How long do you spend in the shower?

It must take me about 10 minutes. I do feel I spend far too long in the shower in the mornings. How long is normal?

Hair wash day (long hair) about 15-20 min, non hair wash day approx 10 min (i do use 3 products on my face in the shower though)

dementedpixie · 20/11/2020 10:20

Depends if I'm washing my hair or not.

10/15 if washing hair
5 if not

GreyishDays · 20/11/2020 10:23

About three minutes if not washing hair. Five or so if I am. Don’t hang around!

Pyewhacket · 20/11/2020 10:27

When I come off shift at work, 10 minutes. At home 5.

MawnyStannit · 20/11/2020 10:30

@Pyewhacket May I ask what you do for a job where you shower at the end of a shift?

CremeEggThief · 20/11/2020 10:31

At least 10 minutes. Closer to 20, if I'm shaving my arm pits and washing my hair with shampoo too(I normally wash with conditioner only).

For the people who rush- don't you enjoy just standing there, basking in the hot water, as part of it?

SMurphy91 · 20/11/2020 10:32

Quick wash 3-5 mins
Add washing hair/shaving legs 10-15 mins

farawayplanet · 20/11/2020 10:33

I hate showering, so I can do it in about two to three minutes. I have easily washed short hair and I don't condition it or shave anywhere.

Plussizejumpsuit · 20/11/2020 10:34

If I need to be quick 5 mins with a hair wash and brushing my teeth. Which takes 2 mins as it's timed. Yes I brush my teeth in the shower.

Non hair wash days I have to wash my fringe so really not much less.

But if I'm enjoying it or shaving etc the 15 mins. Do you need to be quicker? We're all so rushed in our lives enjoy that 10 mins.

PurpleDaisies · 20/11/2020 10:35

10 minutes here. Unless the heating hadn’t been on andthen it’s as long as possible prolonging getting out in the cold.

Pahrump · 20/11/2020 10:37

If hairwashing, about 15 mins.

If not hairwashing, about 5 mins.

love it but where I live you're charged for hot water and also charged on how much water runs away.

CremeEggThief · 20/11/2020 10:48

That's fair enough then, dogmandu.

unmarkedbythat · 20/11/2020 10:51

If I'm having a shower before work in the mornings, 5-7 minutes or so- get in, wet hair, shampoo hair, rinse hair, apply conditioner, wash body, rinse conditioner off, done.

If I have no time pressure, ages and ages. I like to turn it up really hot and just stand under it until the bathroom is steamed up and I feel cooked :)

No, I despise being wet and dread being dried because being damp is even worse. 😖
IsThisNameTaken · 20/11/2020 10:54

Between 5 and 10 mins. DH spends a good 25 mins in there - doing what I have no idea but claims it's impossible to do it 'properly' any quicker Confused

AfterSchoolWorry · 20/11/2020 10:55

dread getting dried

Dazedandconfused10 · 20/11/2020 10:56

5 mins if it's a pre work shower. If it's a before bed shower as long as physically possible

lastqueenofscotland · 20/11/2020 10:58

I can spend ages in there just with my thoughts, I love it.

vdbfamily · 20/11/2020 11:03

DH and I are both quick showerers ie less than 5 minutes but we have 3 teenagers and they seem to shower for HOURS at a time. DH sometimes turns pump off to make a point. I think the girls just leave shower running whilst they shave legs etc. They often start at about 11pm too which is even more irritating!

Twobrews · 20/11/2020 11:04

I always think I take ages but it's only about 5 mins maybe slightly longer if I wash my hair and shave my legs.
We've moved to a house with a water meter and it's so much more expensive, I don't feel I can luxuriate for too long!

unebaguettepastropcuite · 20/11/2020 11:06

3-5 minutes. How long can it take to get yourself wet, lather yourself up and rinse off?
Any more is waste of water and whatever means you use to heat it up

MyNameForToday1980 · 20/11/2020 11:08

I always wash my hair (greasy, and yes I know I could train it to be washed less, but don't want to deal with the grease in the meantime). And showers take 8-10 minutes.

I'm quite low-fi though: soap, shampoo, conditioner, face wash, rinse, out.

snowstorm2012 · 20/11/2020 11:09

Not long at all, slightly longer if I'm washing my hair.

I hate the bathroom getting steamy so if my sons aren't home I leave the door open and the window is always open anyway.

WankPuffins · 20/11/2020 11:10

About 15 mins.
I could be way quicker but it's the only time I don't have a child attached to me.
