I’m planning on buying a variety of cheeses for me and DP for the Christmas period, something which I have never done before!

I know the sort of cheeses I’d like to get but has anyone got recommendations for crackers? I know there are a lot to choose from but I never really have them in.

I really don’t like anything sweet and savoury mixed together so wouldn’t like any sweet biscuits or crackers.

The scallop edged salted crackers most of the supermarkets, including Aldi, are my favourites. Also, the small round poppy seed ones and Ryvita thins are actually much nicer than you might think.

Oatcakes.
Ideally those that don't involve environmentally devastating palm oil, such as Pattersons who use olive oil.

Neals Yard Sourdough crackers and a Carrs melt selection. And you are done. The best of all worlds.

Aldi chilli oatcakes and Asda sea salt savoury crackers, between them they go with all cheese!

Cooltalkin · 28/11/2020 18:08

Tesco rosemary crackers ( and they do others in the same range )

We always buy Fudges in at least two flavours

Peters Yard sourdough crackers or flatbreads .
Or pittenweems handmade oatcakes. Thick, crumbly and delicious. Nothing like the sheets of cardboard you get elsewhere

Ryvita thins, especially the sea salt and rosemary ones.

Twinkie01 · 28/11/2020 18:17

Carrs wheat germ ones are lovely.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/11/2020 18:22

Quite like Tesco Finest cheese biscuit selection

FrolickingLemon · 28/11/2020 18:37

Without a doubt, these from Aldi. I think they are the ones the first PP who replied were alluding to. They are around 79p. Also come in a black pepper variety. Thin, buttery and very moreish. My DD also loves them.

Anyone who says a cream cracker is an actual psychopath and not to be trusted

Poppy seed crackers and rosemary thins all the way here

Madbengalmum · 28/11/2020 18:44

Peters yard not Neals yard!

Wisteria1979 · 28/11/2020 18:46

I get the Waitrose selection box plus a Peter’s yard separate for sourdough. If I feel fancy then a box of cheese twists too. The selection box has each individually packed so you don’t need to open all.

Yep - that's them. Tesco sell the same thing too.

Cornish Wafers

VienneseWhirligig · 28/11/2020 20:02

Tesco and Asda both do rosemary crackers and they are my favourites. I like Hovis digestives too, but they may be too sweet for you?

Roystonv · 28/11/2020 20:04

Plain digestives, water biscuits, oatcakes and wheat/spelt type ones. Yuk to cream crackers and Cornish.

FelicityBob · 28/11/2020 20:06

Hovis ones, the ones that are basically a digestive

Caesargeezer · 28/11/2020 20:19

The seasalt savoury crackers mentioned by a pp. They have them in Lidl also.

ForTheLoveOfCatFood · 28/11/2020 20:28

A sesame & poppy seed thin

Tesco do a nice beetroot and seed cracker

Actually Tesco finest assorted crackers are a good mix

Garlic crackers

Now I want cheese and crackers!!

Belindabelle · 28/11/2020 20:29

I hope you have a relish or pickle in mind too. I love a fig mostarda or a quince membrillo. If you are going to Aldi for the crackers pick up some of their chutney and relish.

wowfudge · 28/11/2020 20:48

I've bought a damson version of membrillo. Should be good. The rosemary crackers mentioned upthread are the same maker as the salted ones - same shape, etc. I just prefer not to have a strong flavour with cheese.
