How painful is a front of thigh tattoo

In comparison to a back tattoo or forearm tattoo?

Anyone? I'm considering a thigh piece, but for some reason I'm thinking it's going to kill, relative to other places.

It can't be worse than spine right?

I'm going to go for it. Surely if I can handle spine I can handle thigh.

Tattooist here. Does numbing cream bollocks make it harder to tattoo, what piffle. If your tattooist is halfway decent Emla will help you and make no difference to him/her.

Really? He seems to think it can cause think ink to bleed.

Do you recommend it?

I have lidocaine cream, is that the same?

The inside of my wrist was the worst pain I have ever felt Exactly the same here. Mine both need re-working and I’m too chicken to do it.

I have them all over, including thighs. Nothing hurt anywhere near as much as the inside of my wrists.

ParkheadParadise · 29/11/2020 20:11

@Sn0tnose
Mine needed re-working too. I went ahead and had it done. Never again the pain was worse second time around.

thedogandthecat · 29/11/2020 20:16

I've had my bikini area tattooed. The upper spine was worse! Thigh you'll have no problem

QueenPaws · 29/11/2020 20:24

I've used ametop cream before with no issues
My back tattoo she covered in bactine about 5hrs in as I was becoming a grumpy whining mess Grin and it really helped

See, I found bactine made it worse! The pain on my spine would be completely gone for about 3 minutes then it would wear off and feel 10 times worse than before he used it.

She did coat it then clingfilm and we had a break so not sure if that's why it worked!

I have tattoos on my wrist, stomach, back and thigh and I'd say the thigh was the least painful of them all. It's also the biggest of my tattoos and was the first I got and I went back a couple of weeks later for the second one!

JaniceSopranoJr · 29/11/2020 20:28

So did that stop the pain completely? It hardly worked for me at all, but this was about 6 hours into a full day.

OP posts:
QueenPaws · 29/11/2020 20:29

It helped, I wouldn't say stopped it totally, maybe 75%

Pyewhacket · 29/11/2020 20:29

Got one on my arse and that was bloody painful which is mad coz there’s enough padding there !

I guess maybe you need to wrap it and let it sink in?

God, how can bikini line be less painful than spine?! I thought that would be the worst ever.

thedogandthecat · 30/11/2020 20:04

So did I, I was really nervous but it was alright!

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 30/11/2020 20:54

I have a large thigh piece, barely felt it. Possibly my fave place to have tattooed

I'm planning one, did you think it was less bad than wrist and back too?
JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 02/12/2020 20:00

Wrist considerably more painful. I haven’t had my back done yet so can’t comment there.

OfTheNight · 02/12/2020 20:32

In my experience, it’s been the least uncomfortable (one full sleeve from shoulder to wrist, one partial sleeve from elbow to wrist, behind ear, finger, ankle, collar bone, shoulder blade.) I’ve got both thighs done and they were fine. The inside of the top of my arm though - Jesus!!
