Anyone want to join me in losing 10 stone?

So today I got accepted for ivf. Put on the waiting list and been told it's likely to be 2022. That's fine! But in that time I need to get my bmi to 25 and under. It's currently 52, judge away I know I've mainly done this to myself. Eating my feelings, steroids for my Crohns and mirtazapine haven't helped, but it's mostly me. I'm in hospital until Wednesday because of a molar pregnancy but on Thursday evening I've signed up for an exercise shred, 4 x classes a week and a calorie goal to stick to.

I can do this. I HAVE TO DO THIS.

So if you also have weight to lose or just want to watch a fatty transform her life in 18 months join in! There is no judgement here.

Today's weight 20 stone 4 pounds (I know because I was weighed for my treatment and I cried but it's over now. Good bye that weight, I will never see you again)

I will also be trying to walk 10k steps a day and god help me if I don't do it at work when I'm back there the dog isn't going to know to what's hit her!

I'm also going to try and practice intuitive/ mindful eating.. I'm getting used to it in hospital as the food is shit but also I'm using the calm app for my emotions and I'm trying really hard to deal all with all the shit that's going on in my head and not eat away my feelings.

I'll be using this as a blog/ diary if no one joins me so don't feel like you have to join in :) but if you want a safe space to talk about wanting to weigh less or you're thinking about doing it but don't know where to start or you just want to chat about how shit it is to be addicted to food/ have learnt to use food as a coping mechanism then welcome :)

But there is no body shaming here, no fat shaming, no thin shaming, everyone is different let's do this Thanks

I will join! I need to lose about 8 stone😓 I'm on my last ditch effort before I give up and have bariatric surgery, but I really don't want surgery - I want to do it myself! Hopefully joining this thread will help motivate me🤞

MawkishHawk · 30/11/2020 19:57

Sorry to hear you had bad news @LittleStepsDaily. I would normally be heading for the sharing bag of crisps and family size trifle to soothe me in those circumstances - but instead now I would try to think differently that rather than treat myself with food to help me feel better, I will look after myself properly and eat a healthy meal, maybe even take extra care preparing it, and do other things to treat myself, pamper bath or do my nails or something, and try and feel better that way, with mindful self care rather than the quick fix high of a binge. So difficult though!

LittleStepsDaily · 01/12/2020 14:10

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I managed to go to bed early and read instead of binge eating so I take that as a win! Have soup for dinner today as it's pretty cold where I am. I need to work on drinking more and upping my steps. Im waiting for my fitbit to arrive so mentally Im saying I dont need to do that until I can count them, which I know is silly!

Good luck
Can I just say with crohns , should you be eating a wheat product like wheatabix
I avoid all gluten and dairy

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/12/2020 15:29

@FMyUterus could they try you on a different tablet to mirtazapine? Dh is slowly coming off it from 45mg he’s down to 15mg or so now.

It doesn’t make some people hungry but it made him ravenous.

I take melatonin 1mg at night and my lockdown weight fell off, I was on one meal a day at one point because I just wasn’t hungry at all, I thought I had a stomach ulcer again at first but I wasn’t in pain.

FMyUterus · 01/12/2020 15:32

@Dowser yeah gluten isn't a trigger for me but dairy is. I'm on infliximab for it.

FMyUterus · 01/12/2020 15:33

@Fluffycloudland77 I am transitioning to another drug, need to taper off. I've got another week on the taper thank god!

Where do you get your melatonin from?

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 01/12/2020 15:35

Piping rock.com in America. I’ve got another years supply coming this week too.

Dh gained at least a stone on mirtazapine.

FMyUterus · 01/12/2020 16:23

I'm going home today! Now just have to wait DH to finish work and drive the hour and a half to come and get me Sad but I'm going to be sleeping in my own bed tonight 🙌

I'm so chuffed for you @FMyUterus

LittleStepsDaily · 01/12/2020 16:52

Pressed send early.

That's a long journey home, but it'll be worth it when you get to relax in your own bed tonight!

motherofawhirlwind · 01/12/2020 20:49

Hope you're home now @FMyUterus

We're on day 4 here and doing good. Have done lots of cooking so I can resort to Quorn Nuggets by Thursday and not feel too guilty.

@FMyUterus I'm vegan so can help with dairy free Smile

Kissthepastrychef · 01/12/2020 21:12

I'm in. I need to lose about 7. I feel awful. I lost 3 stone on SW, doing really well then something triggered overeating again and I've put it all back on

TowandaForever · 01/12/2020 21:24

@FatGirlShrinking

I've lost a lot of weight and do lots of walking. My loose skin remains and hasn't improved.

RB68 · 01/12/2020 21:38

I did have 7 and now have 6. Do what works for you and give yourself a break now and then and remember if you fall off the wagon tomorrow is another day

Good Luck

FMyUterus · 01/12/2020 21:51

I am home now. I'm starting tomorrow :) can't wait I'm weirdly excited!

HugeAckmansWife · 02/12/2020 07:13

Good luck with this. You've had some great advice but the problem is everyone has to find their own way and what worked for one won't for another for all sorts of reasons. I don't have the same amount to lose but I am working on 3st. Almost 1 gone by signing up to a 6 wk programme with a very small gym that basically does group Personal training, diet and nutrition plan etc. The gym is kettlebells, strength training rather than cardio which I'm really enjoying and as I am in my 40s, is reckoned to be more effective than slogging away on a treadmill. Its a great thing to have a long term goal but break it up. Go for X pounds by X date in 6 weeks or 2 months and don't make all the changes at once. If your life is unrecognisable, you'll soon tire of it.

BrrrIsland · 02/12/2020 08:11

Glad you’re home! I hope you got some quality sleep last night.
I have had 2 ok days. It’s my day off today so I’ll head to the shops to buy some extra veggies to pad out my HelloFresh meals with so I can ditch the potato sides.
I’m also going to go swimming. I’ll have to wedge myself into my swimming costume first though which will be a work out in itself! Grin Blush

AllAboutHallowsEve · 02/12/2020 14:11

2 days in and I haven't binged except on grapes 🤣 Feeling really motivated but taking it one day at a time.

Hope everything is going well for you OP and everyone else on this thread.

FMyUterus · 02/12/2020 16:01

It's so nice being home!

OP posts:
MawkishHawk · 03/12/2020 19:35

How’s it going first day back home OP?

We moved house yesterday so haven’t WI for a few days as the scales are packed and haven’t appeared yet. Have done well with sticking to diet though and this morning I went swimming for the first time in years. It wasn’t too bad (yes I am with you though @BrrrIsland getting into my costume was....interesting!). And I could do about half of what I would have been able to a few years ago and was knackered by it. But baby steps, each day will be better & easier.

SendMeAnAngel · 03/12/2020 19:40

Please take time out to watch this link on how this guy was fat, sick and nearly dead and turned his life around

SendMeAnAngel · 03/12/2020 19:41

The guy juiced for 30 days and changed his diet, it was inspirational to watch

lillg · 03/12/2020 20:22

Good luck OP and everyone joining in. I only lost about a stone before I got pregnant but a couple of things helped me.

  1. I was struggling to get to sleep so downloaded a sleep meditation for weight loss. It curbed my appetite slightly.
  2. If you're money orientated like me the waybetter app/website is great. You "bet" on yourself loosing 4% of your weight over 6 weeks and if you succeed you share the profits of the pot. It's a great motivator!
MawkishHawk · 04/12/2020 04:35

That app sounds interesting lillg. How do you prove you’ve done it?
