What do you give the lovely lady who does your cleaning?

The lady who comes to us is worth her weight in gold, she is fabulous.

What gift is nice and appropriate? Not a tub of Hero's or quality street!

Double pay!

MrsKingfisher · 01/12/2020 15:57

Oh that's a lovely idea! We pay a company and they pay the ladies so I'm not sure what she actually gets but it's not cheap!

We do double payment at Xmas and a nice box of handmade chocs

HotSince63 · 01/12/2020 15:58

We do double pay too. And then usually a scented candle or some bath oil.

domesticslattern · 01/12/2020 15:59

Cash.

MarshaBradyo · 01/12/2020 16:00

Money is always good

Mrsjayy · 01/12/2020 16:02

Give her a card with some cash and a box of.chocolates job done Smile

MrsKingfisher · 01/12/2020 16:04

As I don't know what she actually gets paid due to the agency fee, what's the appropriate amount to put in a card?

If you pay a company chances are your cleaner wont bi on big bucks so if you can afford a nice cash tip and maybe some nice chocolates give her that (from someone who cleans for a living)

user686833 · 01/12/2020 16:07

I'd still do double pay. Just leave it as cash so she gets it all and not the agency.

Thank you, can you give me an idea what would be a nice cash tip?

How many hours does she do?

HotSince63 · 01/12/2020 16:09

She's probably going to be on minimum wage through an agency. How many hours does she do? Give her £10 an hour in a card, that's what I'd do as minimum, or more if you want to.

IrisRainbow · 01/12/2020 16:10

A week's pay, ideally including the agency fees. So if you normally pay them £40 per week, give her £40.

Double pay!!

It doesn't matter what the agency give her. You can give her the same as you pay the agency. That will be double pay and the extra. You do t have to be exact.

PontiacBandit · 01/12/2020 16:15

Mine is very lovely but fairly shit at cleaning, I'll still buy myself lots of presents as thanks.

MrsKingfisher · 01/12/2020 16:17

Our agency sends 2 ladies, 1 who's new and I haven't yet met as I'm usually out when they come but the other has been with us since we began having a clean. They come for 2 hours once a week.

I think we pay quite a lot per month when I look at others in my area, around £300 a month. I've tried finding out what the agency takes etc but I haven't got very far. The lady who runs the agency is very nice but tight lipped so I've no idea what they're getting paid and what she takes as a fee.

I think that works out at £34 per lady per clean. (Including the agency cut). Maybe £35 tip each in a nice card?

emeraldcity2000 · 01/12/2020 16:24

We always do £100 in cash and a box of hotel chocolate chocolates. She comes for 3hrs per week (£39 per week).

That's pretty much what I've worked it out as too. Thank you.

We have a male cleaner, but just give him an amazon voucher card. I thought about gifts but honestly have no idea what he'd like, and this way he can get whatever he wants!
We pay him £32 /fortnight and give him a £25 voucher.

vinoandbrie · 01/12/2020 16:45

I have four, and give them a bottle of champagne each 🍾

FrustratoPotato · 01/12/2020 16:48

We give our cleaner £50 cash. This is over and above her regular weekly pay. She is wonderful and has probably saved both my sanity and my marriage.
