@SelfMadeFantasist
Congratulations on your determination!

You will all be glad to hear that DH as removed his papers from the sofa.
He put the extension into the dining table and put them there instead + on the 'bad' clothes dryer + on the top of the small book shelf.

I’d quite like to live on an island off the coast of Maine. (I probably wouldn’t really. I expect it’s very cold in the winter?)

I bathed the dog because he got muddy on our walk. He’s just been lying on me and making me damp.

Need to work out a time to Zoom with a friend later.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/11/2020 15:58

I'm setting up my HotBin composter. It's a Christmas present from my Mum. DH was going to help me "in 20 mins" so I waited several hours and then thought I'd get it done before I lose the light. It's all set up outside I just need to start it off with some leaves and kitchen compost.

Oh my goodness yes. And snowy. And no transportation to the mainland in bad weather. It's idyllic in the summer but not for the faint of heart in the winter. We have pretty harsh winters in the Hudson Valley, but not as bad as Maine.

Have now managed to walk into town 2 days in a row. I was stuck in bed a lot of the summer due to chronic illness & my fitness level has gone off a cliff. May have purchased more chocolate for grating up to make hot chocolate... I don't want to risk running out! Grin

@Taswama - are those to replace the unsatisfactory chickpea bars? They look lovely.

Nydj · 21/11/2020 16:55

Back to Corning ware/ Corelle - I have just checked with my cousin in India and he has confirmed that it is still very popular there 😁.

sueelleker · 21/11/2020 16:57
@sueelleker indeed it is, a fantastic but under-read series! I’ve just started it from the beginning for the first time in years. Also a fan of Cadfael for more gentle but beautiful writing. And of Georgette Heyer and Terry Pratchett and Jodi Taylor and Robert Galbraith and and and... I really love books, reading and literature.
I'm with you on all of those except Robert Galbraith; haven't read any of his.

Nydj · 21/11/2020 17:00

@MissConductUS, thank you for the link - I did some online window shopping 🤣🤣🤣.

I was thinking about those papers earlier, wondering if they'd been moved yet.

The DC and I scooted (I walked) to the pet shop to get a cuttlefish bone for our Giant African Land Snail earlier. We came home via the park.

Then he'll say "I was just going to do that for you".
sueelleker · 21/11/2020 17:18

I really enjoyed the Falcon books, also Georgette Meyer and Mr Pratchett.
Have you ever tried any of Laurie Kings 'Mary Russell' books? They really are very good

I love the Mary Russell books; the short stories are also very good.

SilkieRabbits · 21/11/2020 17:20

DD told me she was going for another run as she said her run yesterday was half-arsed at 2 miles. I asked her if she was doing another half-arsed run to make a full-arsed run or a full-arsed run and she just laughed. I've been doing a no-arsed have a sleep on that basis. Grin

DH told me he's tidied the kitchen apart from cleaning it or the bins and he did the washing up. Hmm I presume that means he just did the washing up. He's having a nap.

DH is going to collect the click and collect I've bought later - a fleece bedsheet for DD who asked for light pink, a white fluffy rug for DS and his rabbit, some new ceiling lights for our bedroom and hoover bags. I also ordered a new schoolbag for DS but that won't be here until in the week.

I am doing a free trial of DiscoveryPLus and have watched Gordon Ramsay in Malaysia and Thailand and Househunters International where they buy a house in Norfolk Island, 1000 miles off Australian Coast and another in Bolivia. Turned heating up as its rather nippy here today.

Taswama · 21/11/2020 17:25

That's right @OrangeIsTheNewTwat . No-one knew they had chickpeas in, and DS1 ate 3 in one go on Sunday, then declared he didn't like them when I suggested he take one to school. DS2 also liked some on Sunday but isn't allowed nuts at school (primary) so they have languished unloved in the fridge all week.
DS1 is thirteen and his hunger levels have increased noticeably in the last 6 months, so I'm trying to have healthy snacks in the house.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/11/2020 17:33

eggy You've got snails!! How lovely! And they look beautiful.

DD's kindergarten teacher kept her Agate snails in their group room and DD loved them (and spiders) - still does.

Nydj · 21/11/2020 17:37

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I expect it must be very frustrating for you but as I live with a bit of a hoarder, the tales of the gentle travels of your DH’s papers are very soothing to me.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/11/2020 17:38

Sueelleker Grin Any moment now!

lachy · 21/11/2020 17:40

I tided up my pan drawer.

I'm having to sit down with a cup of tea to calm myself down.

Spudlet · 21/11/2020 17:42

I have baked another apple and cinnamon cake, and DH has washed the car. I had concerns about this as I think some of the muck may have been structural, but no important parts appear to have fallen off the car yet.

I am shattered today (maybe from yesterday’s blood donation?) so I’ve got my feet up and DH is lighting a fire. We are getting a takeaway Sunday roast from a local pub tomorrow so looking forward to that. We even have sticky toffee pudding coming with it 😋

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/11/2020 17:54

@Nydj
He now has spread out on to the kitchen bench
and mentioned that he expects the delivery of about 450 books he needs to temporarily keep somewhere.
Everything he can do online or on his PCs is fine - paper scares him.

Squirrel26 · 21/11/2020 18:07

Informed friend’s 10 year old that 200 years ago when his mother and I were at university, mobile phones could only store 10 text messages, and then you had to delete some. ‘What? Only 10 in one go?’ No, child, 10 TOTAL. Tough times. Grin

Boredsilly · 21/11/2020 18:23

Had a lovely day with DD as DH was off fishing. We went for a lovely walk at a near by lake popped to Asda to get some pizzas for dinner (them not me) then watched Goodnight Mr Tom, DD is learning about WW2 at school so really enjoyed it, very good film.

MissConductUS · 21/11/2020 18:53

When I was growing up a mobile phone was the one on the wall in the kitchen with the 30 foot coiled cord and the rotary dial. 😁

@sueelleker @forgetthehousework with two recommendations and such matching bookshelves I’ll add the Mary Russell to my Christmas wish list!

Nydj · 21/11/2020 19:17

I remember visiting my aunt in the US in my early twenties and being so impressed with the length of the phone cord which allowed her to cook and do her chores while chatting to people on the phone. At home, our phones had a cord that kept you within half a meter of the phone if you wanted to use it!

This is a disappointing development
