Eggy, have fun with the show. I will admit I had to google Graham Norton as he's not available here without an expensive BBC subscription. I was curious as DH has some relatives named Norton on his British side, but there's likely no connection.

In other exciting news I received one of DH's Christmas presents today, a baking kit for four different kinds of chocolate cookies that was inspired by someone mentioning a similar service that was popular in the UK.

@MissConductUS Smile

I had the flu jab, only 10 minutes of waiting in the rain - could have been a lot worse, at least it wasn't snowing or howling a gale! No side effects to report. Currently sitting waiting for DD to arrive home from work, and DH is cooking dinner. This is the life.

MissConductUS · 03/12/2020 20:14

baubling, I had my flu shot jab in August and my arm was sore for two weeks. It's well tolerated in most patients. Lovely that your DH is making dinner. Mine makes dinner too. He even does laundry and food shopping. Smile

This is our Graham Norton. He's Irish, not British though.
It's just finished, and it was excellent. It's on tomorrow night for those that have BBC.

Sadly I'll have to wait for GN snippits on YouTube.

halfpasteleven · 04/12/2020 03:45

Graham Norton is hilarious...

His laugh is infectious..

I will try to watch it tomorrow (later today) Eggy

Like all my bedtimes lately though, it will depend on DD and her sleeping habits between now and then. She's just had a bottle so it bodes well for GN later.

EggyPegg · 04/12/2020 06:56

I like GN too. He also gets excellent guests.

The DC school emailed yesterday afternoon. DS1s bubble has closed as there has been potential close contact with a positive case. Apparently it was last Friday, so we're already a week into the 14 day period. He's home today and all of next week. His mood went from elated that he was going to be off school for a week, to furious that he couldn't go trampolining tomorrow as DH had booked tickets for both DC. He's now indifferent and is up and already watching Harry Potter 3.
He has a drum lesson on Fridays, and his drum teacher has offered to do it via Zoom so that he doesn't miss out for the next two weeks. This is how we continued them over lockdown, so he's used to that set up.

silkiecat · 04/12/2020 07:21

DS just woke me up and said look outside. I saw snow all over the thatched roof and the ground. I said are your silkie chickens OK? He said yes. It's their first snow.

Then DS said that is rabbit banging. I said maybe its as he can hear you but not see you. He said no it'll be as he wants his breakfast and he's impatient.

silkiecat · 04/12/2020 07:34

The cat is howling to go outside, she won't be happy with DH when she finds he's covered her garden with snow. Angry cat.

TenCornMaidens · 04/12/2020 07:43

Snow here too Xmas GrinXmas Grin

Champagneforeveryone · 04/12/2020 07:44

Ooh silkie whereabouts are you roughly?

silkiecat · 04/12/2020 07:53

Cambridgeshire.

Now DD has just woken up and I said look outside. She said ohh snow, is school closed? I said no. She said it was her friend who just moved from abroad's first snow.

Champagneforeveryone · 04/12/2020 08:06

I love the snow so am very jealous Envy

If it snows badly here (extremely rare) we would be ferried into work by 4x4 police cars - the neighbours would be scandalised to see me carted off by the police Grin

Unfortunately I already drive a 4x4 so don't qualify for a personal door to door service which is a shame as (childishly) I think it would be quite exciting Hmm

Spudlet · 04/12/2020 08:13

Just rain here although it might turn to snow later. It’s going to chilly at school for DS with all the windows having to be open 🙈🥶

PirateCatQueen · 04/12/2020 08:16

Hello there

Had a gluten free caramel Choux bun earlier. Very happy to have discovered them.

silkiecat · 04/12/2020 08:36

I love snow too and cheered me up after yesterday when we were told by EA surveyor had found penetrative damp on our house we are selling.

School said it was open as long as journey is safe. DD asked me if I thought her journey was safe. I pointed out it was a 5 minute walk.

Our house this morning.

The radio station that I listen to in the car does a 'five word weather' after the news. Today it was 'wear at least two coats'. Grin

I'm quite supercilious about the fuss that people make about the cold in Ireland because I lived in Berlin for a year. Just the one year, two decades ago, but I still bore my friends by using it as a reference point for a really cold winter. Grin

silkiecat · 04/12/2020 09:50

We went to Lapland one Christmas and it was -27C, which was cold even by their winters and everything else has seemed very mild since.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 04/12/2020 09:56

I knew someone on MN would be able to trump me with a colder temperature. Grin I think the lowest that I had in Berlin was -20C, but the wind chill there was horrific.

Squirrel26 · 04/12/2020 10:07

I love snow if I don’t need to go anywhere (other than on skis. I am OK with that.) I hate it if I have to get to work in it.

There’s no snow here, but it’s a bit grey.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/12/2020 10:17

Yep, about -21 in Berlin in 1981 is the record - it really is not so much the cold but the wind which get's the "feels like" temps really down.

It's supposed to stay in the +10° for the next few weeks.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/12/2020 10:19

Yakutsk in 2014 -48°

ssd · 04/12/2020 10:28

Snow here but wet and freezing ice too.

Day off.

Still in bed with electric blanket on,drinking tea.

Smile
Frownette · 04/12/2020 10:32

I just had a very dull telephone thing. I had to give myself scores out of 4 unless I needed extra training in areas but forgot at times and gave a ten

MrsWooster · 04/12/2020 11:17

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

Yakutsk in 2014 -48°

That is definitely at least two coats.
