I love the sound of your DS silkie . Mine has been known to take a calculator with him to occupy him when waiting for an appointment (dentist, shoe shop).

silkiecat · 03/12/2020 12:07

That sounds similar Taswama only DS has declared himself a human calculator so only needs to take himself to do calculations which is just as well as he loses everything. Grin

TrickyD · 03/12/2020 12:36

Just had a phone call from the agent to say our January family ski trip has been cancelled. No surprise there. Offered choice of refund or rebook. Going for the refund.

Spudlet · 03/12/2020 12:56

Sad times @TrickyD Sad Even if it’s not really a surprise. It’s still a bit pants.

@silkiecat @Taswama DS is very much a numbers boy too, although he’s not quite up to hexadecimal yet. He loves spotting them wherever we go though, every car trip is punctuated with him telling me the speed limit in great excitement (I’ll have no excuse if I ever get a ticket) and he loves walking around our local Forestry Commission woods as some of the trees have numbers spray painted onto their trunks. Happy days for him!

Champagneforeveryone · 03/12/2020 13:06

I have just bought a bag of logs as we had run out - DDog3 is toasty again.

DS has gone back to college and the house is peaceful at last. I should really be hugely busy, turns out I'm sat with DDog3 by the fire Grin

PiccalilliChilli · 03/12/2020 13:16

Taking my DD to the hairdressers later. Tomorrow I'm getting the Christmas decs out of the garage and getting my first flu jab. I'm debating if the flu jab is a wise idea.

silkiecat · 03/12/2020 13:18

DS would love numbered trees too. We once went to a garden where they had numbered all the plants and put labels on them, it was a long visit especially as they also had an apple festival and DS worships the apple as well.

Deathraystare · 03/12/2020 13:36

Well I eventually got the result of my biopsy. The Dr needs to work on her 'bedside manner'. Not that I was hospitalised but.. She said "Well, I have your results......Long pause. But I haven't seen the images"... I am thinking I don't give a toss about the images, just tell me the results!!!!! Apparently all ok. Phew!

In other news I have sadly packed away all my coats as I am due to move and so have only a thin parka to use.

Deathraystare · 03/12/2020 13:53

Confession time (if not too exciting for you all).

Mine name is Deathraystare and I am a Channel 5 Christmas Romance TV addict!!! I told my colleague I needed help! They are so soppy and cheesey but I sit there with a stupid smile on my face. Help me!

TrickyD · 03/12/2020 14:01

Thanks, Spudlet. At least we won't have to chase around trying to get Covid19 tests before we go. This is the fourth trip cancelled. Thank heaven we got in a cruise to the Arctic in February before all this started.

Mildmanneredmum · 03/12/2020 14:20

Hello everyone - I hope a newbie arriving won't be too exciting.

I opened the third door in my Nespresso advent calendar this morning and made a cup of coffee with the capsule.

baubling · 03/12/2020 14:20

I have just been sworn at on another thread. Nice.

In other news, I'm having my flu jab this afternoon, not really looking forward to queuing outside the surgery in the pouring rain to wait my turn. Oh well.

EggyPegg · 03/12/2020 16:08

Sad news about your ski trip @TrickyD. An Arctic cruise sounds fabulous. We managed to get a ski trip in in February this year, and are booked for Christmas next year so are keeping everything crossed that we will be able to go.

Sorry to hear that @baubling

Welcome @Mildmanneredmum. Your name is very calming.

The architect dropped round the plans for the loft, the numbers of some carpenters, and the building regs this afternoon. I am just making a cup of tea and then I will be phoning the carpenters.

Nydj · 03/12/2020 16:22

It’s been raining here today - not just drizzle but proper rain. DS is making dinner today which probably means that DH will do a lot of the prep for him 🙄.

Nydj · 03/12/2020 16:24

@MissConductUS, the brownies were such a hit with DS that he has requested another batch - before the first batch is even finished!

TenCornMaidens · 03/12/2020 16:51

@Deathraystare my dd would love those. Recommendations ?

Deathraystare · 03/12/2020 17:01

TenCornMaidens

Sorry? What recs? Do you mean the films? They are all much of a muchness - on Channel 5 in the afternoons - Freeview

silkiecat · 03/12/2020 17:15

Raining here. DS refuses to wear a coat and came back in pouring rain. I said DS are you wet and he looked at me puzzled and said I have no idea I've not seen myself in a mirror yet.

Did a bit of tidying today. Electrician cancelled but at end of day.

Had jackets with smoked salmon for lunch.

MissConductUS · 03/12/2020 17:17

Welcome all new contributors! @Mildmanneredmum - your handle is perfect for this thread. Smile

Props to all who are getting their flu jabs. It will likely be a mild flu season because of masking and social distancing, but better safe than sorry. Were you to get the flu and covid at the same time that would be very bad.

@Nydj I'm glad that the brownies have become a family tradition for you. If I don't have a zip lock bag of them in the fridge at all times DD gets a bit annoyed stabby about it. What is DS making for dinner? It will be pasta and meatballs chez Conduct, except for DD who will of course want something else.

@baubling Thanks for your news. I reported the abusive post you mentioned.

DS’s mahoosive noggin is now encased in an adult sized helmet 😱 Good grief. He’s not quite 5!

He also has a lovely old school metal bell which I’m hoping which will be more robust than the plastic crappy one. It’s very loud too - people will hear us coming alright 🙉

Nydj · 03/12/2020 17:42

Happy belling to spudlet!

We have been told that Thai veg curry with tofu and rice is on the menu @MissConductUS. It sounds fancier than it is as I keep home marinated tofu in the freezer and he will use microwave rice pouches instead of making rice in a pan. Oh and the Thai curry paste will be from a jar and I will have to go and assist in making the coconut milk from the powder. I hope is to build DS’s confidence so that he can cook more from scratch one day.

TenCornMaidens · 03/12/2020 17:46

@Deathraystare yes! Perfect. We nly watch on demand really, but I will look some up Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

EggyPegg · 03/12/2020 18:58

This is probably definitely too exciting for this thread. Tonight I am watching the live filming of The Graham Norton Show as DH got me tickets for the 'virtual audience' earlier this week. So I'm sat in my bedroom with my laptop and headphones. DH will do all bedtime stuffs as filming will run until 9pm.

Having meringue, cream and raspberries.

Electrician said he's probably not coming today now at 4.30pm at which time it was dark so I said that's fine, had worked that out myself.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/12/2020 19:18

Eggy Calm down! But have a great time!

Family kept filling the whatsapp chat with pictures of dough, biscuits and nice drinks while I was at work.
