And who is the best live act you've seen? Mine was oasis, the last gig they did. They're nowhere near my favourite band, but they were fantastic!

Oh so missing live music!!!!
Had such a great year last year, fleeteood Mac at Wembley, Bon jovi x3, kiss, Alice Cooper, and had a similar year lined up 😭😭
Hopefully seeing Queen with Adam Lambert, The Eagles, Those Dam Crows, and a couple more next year 🤞

So missing it. Was supposed to be going to a jazz concert on Sunday that had been cancelled. Best live act Stone Roses in 1995.

Daisy - do you know The Struts?

Sounds like we like the same music Grin

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 28/11/2020 07:42

Yes missing it a lot here too!

Best was possibly Rolling Stones, Stone Roses, Oasis or Eels at Brixton.

Way too many to choose!

FunnyInjury · 28/11/2020 07:49

My last big night out was seeing Liam Gallagher in Amsterdam in February.

I've seen a couple of (socially distanced gigs) local bands this summer but I'm really missing live music.

And sport. Have a season ticket, saw 2 games this year before it all stopped.

I really miss my normal life Sad

TanteRose · 28/11/2020 07:58

Missing it sooo much!
Really missed festivals this summer too Sad

Last proper night out was in February to see Marc Almond! Amazing!

I was due to see A-ha, and Alanis Morissette, and Stormzy this year - all cancelled of course.

But best ever gig was Kate Bush in 2014 - out of this world!

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 28/11/2020 08:01

I normally see smaller indie groups play at our local venue, so missing it !

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 28/11/2020 08:02

Whoops best gig was probably Daft Punk Glastonbury 2000 (?)

nosswith · 28/11/2020 08:03

I am missing live music. Two of my relatives are professional musicians so missing it even more.

Littlefluffyclouds13 · 28/11/2020 08:07

Me!!
This is the first year in 33 years that I haven't been to a gig SadI miss gigs and festivals so much.
I saw my first band at 15 and never looked back.
My teenage dc love that I saw Oasis in a tiny pub, I actually haven't told them that I barely paid any attention to them as I was drinking and chatting to friends at the bar Blush

thesunwillout · 28/11/2020 08:22

Oh me.
Three gigs postponed this year, The Who, Boomtown Rats and a German band noones probably heard of.
Me and DD do alot of music gig weekend breaks away.
2 of the gigs postponed this yr are in her new uni town, she was so looking forward to actually living in the same place as a good gig!

Seen so many over the yrs but particularly in the 90's.
Pulp etc.
Fave gig few yrs ago Nick Cave.

Amazing.

Really hope things get better next year for live music. The artists and bands are champing at the bit to get out there.

dementedma · 28/11/2020 08:28

Teen DS is missing it. As an up and coming musician he had 4 shows lined up including playing at the Edinburgh Festival. All cancelled. Cant get together with his friends to play or rehearse. Mostly sits in his room now, getting more and more depressed about his future. My niece who is a theatre stage manager currently working in Macdonald's. Those in the performing arts world have been stuffed

Flyingflamingoes · 28/11/2020 08:30

Me too....
I usually see folly acts in small venues so I don't know how many of them will even be able to keep going on after this and the Brexit shitstorm.
Best gig last year- Great British Folk Festival at Butlins if all places featured Merry Hell - one of my favourite bands, plus Steeleye Span, Peatbog faeries, Skippinish, Eddi Reader.
Best gigs ever- Bellowhead, the Levellers and New Model Army- can't choose.
It's been a long summer with no festivals or Morris to light up the daysSad

Hearnoevilspeaknoevil · 28/11/2020 08:33

Me..
Not just the big arena ggs bit those little local venues.
Have the killers and guns and roses lined up.
Too many best nights. But I think the very first time I saw a live band. A ha believe it or not as that: the excitement and the communion gave me my life long love.
Long live live music

SenorFrog · 28/11/2020 08:46

It's the thing I've missed the most this year, I've seen some fabulous bands over the years and enjoyed most of them with only notable exceptions. It's hard to pick the best but stand outs have been Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac, there's a reason those bands have stood the test of time! More modern have been Muse, Foo Fighters and Depeche Mode (wasn't sure if I should've put them in the 'classics category). I also had an absolute brilliant night at Erasure and the B-52's. Oh my god, stop mw before I rattle on all day.

LST · 28/11/2020 09:02

Greta Van Fleet were the last band I went to see. It was November last year. They blew me away. Had so many gigs and festivals cancelled this year 😥

middleager · 28/11/2020 09:05

Like pp upthread this is the first time I haven't been to a gig in 33 years.

We went once a month, often to just see tributes, but we also see the real acts too. Our children are teens so we could pop up our local venue for a couple of hours, perfect. We'd only just started this!

Seen lots of bands over the years and been to lots of festivals too.

The Cult are amazing live and The Cure a few years ago at Wembley were superb. I saw Nirvana's last UK performance and The Manics with Richie. There was drama once when Richard Ashcroft broke/fractured his leg on stage at a gig I was at and I've waited for hours for,Axl Rose to take the stage. Hell, I even met The Stone Roses after a Brixton Academy all nighter!

At 15 I queued for hours to get tickets for my faves, Depeche Mode. We got to the NEC early and blagged backstage passes, so we met the band.

I have so many memories of gigs. I love live music. The last tribute I saw were The Smiths at my local venue, now I hear it's laying off staff as we are in Tier 3. So sad.

insancerre · 28/11/2020 09:05

I’m missing gigs so much
I was supposed to have seen foals, Jesus and Mary chain, billie Eilish, pearl jam, and peter hook playing joy division
The last gig was Julian Cope in February, seems like such a long time ago
The best gig was the cure in Hyde park, especially when they played burn

middleager · 28/11/2020 09:07

Insa we go to watch Hooky too, usually a couple of times a year. Gutted!

emmetgirl · 28/11/2020 09:12

Not music but live comedy. I'm missing it SO MUCH!!!

Chewwithyourfuckingmouthclosed · 28/11/2020 09:16

I was meant to see pearl jam this summer Sad
I normally go to a few big concerts, several smaller ones and my local live music dive.
I really miss it all.
I was wandering through the park a few months ago and there was something going on at the bandstand. I actually got a little bit teary about the fact I was watching someone play live, even though it wasn't my kinda thing. Smile

OutComeTheWolves · 28/11/2020 09:17

Me! The last band I saw was the dead south back in spring. I'm really missing it now.

Chewwithyourfuckingmouthclosed · 28/11/2020 09:17

Oh, and my last gig was Frank Turner the day before all the venues closed

Ghostlyglow · 28/11/2020 09:17

Yes. Going out and going to gigs is what I do and always has been. I have no life now and it's fucking miserable Sad
