If everything is in your name then I'd report it to the police.

BaronessBomburst · 02/12/2020 13:38

Contact the police.

thenightsky · 02/12/2020 13:39

Report it stolen? The police will pick him up on the cameras. I've been watching Police Intercepters, can you tell? Grin

Sirzy · 02/12/2020 13:39

Who’s name is it in? Does he normally use it

RumJerrySailorRum · 02/12/2020 13:40

Ring the police and tell them he's taken it without your permission.

cabbageking · 02/12/2020 13:40

If you can prove it belongs to you contact the Police.

But consider the consequences first

Brieminewine · 02/12/2020 13:40

Ring the police, obviously?

FelicityPike · 02/12/2020 13:41

Phone. The. Police?

Audreyseyebrows · 02/12/2020 13:42

What would you do if anyone else took your car? Ask mumsnet? Confused

AIMD · 02/12/2020 13:43

Phone the police.
Is he abusive? Just asking to judge what’s your safety is like? If he isn’t I’d maybe text asking for it to be returned within the hour or you will contact the police.

Does he have family you get on with you can call to talk sense into him?

sofiaaaaaa · 02/12/2020 13:49

Unclear whether this is as civil or criminal matter unless you can provide further details.

If the car is legally his but driven by you usually, the police probably won’t get involved.

If it’s yours, call the police ASAP.

is he insured to drive it? if not let the police know?

Plonque · 02/12/2020 14:03

Is it solely yours? Not sure if the legality if it's partly in his name.
Ring the police if it's in your name.

Calabasa · 02/12/2020 14:07

If its yours and he's disappeared in it, you report it as theft.

He's taken it without consent.. so phone the police.

Topseyt · 02/12/2020 14:14

Who is the registered keeper of the car? Is it you? Is it him? Is it joint (not sure whether or not it can be)?

Is he insured to drive it? Take him off the insurance immediately if he is on it - once you have the car back of course.

If the car is totally in your name then you should phone the police to report it stolen.

PoppyOppy · 02/12/2020 15:14

@whopooedinthepyrex

Well what on earth do you think you should (obviously) do?

Light a candle and do a little magic dance.

FFS.

🤣🤣
vanillandhoney · 02/12/2020 15:16

Why on earth wouldn't you ring the police?

Unless the car is actually in his name?

Plonthy · 02/12/2020 17:22

@whopooedinthepyrex

Well what on earth do you think you should (obviously) do?

Maybe she should call Esther Rantzen.

Is "Thats Life" still on??

LOL

Bananalanacake · 02/12/2020 17:24

Is it in your name, is he insured on it.

MitziK · 02/12/2020 17:52

@ACanOfWormZ

My ex (of today- after He is still lying after an affair)just stole my car, he physically took the key off me and has left with it.
So he assaulted you?

Report to the Police. He's assaulted you and stolen your car.

Bluntness100 · 02/12/2020 17:54

Op what do you normally do when someone steals your car? Why are you confused as to the action you take here?

And did you just stay with him when you knew he has cheated? What does this man need to do to you to make you say enough?

As for the poster saying grabbing the key is assault that’s pushing it a bit. The ops situation is bad enough. No need to get hysterical

Herja · 02/12/2020 17:59

That's fucking shit OP. I'm sorry you're facing this on top of a very crappy day. I hope you have friends over for support regarding the affair.

If the car is in your name, report it as theft to the police. If it's 'yours', but in his name, I doubt you can do anything legally. Personally, in the latter circumstance, I would probably dog shit the car door handles next time you see it.

Audreyseyebrows · 02/12/2020 21:27

Are you okay @ACanOfWormZ?
