How painful is a front of thigh tattoo

JaniceSopranoJr · 29/11/2020 15:16

In comparison to a back tattoo or forearm tattoo?

Anyone? I'm considering a thigh piece, but for some reason I'm thinking it's going to kill, relative to other places.

It can't be worse than spine right?

Pain killers and numbing cream

You should be fine

CodenameVillanelle · 29/11/2020 15:20

I have one on my thigh, it was fine. My others are on lower legs and chest. None of them were particularly painful

DK123 · 29/11/2020 15:22

I'd say similar or not as bad. It wasn't too bad when I had it done. The forearm one was a lot more uncomfortable for me than the leg.

I've only got one and it's on the front of my thigh. It was fine - the long outline bits hurt but barely felt the colouring in bits!

JaniceSopranoJr · 29/11/2020 15:24

I found forearm fine until it got near the wrist, so hopefully will be ok.

My tattooist is massively against numbing cream as it affects the surface texture of the skin, so I'm not sure I'd get away with that.

I'm hoping it won't be too bad as I've got pretty chubby thighs and it won't be nearing any bones.

I didn't find it painful.
The inside of my wrist was the worst pain I have ever felt.

Yep, I did not enjoy wrist at all.

Lower finger by the nail was by far my worst and I've had my sternum done. I find my legs more uncomfortable (excluding my finger) than anywhere else tbh but I think I'm weird. Can only manage 2/3 hours on the legs.

Mind you since I've had meningitis my skin seems to be more sensitive anyway

JaniceSopranoJr · 29/11/2020 15:32

I've only had about 2 hours worth on calves before, and that was fine. I'm more nervous about thigh for some reason.

Are people excited that tattooists are reopening? I've had a couple of bookings postponed by covid and I'm really looking forward to getting back in there.

In my opinion, nowhere near as painful as across the back.

Iheartmysmart · 29/11/2020 15:35

Strangely my thigh tattoos were more painful that my arms and upper back. Don’t know why as there is plenty of flesh there!

QueenPaws · 29/11/2020 15:37

Not bad at all, I got a bit grouchy around 4hrs in but I have both thighs tattooed
Lower back across spine was the worst for me, wrist didn't bother me! But lower back was 5.5hrs

JaniceSopranoJr · 29/11/2020 15:39

It seems very mixed! Argh.

@JaniceSopranoJr cannot wait, not going to lie. Got a leg piece that is half way in 🤣

Yeah I'm halfway through a large one that has been halted since September because of shitty lockdown.

It's exciting to have something to look forward to isn't it. Our big holiday was cancelled this year so I've allowed myself a nice ink budget as a treat since were hardly allowed to do fuck all else.

I think its different for everyone, iv had 5 hours of work done accross both thighs and wasn't phased by it, iv had a tattoo across my chest and collar bone which didn't bother me but my forearm had me grimacing 😂

ShopTattsyrup · 29/11/2020 16:08

My thigh was fine, lower and outer thigh in my case. As she started to get towards my knee it was that horrible bone vibrating feeling that I hate - but the actual meaty part of my thigh was grand Smile.

The bone grind is horrible isn't it. I've got one down my spine and it felt like he was drilling right into the vertebrae.🤮

I hate bone area tattoos.

I have a thigh tattoo and it was probably my least painful one. I have 5 in various places. The thigh tattoo is quite detailed too so not just a quick one

HigherFurtherFasterBaby · 29/11/2020 16:19

Mine is on the side of my thigh, it's huge. I lasted 3.5 hours before I tapped out.

HigherFurtherFasterBaby · 29/11/2020 16:19

My underboob tattoo was the worst for bone grind - on the ribs Envy

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 29/11/2020 16:27

I've got one that encompasses my entire upper leg.
Front of the thigh is fine, inner thigh and back of the knee are the worst on legs I find. Front and outer thigh is fine.
In comparison to forearm and back I can't answer, but definitely less painful than ribs.

What are you having out of noseiness?

Dizzy1234 · 29/11/2020 16:34

Front of thigh is fine, won't hurt too much.
Iv recently had one on my shoulder, front, side and back of shoulder & it was the most painful thing ever, it hit every bone and I cod feel it vibrating in my teeth, horrendous

JaniceSopranoJr · 29/11/2020 16:36

Yeah I can imagine inside of thigh must be horrible, especially near the bikini line.

Has anyone had bikini line done? Shock

I'm planning a moonlit nature scene with reeds and water birds in an oval frame shape to cover the whole front of 1 thigh, in kind of neo-traditional style.

PaperMonster · 29/11/2020 16:57

I have one on my thigh and I don’t recall it being ridiculously painful.
