantastic mum. Really shocking the school dismissed this!
