He complained about my Bubble & Sqeak

So in keeping with watching all the pennies currently I've made DP Bubble & Sqeak for the first time.

I grew up with cooking it till crispy and bordering on almost burning. Turning it all over and repeating again and again until you have lots of glorious crispy bits all the way through

DP said that's wrong and cooked some that was too much to fit in the frying pan and he stirred it around a bit till heated through. It was mushy and basically oily and not nice to me but he said I was doing it wrong.

Was I, how do you cook yours? It's rather knocked me for six I have to confess.

Yours was perfect. His sounds awful. LTB Grin

The only thing I do differently to you is add grated cheese. I want bubble and squeak now...

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 26/11/2020 18:37

Agree

nosswith · 26/11/2020 18:39

Have you got the Ovaltine ready for a bedtime drink?

AmandaHoldensLips · 26/11/2020 18:41

Yours is correct and lush.
Your DP sounds like an animal.

devildeepbluesea · 26/11/2020 18:42

Like yours, obviously!

muddledmidget · 26/11/2020 18:49

I've got pizza arriving in 10 mins but now I really want bubble and squeak, cooked like yours obviously. His sounds like a greasy reheated roast dinner

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 26/11/2020 18:53

You seriously need a new patio op. ..

MrsGrindah · 26/11/2020 18:56

Well we can’t really answer this until we know if you served it with HP sauce or not.

TurquoiseDragon · 26/11/2020 19:04

I do mine like yours, OP. I love the crispy bits.

ladymalfoy45 · 26/11/2020 19:06

Crispy all the way.

Broadbeanssleeping · 26/11/2020 19:07

Yep LTB

ShirleyPhallus · 26/11/2020 19:09

@MrsGrindah

Well we can’t really answer this until we know if you served it with HP sauce or not.
Or in a sandwich with a slice of cheese
CuppaZa · 26/11/2020 19:12

Your way is correct. Your DH is mad Grin

AintPageantMaterial · 26/11/2020 19:13

Or in a sandwich with a slice of cheese

That’s genius.

SlopesOff · 26/11/2020 19:14

Crispy and a little bit burnt, but not with onions or bacon in. These do not belong at all.

A fried egg on top, as long as it doesn't have red bits in it. And Branston pickle.

exLtEveDallas · 26/11/2020 19:15

Crispy as hell with a fried egg on top.
His sounds like shit.

HavelockVetinari · 26/11/2020 19:15

LTB

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/11/2020 19:17

NO to his oily, mushy offerings ❌ ✋ 🤢🤮

Yours is correct, used to get this after swimming as a child! Food of the Gods!!!

DPotter · 26/11/2020 19:18

Crispy burnt bits are the best and yes with HP sauce.
My current fav. drink of an evening is ovaltine!

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 26/11/2020 19:20

He is so very, very wrong Shock

Crispy all the way!

NeonIcedcoffee · 26/11/2020 19:24

Ooh your bubble and squeak sounds lovely op. I love almost burnt stuff and I love bubble and squeak

Chloemol · 26/11/2020 19:29

Yours is correct

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/11/2020 19:29

I would prefer your B&S, but I suspect it's one of those dishes where you want it exactly the way you had it as a child.

Like, I know moussaka should have aubergine instead of potato and lamb instead of beef mince but... I still prefer it the 1980's Dublin way!

boatyardblues · 26/11/2020 19:30

@HavelockVetinari

LTB
Agree. Crispy bits are the best.
MrsMoastyToasty · 26/11/2020 19:31

He's a wrong'un . LTB.
