How much does your window cleaner charge you?

I realise different areas, size house etc but I've never employed a window cleaner before.

I live in a bungalow, small village so not city prices
He cleaned all the windows outside only, wiped the sills and frames, cleaned the gutter ( only low) and cleaned the UPVC sides of the dorma window. Nothing was filthy. My dad usually helps do them but he can't get here now.

He was here about 1 hour The windows were left wet
( is that normal?)
He did a good job. I have no complaints other than price
But it was £75!

Do you live in a mansion Elpheba?

11 windows and a conservatory £12

NanTheWiser · 26/11/2020 15:23

@JogOnRon

Would windows normally be left wet?
Did he use the pole system with purified water? That does leave the windows wet, but no water marks afterwards. Also more expensive than a traditional ladder job. I have a semi in Surrey, my window cleaner uses the pole system and charges £21 every two months, leaves them sparkling. I think having the gutters cleaned has bumped up the cost, so maybe find out what he charges just for window cleaning.

£20 for a semi detached with a loft extension. For the loft he comes in and only does the french door windows in the bedroom, not the velux ones.

He comes once a month and the windows are never wet when he leaves. No gutter though.

£20 for three big windows and 10 smaller ones, village, two men, took about 20 minutes (first time we've had them). I imagine gutters etc would have doubled time and cost. £75 is really taking the piss I think.
Yes windows left to dry naturally.

Confuzzlediddled · 26/11/2020 15:43

4 bed detached with a garage, £12 every month.

Ours is a long pole so yep left wet but not too wet...

I'm stunned at £75!

Mochudubh · 26/11/2020 15:47

£7, 3 bed terrace, once a month. He also cleaned our gutters for £30.

DidgeDoolittle · 26/11/2020 15:49

I have 12 windows, 3 doors and 2 sets of patio doors. All left shiny and dry for £13/month.

vanillandhoney · 26/11/2020 15:51

£8, front and back.

sqirrelfriends · 26/11/2020 15:53

Ours is £12 and cleans 8 windows, the front door and french doors. He cleans the frames and sills as well.

They do the whole estate so probably quite cost effective.

HotSince63 · 26/11/2020 15:58

I'm thinking my window cleaner must be way too cheap! We pay £40 for a 6 bedroom detached house with separate annexe.

WildRosie · 26/11/2020 16:01

7 quid per visit, every two months. I only have three windows (small flat) but I'm two floors up. This means the cleaners use this reach and wash/brush thing rather than climb a ladder with a sponge and squeegee. It doesn't get the windows as clean but it's better than nowt.

Gilead · 26/11/2020 16:04

£6.00 nine windows plus front door and patio doors.

DarkMintChocolate · 26/11/2020 16:05

£15 a month for a 4 bedroom detached!

parietal · 26/11/2020 16:11

£50 for one hour visit in London, lots and lots of windows including roof lights cleaned inside & out.

NamelessNinja · 26/11/2020 16:13

£20 once every couple of months. 3 bed semi with a conservatory and quite a lot of windows. £75 is extortionate!

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 26/11/2020 16:18

I live in a bungalow in a small village and I pay £6.50 for all windows. This doesn't include gutters etc.

MummytoCSJH · 26/11/2020 16:59

£5 every 2 weeks..

MummytoCSJH · 26/11/2020 16:59

2 months even.

papaelf · 26/11/2020 17:02

The gutters are a job themselves though.

What's the ongoing cost of the window cleaning?

EnglishRain · 26/11/2020 17:05

I have eight standard windows, two small ones and two half glazed doors. We pay £16. My windows are a window cleaners worst nightmare - 12 panes of glass in each of the right standards Grin

NUFC69 · 26/11/2020 17:17

Our windows cleaners (2 of them) charge £12 for our four bedroomed detached house with a conservatory, and my DH has just decided that we will give them more because it's not enough. Last year a separate company came out and cleared the gutters and wiped down the fascias for £120. We have just arranged for them to come again to clear the gutters only and they are charging £60 for that. We live in Northumberland which is quite a cheap area for things like this. If you live in the south east £75 is probably not too expensive.

TakingTheLowRoad · 26/11/2020 17:23

17 windows, 3 doors, sunroom with full glass on three sides, £15 once a month. Village location.

copperoliver · 26/11/2020 17:43

I think he's charging 6 months at a time. X

MenaiMna · 26/11/2020 17:45

£13 every four weeks. Two doors and sidelights, five large, two small windows on a bungalow.
It might have been the gutter cleaning that cost so much - at least I hope so- otherwise you've been thoroughly ripped off!

Angel2702 · 26/11/2020 17:48

£7 for front windows.
