I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

EggyCat1 also regularly drinks from water glasses. I have now replaced their drinking bowl with a plastic 1l jug from Wilko's, and both cats seem to prefer that.

I guarantee if we did this he’d carry on regardless. He has shocking table manners, possibly egged on by us laughing at his brazenness instead of telling him off properly when he was little. It was funny though.

EggyPegg · 23/11/2020 21:48

@WantChewbaccaForGood

I am wearing my fluffy socks with a cute fox on them.
I think I need to see a picture please.

DH and I have just moved the DCs Christmas presents from his boot to the loft. It amused me to walk past the DCs bedrooms with them as these are things that they desperately want and they have no idea that they are now above their heads. We are officially all done for Christmas Day buying in Eggy Towers. I started picking up some bits for the DCs advent calendars today as I realised with a jolt that we are close to the 1st. I bought these (one dino each), and now I want to know what happen after 8 days...

Hello, I have caught up and need to drag the conversation back to maple syrup. We get through a fair bit of maple syrup (ok, DS gets through it single handed) and we now ask family and friends with Costco membership to buy the Kirkland massive containers. It is pure maple syrup.
Can we get closure on the men in hi-vis? I think they were last seen wandering about with some steps.
OP, I am glad your DD and cat are ok and hope that the ‘Operation collect DS’ on Wednesday goes smoothly.
I ate a lot of junk this afternoon which is not good. Oh well.

EggyPegg · 23/11/2020 22:34

@WantChewbaccaForGood Oh they are cute. I'm a sucker for cute socks. I was given some bamboo ones for Christmas one year. They were a game changer and I am slowly swapping out all of my socks for bamboo ones.
Happily DS1 has inherited DHs boats. We now wear the same size, so I'm just putting all my old ones in his drawer as I go. He's had my Hogwarts houses ones (which he's pleased with), I think woodland creatures are next to go to him.

MissConductUS · 23/11/2020 22:51

@Nydj On my way through the garage, I've checked our maple syrup inventory. It's quarts we get from BJ's, which is our local warehouse club and a direct competitor to Costco. If I recall correctly, we pay $14 per quart. How big are the Costco containers?

I'm still getting used to people referring to me as "OP". Grin

Thank you for your good wishes. I think we are all hyper attuned to any sign of illness these days. The weather looks good for the trip, about 10 degrees and cloudy. The traffic may be a nightmare, which is why we're leaving so early. With luck we'll be there by 11:00.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I watch baumgartener videos too! I think I could probably make a fair job of a simple restoration by now, I’ve watched them all so many times!

Good luck with the DS retrieval @MissConductUS!

I did not run or eat soup or anything. Instead I read several chapters of a new bedtime book and ate lasagna. This was the correct choice.

soddingkitten · 24/11/2020 00:13

MissC - 500ml of Clarks pure maple syrup is £9.50 in Sainsburys currently. A quart is around 900ml.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/11/2020 03:11

Admittedly it is 3am but wantchewbaccaforgood's socks looked at first glance like she had rather fleshy feet and was wearing a pair of strappy sandals.

On close inspection I see I was wrong Grin

ExitChasedByAnImposter · 24/11/2020 04:33

DP can be quite funny when he talks in his sleep. His jokes when awake can be a hit and miss as are mine.

halfpasteleven · 24/11/2020 04:46

@Therainisback

I do have a bowl of small flat pebbles, collected on holiday & 2 box frames. I was planning on creating some personalised pebble pictures for my daughters. Have they gone out of fashion?
Definitely not!! Sounds like a lovely individual style of gift.

It's meant to be raining all night and all day tomorrow but I'm in bed at the moment and I can't hear it. I don't know what woke me..

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/11/2020 04:47

The cat at work has kindly dropped 2 mice at my feet. While I'm sat outside having a break.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/11/2020 05:51

I was woken at 3:25 by sb elses hungry baby.
I had to get up and close the window and put a bit of rain on to go back to sleep.

HelenaJustina · 24/11/2020 06:31

I got cross with DH at 3.10am as he was trying to push me out of bed. He then got irritable when I sat up and asked him to stop.
This morning he claims he thought I was a tray or punnet of something which he just couldn’t get a proper grip on.

Spudlet · 24/11/2020 08:07

Morning everyone. I can’t catch up with all the posts I missed! But I hope everyone is doing well. In a calm fashion, avoiding unnecessary excitement of course.

HMS Cardboard Box continues to sail the salty seas and the sea monster continues to make cameo appearances. I think I’m going to send all the Christmas presents back and just get hold of a load of old cardboard boxes Grin

SilkieRabbits · 24/11/2020 08:53

DH has gone down to old house to meet electrician who hopefully won't have any wifes having accidents needing ambulances today. Am a tad sceptical of that excuse as you are only allowed in hospital alone atm and how many accidents do wives have? Hmm DH took a day's annual leave yesterday which was a bit annoying as only one out of three people turned up. He'll just drop keys with him today as DH has to work.

In mega-floof rug news apparently rabbit loves mega-floof and is sitting on it a lot and both DD and DS are very happy about that.

Squirrel26 · 24/11/2020 09:08

The high vis men appear to have multiplied overnight and now there are about 6 of them. They’ve brought various tool boxes and another step ladder. I think one had a clipboard.

They were surrounding another set of doors down the corridor, but it’s now all gone quiet. Maybe it’s tea break time?

Squirrel26 · 24/11/2020 09:10

Visibility here at the moment is excellent, by the way. I’m not sure why we need the high vis.

Sheusedtobesomeonelse · 24/11/2020 10:04

If in doubt, High Vis is the way to go! Perhaps its seen liek a kind of uniform for people that dont know what to wear?! Or who need a clipboard? The possibilities are endless.

I am wearing tights and shorts today, i feel overdressed in these days of WFH but my fave cashmere jumper is keeping me cosy, love those fox socks!

My cat has rediscovered his cat cave, he only uses it when its too warm in the sun usualy on DD2 bed - i'll try and take a photo.

Sheusedtobesomeonelse · 24/11/2020 10:08

My cat loves Ikea too !

I'm meeting some friends for soup lunch later. We are going to park rear ends facing and sit in our car boots to eat. The church community centre in my Mum's parish does a senior soup lunch on Tuesdays but obviously at the moment they can't have people inside so they are doing take away soup instead.

I bet my Mum's generation are looking forward to being able to go back to it. If I ever went in there around lunchtime on a Tuesday there would be a chorus of my Mum's friends telling me I'm 'too young' for senior soup. Grin Which I enjoyed very much as I'm in my 50s and never get called 'young'.

OrangeIsTheNewTwat · 24/11/2020 11:04

@Taswama - do you have a recipe link for the chickpea bars please? I'm trying to lose some weight, I've really gained a lot over the last couple of years due to various things. I need more protein in my diet (& sleep!)

Taswama · 24/11/2020 11:08

Ooh thank you @Taswama they look pretty easy.

LilyLongJohn · 24/11/2020 11:22

My dull news is that as soon as this meeting is over, finishes at 12. I have no other meetings for the rest of the day and will have time to prep dinner whilst keeping half an hour on my email. I'm hoping for a quiet day skiving in front of the telly.
