I’ve got one present for him from Santa - a Lego set. He doesn’t game, and he is still fairly “innocent.” He likes football, and has been really interested in every school topic recently: world war 1, titanic etc etc. I am at a loss, his present pile is nonexistent and on Christmas morning it’s going to be really noticeable next to his younger siblings. Some ideas please! Got a whoppee cushion on the list but other than that nada!

He's getting a PS4, we caved! He's got Minecraft, plants Vs zombies and Among Us to play. His mates all have the same machine and games, so they connect with each other when they're confined.

Some Minecraft themed essentials: pyjamas, socks, pants, backpack, brolly, washbag.

A parrot that parrots back to you!

Lights that go on the spokes of his bike and look v cool when they spin.

Exploding Kittens card game (he plays at friend's house and loves it).

Horrible Histories complete set.

Light-up laces

Glow in the dark Need bullets.

From family: plane making kit (with glue and paints), top trumps, microscope.

He also has a birthday between now and Xmas Sad

My DS is 10. He is getting a few board games because he loves it when we all play together. His first watch and a watch box that holds several watches. He is fascinated with DH's watch collection so we are starting that for him. Covers for his golf clubs. An ipad. A backpack. Skiing mittens. Lego. Books. 1000 piece puzzle. Some collector coins. Chocolates and lollies.

SushiGo · 05/12/2020 06:16

Lots of books incl. History books
Creative writing activity book

In the past we've got him laser guns, enough for the whole family to play.

I would definitely get a football kit if he likes football. What about one of those electronic training balls that give you feedback? Horrible history books are good.

ThePenIsBlue · 05/12/2020 07:02

Thanks some great ideas here. I normally get him a Guinness book of records each year which he loves but my parents have given him every one theyve ever had and we had as kids (why??? WHY???) so he’s got about 15 of them now dating back to the 90s. I think part of the problem is that despite trying to get him into other stuff to play with, he is just Lego obsessed - Star Wars mainly. I really love some of the ideas posted above though so I think I’ll add a few of those to the list. His birthday is summer and so he often get a football stuff/garden/ summer stuff then. Thank you so much!!

I have DS7, DD9 and DD11. Presents include:

Guinness book of world records
A drone
Echo dot
20Q game
Zombie kidz board game
Football top
Boxing gloves and punch bag
Lego creator set
National geographic microscope
How to draw comic strips book
House plant

Good luck!

Sparklehead · 05/12/2020 07:34

Also, a magazine subscription can go down well. Either a Lego related magazine or we have had: national geographic kids, whizz pop bang (science mag), eco kids, beano.

Funatish · 05/12/2020 07:44

My 9 year old is into exactly the same! He's getting football boots, kit, separate tops, star wars books, star wars lego, board games and an electric scooter as his main present. His pile will look tiny compared to his siblings but cost is the same

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/12/2020 08:00

My 9yo (girl) is getting...
Tent, backpack, sleep mat and other camping bits
Watch (normal analogue one, not sports, small adult one rather than a child's one)
Books
Baking stuff

From other family she has Lego, science kits, sewing box, craft stuff, room accessories, pyjamas, HP hoody, more books.

Has your DD got the Horrible Histories books?

HuntedForest · 05/12/2020 08:08

Harry Potter Lego set
Brio add-ons
Books
Fleece lined hoodie
Multicolour biro, Christmas pencils, chocolates, calendar for stocking
Board game

He's just had a birthday and got Minecraft Lego, some Minecraft clothing, more books, and a surprising hit was Scrabble.

LostAcre · 05/12/2020 08:22

For Christmas my 9yr old is getting

A subscription to the Phoenix comic
Some Minecraft toys
Lego
A tornado lamp
Books
Some DLC for his current favourite computer game
Cuddly toy
Chocolate

He’s very interested in the Titanic at the minute, one of his birthday presents was a choose your own adventure book set on the Titanic - Can You Survive the Titanic? (You Choose: Survival) by Allison Lassieur. He enjoyed reading that.
He also has a Story of the Titanic book published by DK Children, that’s one of his current favourite books.

He’s also already got a subscription to Whizz Pop Bang magazine, that’s a good magazine for children interested in science.
