What Xmas food shall I add to delivery next week?

Normally have a strict mental rule not to start eating mince pies until 1 Dec, but I feel that this year I can start slightly early, next delivery on 26 Nov.
Other than mince pies... what treats should I be ordering...? Mind has gone blank. I did put a Baileys on the order though...

What would I do with chestnuts? I saw them in the Xmas online section and thought about buying them, but then wasn’t really sure what to do with them other than chop up & put in stuffing?

Can you trust yourselves not to eat it all beforehand?

And btw Baileys is on offer for £10 in Asda tomorrow.

Happyelfjokeday · 18/11/2020 18:45

Ah I’m giving myself full permission to eat it beforehand!!
Great tip on the Baileys

This Friday I have 3 bottles of decent red wine coming (Tesco.ie special offer), plus a bottle of Tesco's own brand Irish Country Cream (so I can make a direct comparison to Baileys and buy accordingly next year, there's quite a price difference and, well, any old excuse, really!), and a box each of Tesco cat and dog cranberry and turkey flavoured treats. Next week it's white wine and frozen sausage rolls, I think - oh, and a jar of mincemeat and some frozen pastry in case the mince pies run out :)

Thanks to this thread there will also be cashews and peanuts!

Titsywoo · 18/11/2020 18:48

Cheese! I love those little cheese bake things - aldi do a great cheddar and ale one. 15 mins to heat up then dumk your bread in. Amazing.

Also pate and chutney and crackers - so many good ones at this time of year.

All the tiny food too - I could live on canapes in Dec - who wants a normal sized burger when you can eat 4 little ones Grin

SummerHouse · 18/11/2020 18:50

Mulled wine.
Scented candle (with cinnamon and that)
Cranberry sauce.
M and s do this amazing box of cookies (£3 from £5 at the mo)

SummerHouse · 18/11/2020 18:53

Titsy I flipping love those cheese bakes. Asda do a Wensleydale and chilli one but I love each and every one.

Happyelfjokeday · 18/11/2020 18:54

Ah yes some sort of melty cheese thing to dip in, great idea & very indulgent so fits the bill for pre- Xmas treats.
I did also put cranberry sauce on the order but not quite sure what I’m planning to do with it in advance?!

Mulled wine! I have a mulled wine spice bag I bought about 3 years ago and have never made mulled wine with it- maybe I’ll buy a cheap & cheerful bottle of red and finally mull some wine...

Shortbread!

Also lots of the Christmas goodies will be on offer right now eg Waitrose Stollen is 1/3 off and crackers are half price. I'm trying to add whatever is on offer each week to my weekly shop

ancientgran · 18/11/2020 18:57

I've been happily eating mince pies for at least a month. I don't need anything else really, mince pies all the way.

GreyishDays · 18/11/2020 18:57

Smoked salmon
Part baked bread
Nice butter
(Not to go together!)

Happyelfjokeday · 18/11/2020 19:00

Shortbread! What a good shout

Inextremis after extensive testing I'm confident Tesco Bailey's is just as good as Bailey's.

We have - York Fruits, those Dutch butter cookies, selection boxes, tins of sweets, toblerones, and gingerbread. We also have lemonade and iron bru. Bucks fizz. Mince pies. 30 bottles of wine Blush. Tesco Bailey's. Chocolate oranges.

Still need crisps and nuts (if I buy too early I'll eat them). Sherry. Whisky and Ferrero Rocher (basically all the stuff I haven't the willpower to keep out of)

FannysSteadiedBuffs · 18/11/2020 19:11

Mini stolen
Pigs in blankets
Crackers
Celebrations, matchmakers, maltesers, chocolate oranges, chocolate coins.
