FMyUterus · 28/11/2020 01:53

So today I got accepted for ivf. Put on the waiting list and been told it's likely to be 2022. That's fine! But in that time I need to get my bmi to 25 and under. It's currently 52, judge away I know I've mainly done this to myself. Eating my feelings, steroids for my Crohns and mirtazapine haven't helped, but it's mostly me. I'm in hospital until Wednesday because of a molar pregnancy but on Thursday evening I've signed up for an exercise shred, 4 x classes a week and a calorie goal to stick to.

I can do this. I HAVE TO DO THIS.

So if you also have weight to lose or just want to watch a fatty transform her life in 18 months join in! There is no judgement here.

Today's weight 20 stone 4 pounds (I know because I was weighed for my treatment and I cried but it's over now. Good bye that weight, I will never see you again)

I will also be trying to walk 10k steps a day and god help me if I don't do it at work when I'm back there the dog isn't going to know to what's hit her!

I'm also going to try and practice intuitive/ mindful eating.. I'm getting used to it in hospital as the food is shit but also I'm using the calm app for my emotions and I'm trying really hard to deal all with all the shit that's going on in my head and not eat away my feelings.

I'll be using this as a blog/ diary if no one joins me so don't feel like you have to join in :) but if you want a safe space to talk about wanting to weigh less or you're thinking about doing it but don't know where to start or you just want to chat about how shit it is to be addicted to food/ have learnt to use food as a coping mechanism then welcome :)

But there is no body shaming here, no fat shaming, no thin shaming, everyone is different let's do this Thanks

Hi op. I had a similar amount to lose. Had weight loss surgery. Now lost nearly 10 stone. Best money I've ever spent. If you can afford it DO IT

Covidfears · 28/11/2020 22:02

I’d love to join as well. I have 8 stone ish to lose and the danger of Covid to overweight people has put the fear of god into me. My father has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer (obesity can be a factor) so I am at an all time low ebb.

I’ve always been overweight but then I had infertility and 8 miscarriages. I piled the weight on with each as I was basically pregnant then miscarrying non stop for 2 years. Then I had my 2 beautiful babies and piled on more with PND after the trauma of it all finally hitting me.

I need to lose it for them.

AllAboutHallowsEve · 28/11/2020 22:11

I have 9 stone to lose - I'm just under 20 stone and I think 11 stone would be a good goal for my height (5ft 5).

I have binge eating disorder due to childhood trauma. And I always think - no, not just think but truly believe - that the diet will start tomorrow/Monday/first day of the new month/New Years day...it doesn't though.

It's hard. But I'm very worried about Covid and I'm experiencing a lot of health problems due to my weight such as back pain and fatigue after eating carbs.

OP I wish you good luck and I would love to support you and others on this thread as we make our weight loss journey together Thanks

Can I please join in? I have around the same amount to lose. I've started intermittent fasting, dug out my SW and pinch of Nom books started following Leslie Sansome walk videos on you tube. I've always given up before now but like Covidfears I'm too petrified about catching Covid due to my weight.

compulsiveliar2019 · 28/11/2020 22:17

Can I join too please! I have about 11 stone to loose. Have had previous success with SlimmingWorld but fell off the wagon after a good start. Contemplating rejoining.

Kakiweewee · 28/11/2020 22:18

Good luck!

I started in March with ten stone to lose and I'm 5st 3lbs down.

Don't get put off by plateaus, they happen and they're disheartening but you keep going, look at what you're eating and check if you can change anything. I cut my calories a bit lower and will keep it up until Christmas, then see if upping them again will stop the loss or if I kickstarted things again with my six weeks of low calories.

It's not been as hard as I've expected. Consistency is the one thing you need, keep in that I'm gonna do this mindset, even if you have a bad day.

ilovepixie · 28/11/2020 22:19

I'm in. I weighed myself today and I'm 19 stone 4. I've never been this big! I've had a few health issues this year, depression, blood clot in leg and I need to get thinner and healthier.

Headingtowardsforty · 28/11/2020 22:21

I just wanted to say you can do it. In August 2019 I was 20st 9lbs, I am now 12st 9lbs. I have a couple of stone to go til I am where I want to be but I have done it and so can you.

FatGirlShrinking · 28/11/2020 22:28

Can I ask a question of those who have lost a lot of weight please. How is your skin? I'm 3 stone in with at least 3 more to go and have been obese most of my life, the skin at the top of my thighs, arms and belly is looking decidedly loose and saggy. Did you ever have this and if so did it improve?

foxyroxyyy · 28/11/2020 22:32

Saaaame. I've put on more in the last nine months than I did in the nine months proceeding while I was pregnant!!

I've got 100lbs to lose. Not sure what that is in stone.

Good luck every one.

2010rachel29 · 28/11/2020 22:46

I am in have about 9 wton to lose but have not weight lately.

I tend to eat my feelings and stress is a definite trigger for me. My exercise has greatly reduced in last few years no really n ed to try take some time to concentrate on myself.

LittleStepsDaily · 28/11/2020 22:51

I'm in! I have 162lbs to lose. I'm aiming to reach 10k steps each day, up my water, and log my foods. Im over 300lbs so my first goal is to say goodbye to 300 forever!

PurpleMustang · 28/11/2020 23:21

I forgot to add that the Pinch of Nom cooking books are great and the fb page aswell

FMyUterus · 28/11/2020 23:22

@Headingtowardsforty how did you do it?

Good luck everyone.

TealSapphire · 29/11/2020 00:47

Good luck everyone. I second setting small goals and having a reward for each one.

I'd love to join. Need to lose 5 stone to get back to my ideal weight (in the middle of the healthy weight range for my height). A few weeks in I've lost nearly half a stone but have stalled. I'm doing intermittent fasting and have cut a lot - but not all - junk from my diet. Starting off just by walking and low intensity weights etc. I'm lucky that I have free access to a pt at work.

MawkishHawk · 29/11/2020 06:28

Hi @FMyUterus hope you had an ok night in hospital and managed to get some healthy food!

I know you shouldn’t really WI daily but i just wanted to see and I’m 2.5lbs down, after a day of drinking lost-count glasses of water and whole30 eating, feel ok this morning. Maybe I will be able to just sneak to a BMI 35 in time for the checks for the stem cell donation 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Has anyone ever tried orlistat/xenical to help speed their weight loss?

Headingtowardsforty · 29/11/2020 07:46

@FMyUterus, @ouchmyfeet I joined weightwatchers. I had lost weight with them in the past, so knew I could do it again. I am rubbish with portion sizes and needed the strictness that it gave me for that. Also I am on my feet a lot of the time, but when lockdown happened in March I realised I had to keep moving, so I would go for a walk 5 days out of 7. But please bear in mind I was already 5 stone lighter by then.
I do go to the gym, but only a couple of times a week to try and tone my body up. For PP who was asking about loose skin, I have a bit, but the exercise has really helped it not to be too bad.
Also, it's not a straight line, I haven't lost weight every week and there has been weeks where I have put weight on. It's not easy, but it's doable. My relationship with food has changed a lot, but it's still not perfect and food is still my default to make myself feel better, but these days I stop after one biscuit, rather than one packet.

MawkishHawk · 29/11/2020 09:57

From a previous weight loss journey I recommend the Happy Scale app which is good because it gives you running averages and smooths out any little gains/plateaus that could otherwise dispirit you.

BrrrIsland · 29/11/2020 10:19

I would like to join you. I don’t have quite as much to lose, but could do with shedding 4 - 5 stone so still a big task! I’ve just weighed myself for the first time in ages thanks to this thread so I’m no longer in denial at least.

So the plan is healthy eating, a lot less alcohol, exercise of some kind most days. I will officially start tomorrow, but i won’t spend today eating all the rubbish in the house either.

courtwood · 29/11/2020 10:53

May I join in too please?,I need to lose about 8 stone to be at the higher end of a healthy weight, I'm lazy and a comfort eater but need to get my arse in gear.

CaptainCallisto · 29/11/2020 11:24

I'll join. I've got five stone to lose, and am also a massive emotional eater. I've yo-yo dieted for years, and every time I say "this is going to be the last time" and aim to change my mindset, but then something happens and my anxiety triggers, and I end up bigger than I started.

It's further exacerbated by DS1 who has very restricted eating due to ASD, and DH's food allergies. I can't face cooking three meals so I end up doing something everyone will eat, which is usually crappy.

optimisticpessimist01 · 29/11/2020 11:32

Google "TDEE Calculator", when you click lifestyle always click the lowest option (little/no exercise I think is the option?). This will give you your basic calorie expenditure. Take off 500 from this and that is your target to eat every day. Log EVERYTHING on My Fitness Pal (oils, drinks etc)

Before the TDEE calculator I would eat 1200 calories a day and its completely unrealistic, I'd be so hungry I'd eventually cave and give up. After the TDEE calculator I now eat 1500 calories a day and I manage to lose 2ibs a week on average and I'm much happier, I'm a stone down in around 7 weeks so far.

Good luck OP!

optimisticpessimist01 · 29/11/2020 11:33

Also, forgot to add, search "volume eating recipes". Foods that are lower in calories so you can pile them on your plate and feel fuller. Once you've got into the new routines and habits it'll become second nature to you!
