Who has been your all-time Strictly favourite pairing?

And why? And which of your favourite couple's dances have been the best in your opinion? I am SO bored, please play along with me :).

I watched last night's episode on catch up, (I'm finding it very flat this year) and ended up seeking out dances from past series.

I think my all time favourite pairing (actually, should probably say I've only watched since 2014) has been Debbie McGee and Giovanni. And my favourite dance of theirs is the Argentine tango. As to why they're my favourite couple - I think because Debbie is a similar age to me, lost her dh shortly before I lost mine, and I just found her inspiring and beautiful to watch.

Karen Harding and Mark Ramprakash. He was a great dancer, but started off so shy and nervous. Watching his progress was quite something. Watch their Argentine tango on YouTube. Amazing.

MargaretHooper · 22/11/2020 15:17

Kevin and Stacey. I think Kevin was not feeling great at the start of the run. Stacey made him a different person. You could see him changing in front of your eyes.

Also, Mark R was a non-dancer with no performing arts training or experience, though he was obviously fit. I think that lack of performance experience made his achievement impressive. Plus both he and Karen were total professionals.

Loved Debbie and Giovanni, and Mark and Karen too!

Lampzade · 22/11/2020 15:21

Definitely Mark R and Karen.
It was great to see an obviously shy man (who was uncomfortable with expressing his emotions) transform over the weeks to a lovely dancer.
Karen Hardy was one of the best dancers and teachers on Strictly

I'm going to make a list of all your favourite couples and dances, and watch them in bed tonight.

I liked Gio and Faye too. And, unsurprisingly, my favourite pairing so far this year has been, you guessed it, Gio and Ranvir :)

Danny Mac and Oti!

MacDuffsMuff · 22/11/2020 15:28

Also loved Karen & Mark!

I loved Pasha and Caroline F

Matt D'Angelo and Flavia were fire, but I had a massive girl crush on her.

Susan Calman and Kevin.

Danny Mac (😍) and Oti.

Anyone and Oti really, I'm loving her partnership with Bill Bailey.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 22/11/2020 15:29

Danny Mac and Oti. No, there was no 'journey' as he was already a great dancer, but their samba and American smooth were just breathtaking.

Caroline and Pasha's showdance is also one of my favourites.

AliasGrape · 22/11/2020 15:33

I loved Oti and Danny Mac - I know he was a bit of a ringer but it just gave me so much joy watching them! My favourite dance was their samba but also loved the Charleston and the American Smooth.

My very favourite dance of all time was Jill Halfpenny and Darren’s jive though.

Twizbe · 22/11/2020 15:35

Kevin and Susan Calman. I loved that pairing. So much fun to watch and such a genuine friendship. I loved their friendly rhumba as well.

merryhouse · 22/11/2020 15:36

Ha, my first thought was Mark and Karen!

Rhine · 22/11/2020 15:36

Stacey and Kevin
Ed and Katya
Alesha and Matthew
Kara and Artem
Chris and Ola
Anita and Gleb

NoTimeToDiet · 22/11/2020 15:37

I watched James Jordan and Pamela Stephenson’s rumba recently and it was beautiful.

I liked Kevin and Susan for their Bring Me Sunshine dance.

Debbie and Giovanni were lovely together.

Fiftyandmore · 22/11/2020 15:46

I'd forgotten about Anita and Gleb. Their Paso was good if I remember rightly.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jay and Aliona and their jive. I wasn't so keen on them myself but I know they were very popular.

Mark R and anyone!

TheMarzipanDildo · 22/11/2020 15:49

Danny and Oti were just the best

moveoverhogger · 22/11/2020 16:03

Mark Ramprakash & Karen

Jill Halfpenny & Darren

MargaretHooper · 22/11/2020 16:45

Also enjoyed the (shortlived) partnership of Rev Richard Coles and Dianne - they had nothing at all in common, and the Rev couldn't dance for toffee, but they were delightful with each other. And I have high hopes of Richard doing the needful when Dianne and Joe get around to getting married.

I was just coming on to say Jay and Aliona. He wasn't the most likeable but i thought the 2 of them were so well matched and their jive was out of this world. I saw them live on the strictly tour and it was eve better.
