Anyone want to join me in losing 10 stone?

So today I got accepted for ivf. Put on the waiting list and been told it's likely to be 2022. That's fine! But in that time I need to get my bmi to 25 and under. It's currently 52, judge away I know I've mainly done this to myself. Eating my feelings, steroids for my Crohns and mirtazapine haven't helped, but it's mostly me. I'm in hospital until Wednesday because of a molar pregnancy but on Thursday evening I've signed up for an exercise shred, 4 x classes a week and a calorie goal to stick to.

I can do this. I HAVE TO DO THIS.

So if you also have weight to lose or just want to watch a fatty transform her life in 18 months join in! There is no judgement here.

Today's weight 20 stone 4 pounds (I know because I was weighed for my treatment and I cried but it's over now. Good bye that weight, I will never see you again)

I will also be trying to walk 10k steps a day and god help me if I don't do it at work when I'm back there the dog isn't going to know to what's hit her!

I'm also going to try and practice intuitive/ mindful eating.. I'm getting used to it in hospital as the food is shit but also I'm using the calm app for my emotions and I'm trying really hard to deal all with all the shit that's going on in my head and not eat away my feelings.

I'll be using this as a blog/ diary if no one joins me so don't feel like you have to join in :) but if you want a safe space to talk about wanting to weigh less or you're thinking about doing it but don't know where to start or you just want to chat about how shit it is to be addicted to food/ have learnt to use food as a coping mechanism then welcome :)

But there is no body shaming here, no fat shaming, no thin shaming, everyone is different let's do this Thanks

I have six stone to lose and struggle. I know I need to walk and try to exercise but I can't do it by myself. When I diet (I do diet chef) I don't lose anything as I don't burn enough calories. I am desperate.

MawkishHawk · 04/12/2020 05:23

What is it that stops you walking or exercising by yourself, strawberrycat?

lillg · 04/12/2020 08:30

@MawkishHawk you take a pic of yourself on the scale and then a pic of the scales with a word they give you, which kind of acts as a time stamp. It's not infallible but most people seem to use it properly and are honest.
There's also a similar app where you commit to running a certain distance 3-4 days a week and record it on Strava.
It amazing how much more committed I am when there's money at stake.

Checking in with my progress using myfitnesspal for logging and instagram posts of my meals for accountability - I am down 7 pounds since the 11th of November.

Also I've discovered a nifty little water app - you just shake it and it records your water intake - so much easier than going into MFP all the time! It's called Water Daily and it's FREE!

Right guys tomorrow is the day I start. Going food shopping in the morning for veggies and meal planning, hoping to do a hiit session

I can't motivate myself. Depression is bad and I struggle. Luckily I have help from CPN and that keeps me afloat. I know how difficult this it to lose weight and respect those that fight against their demons.

MawkishHawk · 05/12/2020 12:25

Ah sorry to hear that @1Strawberrycat. I struggle with MH too (cyclothymia & OCD) but do so much better now after a lot of CBT based work and psychoeducation both with a therapist and self-directed, I needed medication to be able to do therapy fully but have mostly been able to stay off meds since. There’s still stuff to work on, but I function well enough for now, and know when to ask for more help, importantly.

Do you take meds to help you? I tried to make myself think of self-care acts (like going for a walk, drinking my water etc) as prescribed like my medication was. Incredibly difficult when you’re stuck in the depths though. The only way out is through Flowers

@FMyUterus hope shopping went well! I find shopping when on a health mission way easier - so many aisles you can just ignore completely!!

Deathraystare · 05/12/2020 12:38

Good luck! I have around 5 excess stone t lose myself. I am planning to start next week as I have been using my stomach as a rubbish tip for far too long.

FMyUterus · 06/12/2020 22:40

I've made some egg Mayo and tuna Mayo ready for the week. I'm definitely guilty of just grabbing a sandwich from the shop for lunch so for me to make this is a big thing! Not a lot of Mayo and loads of tuna and egg respectively plus red onion, cucumber, lettuce and a bit of celery. I've also got a salad and veggies with humus Smile

Sounds lush, I love a homemade egg/tuna mayo, and they’re perfect low carb. What oil do you use for your mayo? I quite like all olive oil although it does then taste like olive oil, but I like that!

I’m off for swim no 2 in a bit, I felt great after last time, we’ll see how this goes fitting it in before work, think it will mean skipping breakfast but hey ho then that’s IF sorted, right?!?

Have just promised myself that if I do 3 more swim sessions (incl. today) then I can treat myself to some pretty new flip flops for poolside/changing rooms.

FMyUterus · 07/12/2020 08:23

I use rapeseed oil as it doesn't taste of anything (to me) so it doesn't overpower the eggs, I also use a little bit of mustard because I'm a freak. Also the eggs are from next doors chickens so it's very yellow 😂

Pinch of mustard is a must I agree! Rapeseed oil is most neutral probably. I always meant to experiment with flavoured mayos but never did. Fridge is broken at the moment so we’re shopping daily and living off packets and tins otherwise, but when it’s fixed I think I’ll get the magimix out and give it a whirl :-)

Hope your first week has started ok. I feel like I have way more energy and feel better in my body already, I’ve lost 9.6lbs in 10 days and you helped so Thankyou!

ouchmyfeet · 16/02/2021 23:39

How's it going folks? I've been doing the low carb bootcamp on MN and have managed to lose 16lbs in the first 4 weeks. One stone down, 9 to go!!

GaryUnicorn · 17/02/2021 00:45

21lbs down. How are you getting on @FMyUterus? I hope you’re in a good place.
