Mainly because he didn’t want to go to school and I was tickling him to get off the couch

8 punches on my arms
I walked away

He then said I had no friends and I’d wasted my life

I’ve talked to his school about his behaviour, I self referred to cahms 2 weeks ago after he hit me.

What do I do?

Post on the sn chat board. You can't parent a neurodiverse child in the same way as a NT child. Won't work. Though it is pissing annoying sometimes not to be able to as it is a lot bloody easier...

Have you explored medication for his ADHD?

At least you are getting to the cause. Well done! You are doing the right thing. Flowers

I just name changed as this is quite private.
I have been through very similar with my son for the last 3 years. It was triggered by the death of my husband, his dad. He is 15 now and we seem to have come through but it was really difficult and I did some things right but made many mistakes. I did call the police after I warned him that if he ever touched me again I would . I actually think that was helpful in drawing that boundary. Be aware that CAHMS are really overrun. I had one awful experience with them where we were dismissed but later had a counsellor through them who was very helpful.
I too felt absolutely awful and felt ashamed of what was happening. It is abuse though and I knew it needed to be dealt with in order for my son to grow up to have healthy relationships as well as for my own safety and sanity. It felt very lonely at times.
It can get better. Feel free to message me if that would be helpful.
