How much does your window cleaner charge you?

I realise different areas, size house etc but I've never employed a window cleaner before.

I live in a bungalow, small village so not city prices
He cleaned all the windows outside only, wiped the sills and frames, cleaned the gutter ( only low) and cleaned the UPVC sides of the dorma window. Nothing was filthy. My dad usually helps do them but he can't get here now.

He was here about 1 hour The windows were left wet
( is that normal?)
He did a good job. I have no complaints other than price
But it was £75!

£12 every 5 weeks
Rural village, house has 10 windows, french doors and front door.
£75 is comply ridiculous, you’ve been had.

Level75 · 26/11/2020 14:52

£25 every month. We have 15 windows and 3 doors.

Level75 · 26/11/2020 14:52

So £75 is ridiculous. I live in a Northern city.

£7 per time.

Lilac95 · 26/11/2020 14:54

£5 to do front bedroom windows and a bay window. I can understand charging more for the gutters but £75 is ridiculous! Why didn’t you ask the price before he started the work?

2anddone · 26/11/2020 14:55

Love in a village in a terraced house. 10 windows and a glass conservatory made up of 18 windows so 28 items in total to clean £10 every 4 or 8 weeks I can choose!

UncomfortableSilence · 26/11/2020 14:55

£75 Shock That's nuts!

I have a large 3 bed semi, big bay windows, bi folds on the extension, a precarious original stained glass window at the side, old fashioned window cleaner who wipes down the sills etc £10, he's here about 15 mins or so, oh and I'm in London.

I'd look for someone else.

JogOnRon · 26/11/2020 14:56

Shit! I thought as much.
He comes recommended too, by lots of people. He's an established chap so I thought it was standard pricing.
Even adding the gutters it's still extortionate.
Imagine £75 quid an hour!

Mine charges me £7 but as I’m in my late grandparents house and they had him since he was a ‘small boy’ he hasn’t but up the prices. I think he does around 8 windows - the front upstairs but not the back. I don’t think he does the windowsills either.

I asked him when I took over the house how often he plans on coming/what the deal is. He laughed anywhere between 6 - 10 weeks and to do the windows for £7. He’s here for around 15 minutes.

Laufeythejust · 26/11/2020 14:58

£75?! No way!
Ours is £10 every month.

JogOnRon · 26/11/2020 14:58

Would windows normally be left wet?

UncomfortableSilence · 26/11/2020 14:58

At £75 an hour I bet he's driving around with his ladders on a Bentley!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/11/2020 15:00

£7.50 a time, they come every fortnight. 2 bed semi. £75 is insane!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/11/2020 15:01

6 windows in total.

iwannaseeyou · 26/11/2020 15:03

When we moved in I had a good clean of all windows in a 5 bed, fascias, guttering, conservatory roof and all windows. He charged £50 as a one off, which sounds similar to what you had.
Now he charges £20 every 8 weeks to just do windows.

GreyishDays · 26/11/2020 15:05

Yes windows left wet here. We have paid about £15, but no upvc or gutters.

Maybe ask how much a standard clean is?

Lilac95 · 26/11/2020 15:06

My windows are always left wet, also forgot to mention mine also cleans the front door and porch floor

Pinkyandthebrainz · 26/11/2020 15:07

£8

CMOTDibbler · 26/11/2020 15:07

£20 - 5 bed house and conservatory. They don't do the gutters or window surrounds though, and they take 20 mins tops.
Looking locally, its about £40 for a gutter clean out, and £80 for gutters and fascias, so maybe your price isn't that bad

NoGoodPunsLeft · 26/11/2020 15:07

£11 roughly once a month, 3 bed detached house with garage & patio doors.

Ours would charge £25 for a one off but more than that is crazy!

Surely you agree a price before you say yes Hmm

Level75 · 26/11/2020 15:07

Oh actually we have 26 windows (can't believe I miscounted so badly) so less than £1 per window.

Cuddling57 · 26/11/2020 15:08

I think he has charged you more if he has cleaned out your gutters. Is that what he has done? They can be full of leaves and sludge. Pies came to £60 for gutters alone.
Did he say how much just to do the windows?

Elpheba · 26/11/2020 15:09

Once every two months, £50 a time but we are in a big house so it’s less than £1 a window! Definitely worth having a word about price.

ExplodingCarrots · 26/11/2020 15:09

Live in a bungalow in a small town, including 2 patio doors and panoramic doors. £15 every 6 weeks, but that's just the glass. Windows are left wet. If I want sills, guttering etc I think we paid between £30-40.

dementedpixie · 26/11/2020 15:13

Adding in gutters costs much more and so does cleaning window sills. I get my windows done for £8 and as he uses a brush and pole system the windows are left wet.

Did he clean out the gutters or just wash the outside of them?
