What is your DP getting you for Christmas?

I need some inspiration as my DH keeps asking what I want for Christmas and I can't think of anything. Budget up to about £150. I don't need clothes or perfume or jewellery. A night away seems a bit pointless at the monent and so I'm stuck. Any ideas?

DH bought me a new dress. He bought it at the end if October just before we found out I'm pregnant. Thinking I could wear it at Christmas and at a wedding in the spring. The former maybe but the latter not looking likely now 😂

Do you have to have a present? To me it always seems if you have to think about it that much, then there doesn't seem much point.

Why not just ask for a small token gift that he chooses himself, so it's a surprise for you. Then spend the money on going somewhere lovely for a break when this is all over.

I have no idea and I couldn’t think of any ideas to give him either. It all appears to be coming from
Amazon though Hmm

I'm getting some posh wellies (Aigle) I wear wellies a lot in the winter (dog walks) and my old ones have holes so I'm very much looking forward to my new ones.

toomuchfaster · 07/12/2020 22:03

Ive asked for perfume, which he will pick and buy, and gloves for using a phone with while wearing, which I will choose as I'm not 100% sure what I want. I've also bought myself some Top Trumps for DD to give me, as I saw them reduced!

Whiskas1Kittens · 07/12/2020 22:10

A long coat (wool). I still miss the one I had 20 years ago, so I'll make years of use out of it.

This.

If you have to tell him what to buy, it's not a present. It's just spending money for the sake of it, especially with a relatively large budget.

Your gift is him getting off his arse, engaging his brain and finding something that he thinks you might like and buying it. If he's not doing any thinking or choosing then there's no point. If you're worrid about wasting money, you could make the budget a token one.

Then you're free to choose your own things when you want them, without having to pretend they're gifts from your DH when they're nothing of the sort.

I would love a monthly flower subscription.
I know I'm getting a trail running vest and trail shoes which are also lovely.

CoronaIsWatching · 07/12/2020 22:19

Chilly's bottle

Palavah · 07/12/2020 22:21

Ask him to get you a luxurious version of something you use regularly.

I agree it's nicer if you don't have to spell it out.

cashmere dressing gown or jumper or gloves, silk pyjamas, buttery soft leather bag or purse?

MadamShazam · 07/12/2020 22:24

A silver emerald ring, some new pyjamas, hotel chocolat chocolates and a water flosser.

Trumpetpants · 07/12/2020 22:38

I buy mine own, which is good in that I like them but sometimes after buying for my family and his, working full time and supporting another family member is another thing to think about and I don't always bother

Amerimoon · 07/12/2020 22:54

A handbag that I know about. Probably perfume and usually a stocking of little suprises

fitflopqueen · 07/12/2020 23:10

PegasusReturns · 07/12/2020 23:20

Goodness knows. Which is a worry Grin

Usually I have an idea, but this year not the slightest clue and the twenty years we’ve been together suggests it could be absolutely anything from a t shirt I’d never wear to the most beautiful diamond earrings.

Quite looking forward to the surprise!

BashfulClam · 08/12/2020 00:00

A Harris Tweed bag and several wrapped things that are surprises. None of the presents have barked yet so probably not a puppy!

StillMedusa · 08/12/2020 00:10

A nice new work bag and a scarf/wrap that I saw and liked... I sent Dh the links ! He doesn't ever choose my present as I learned very early on that his 'taste' is dubious... the 'very best of Celine Dion' CD he got me early in our relationship warned me not to let him decide!!!!

We've been together 32 years and I always choose my own presents... as does he! I've bought him a spray deck for his kayak and various other weird water sport related items!

EverybodystalkingaboutJamie · 08/12/2020 05:47
