Good hand cream for very dry hands

I have to be very honest, I never washed my hands as often as I do now and my hands have never been as dry, so could anyone recommend a hand cream for dry hands?

Body shop henna one is very good, not as absorbent as some, but it makes a huge difference if your skin is at the cracked and scaly stage.

Svelteinmydreams · 27/11/2020 10:53

Diprobase is good , as is Neutrogena Norwegian formula. I personally find some with lavender in them good too, but I can’t find my tube to tell you what it is.

TheStripes · 27/11/2020 10:54

Working Hands cream is very good.

Body Shop hemp hand cream is amazing!

WitchFindersAreEverywhere · 27/11/2020 11:01

Hemp hand cream. That’s what I meant!

FinallyFluid · 27/11/2020 11:02

Clarins

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 27/11/2020 11:02

Neutrogena for the day, and some O'Keefe's Working Hands for overnight. Not very glamorous, but work.

Pralinelatte · 27/11/2020 11:06

Another recommendation for Body Shop hemp handcream - it's amazing!

NellNorth · 27/11/2020 11:07

L’occitane Very Dry Skin Intensive Hand Balm. I keep it beside where I watch telly, so apply it after the day of hand washing. My hands look10 years younger! Smell fabulous.

Letsbepositive · 27/11/2020 11:10

QV cream for dry skin, I use this after radiotherapy as it was recommended, its excellent.

soloula · 27/11/2020 11:11

Nursem is brilliant

ilovespinach · 27/11/2020 12:11

Another one for Body Shop Hemp cream

CoffeeChocolateGin · 27/11/2020 12:19

Aquaphor is great. Quite sticky but fabulous for over night or backs of your hands in the day.

ZoominMoomin · 27/11/2020 12:23

Aldi do their own version of the Body Shop's hemp hand cream and it's only like £1 something and it's amazing! Having been a worshipper of the BS hemp cream, the Aldi stuff is just as good without breaking the bank. It's under the Lacura brand, it should be with all the skincare stuff.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/11/2020 12:24

I asked this question a while ago and must have tried 20 different hand creams.

The only one that works for me is Avon's Avocado stuff. Can't remember the precise name.

frolicmum · 27/11/2020 13:21

Looks as though I'm going for the body shop hemp cream!

@ZoominMoomin I don't have an Aldi near me, so will buy the real deal!

Thanks everyone, I hope this will help my dry hands x

Epaderm. It's pharmacy only but you may be able to get it on prescription. It's quite expensive.

TheBitterBoy · 27/11/2020 13:39

The hemp hand cream is great, but Eucerin hand cream with urea is better, I only put it on overnight and it's like waking with new hands. I find I rarely need handcream during the day now and I used to get terrible cracked thumbs in the winter, but no more.

LoisLanyard · 27/11/2020 13:46

Diprobase or hemp cream are the only things that work for me. I have a pair of cotton gloves I wear at night sometimes (socks also do the job if you dont have any), which I put on after slathering loads of moisturiser)

Whenwillow · 27/11/2020 13:49

Can I suggest switching to Dove soap? It has moisturiser in it, and I can wash my hands many times a day without them drying out.
Use any other soap and my hands are sore and dry by lunchtime (and I find handcream on chapped hands makes them even more uncomfortable)

Nipoleon · 27/11/2020 13:51

My hands got horribly sore and the doctor now prescribes Dermol 500 soap. It really helps if your hands are cracked and dry.

LadyEloise · 27/11/2020 13:53

Nursem sounds great. It's a brand I haven't heard of.

LadyWaiting · 27/11/2020 15:33

I use Vaseline Intensive Care 'Healthy hands Stronger nails' hand cream - available from Boots/Superdrug/Wilkos and the likes. I use that after every hand-washing as my nails are really weak along with my hands looking haggard. I got 2 x 200ml bottles for £4 or £5 I think in Superdrug. They had an offer on. Pink Bottle. Light and easily absorbed. You can get a smaller tube for your handbag.

At night I use Cien (Lidl) SOS Concentrated Hand Cream. Thick and takes about 3-4 mins to fully absorb, so I just have it on my bedside locker and use it at night. It is in the toiletries aisle with the hand creams. Red and white tube. Uber cheap.

RumJerrySailorRum · 27/11/2020 15:40

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour hand cream.

Expensive, but worth every penny as you don't need very much.

It cures my exczema.

LadyWaiting · 27/11/2020 15:42

I saw someone mention Dove above - this is the hand wash I have on my sinks now - www.gordonsdirect.com/baby-dove-rich-moisture-head-to-toe-wash-200ml.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA5IL-BRAzEiwA0lcWYlQqTrwr9zXPVptavzqXfWnl4qdVilyb8vEI0rGwyfj-48iz3hFduRoC1vUQAvD_BwE
It's Baby Dove Rich Moisture Head to Toe wash. I bought it in Poundland originally, but I've also bought it from either Morrisons or Asda too.
