I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

DH would find that funny (He liked that clock in Roseanne - yes we are that old), DS would be disgusted.
I've never heard a dog (or a cat) having a hiccup, need to have a google - googled.

MissConductUS · 20/11/2020 23:31

@Nydj - We've just had DH's fabulous homemade pizza for dinner. Friday night must be pizza night worldwide.

It's only 1830 here and we've been out of brownies for a week, so I'm going to make a pan.

CoffeethenCrochet · 20/11/2020 23:41

I'm feeling slightly better today (was in hospital last week) so I made a start on catching up with the housework that I've put off all week.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/11/2020 23:43

Is 'pan' the word to use? Noted.

I'd say Blech (sheet) or Form (form), with pan I'd automatically think of Pfanne (frying pan).

soddingkitten · 20/11/2020 23:54

We talk about baking trays in the UK, so a tray of brownies or you also have ‘traybake’ style cakes (single layer served in the tray with icing/buttercream and sprinkles/decoration). In practice I think most Brits would talk about making a batch of brownies rather than a tray.

MissConductUS · 21/11/2020 00:01

I almost said "batch". We have frying pans and baking pans and cake pans. I line the brownie pan with aluminum foil so that I can just lift them of the pan when they've cooled off a bit. Here's a picture of the pan I use, complete with brownies. Smile

Sodding, you're up late. Trouble sleeping?

I'd usually say I'm going to make a tray of brownies. I'm in the UK. Your brownies look fab @MissConductUS

MissConductUS · 21/11/2020 00:11

Thanks, @CoffeethenCrochet, they are pretty good. Here's a picture of tonight's unbaked batch. They're made with 3 cups of melted chocolate chips.

If you (or others) want the recipe just PM me with your email address.

Leftover shepherd's pie for dinner tonight.

I am truly Living The Life.

halfpasteleven · 21/11/2020 00:45

@mathanxiety we also had left over shepherds pie for dinner this evening. It was good not having to cook.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/11/2020 06:40

miss
They look tasty!!!
But are definitely in a Form.

EggyPegg · 21/11/2020 07:56

I got up at 7.20 thinking that my uni tutorial (online) was at 10am, so wanted plenty of time to be awake and have done some housework. Checked my diary and it's actually at 2pm.
I will do some uni work instead, though annoyingly I have left my textbook at work. It's available on the module website so it's not a disaster, but I prefer my hard copy.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/11/2020 08:01

I decided to move some shelves around (again) to be able to put my foot up while working but keeping my back against a wall / shelves at the same time.

Temps dropped to below zero first time this year, sunrise ist at 7.37 - hibernation is underrated.

Eggy
I prefer hardcopy, too, my textbooks used to contain lots of annotations, notes, post its. It's not the same online.

HelenaJustina · 21/11/2020 08:47

Housework here today and Zoom dance lessons for DC. Need to summon the enthusiasm for a run around my usual 5k route. Decided making my Christmas cake was too exciting so postponed to next weekend!

SilkieRabbits · 21/11/2020 09:16

The cat just woke up and howled as DH was sleeping. Angry cat. He's awake now and tending to the cat.

Nydj · 21/11/2020 09:48

@Prokupatuscrakedatus, I believe it is usually baking tins in the UK although as @soddingkitten, said there are also trays for tray bakes.
I have @MissConductUS’s brownies recipe but I square baking tin and dh keeps baking other things that need eating up first. Dh hadn’t baked for years so I don’t want to discourage him but how annoying of him to do it now when I have a lovely brownies recipe to mess up by cooking it in a square Pyrex bowl/pan/thingy as it’s the only thing that may be the right size!

Nydj · 21/11/2020 09:49

I slept in this morning which was very lovely and extremely rare these days.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/11/2020 10:27

Nydj
Tins - yes, now I remember. And traybakes - I've got a list of those from the traybake thread.

Furniture moving is done - there is even room for a second desk now.

sueelleker · 21/11/2020 10:35

@HelenaJustina. Is your username from the Falco books?

TenCornMaidens · 21/11/2020 11:06

@Nydj thank you for the chai tip, most useful.

I have had a slow morning here. Cryptic jumbo bit too tricky so we have left it for now.

Have managed an hour or so of study but should get dressed at some point I suppose. Need to record a reading for the virtual carol service today.

Dd is squealing with nostalgic delight over Club Penguin.

HelenaJustina · 21/11/2020 11:22

@sueelleker indeed it is, a fantastic but under-read series! I’ve just started it from the beginning for the first time in years. Also a fan of Cadfael for more gentle but beautiful writing. And of Georgette Heyer and Terry Pratchett and Jodi Taylor and Robert Galbraith and and and... I really love books, reading and literature.

MissConductUS · 21/11/2020 11:42

Good morning all, it's Caturday! Smile

I've had some good news. My mum, who has continued to be asymptomatic, came out of isolation yesterday and her carer is coming back today. She'll still need to get vaccinated when the jabs are available.

Nydj - The answer is simple, you need another pan. This one on amazon.co.uk would be perfect:

Simply Calphalon Nonstick Bakeware, Square Cake Pan, 8-inch

There are loads of less expensive ones and the non-stick part is less important if you line the pan with foil the way I do. This one looks perfectly good too:

MasterClass Square Baking Tin/Small Roasting Pan with PFOA Free Non Stick, Heavy Duty Carbon Steel, 23 x 23 cm

DS is nerding playing Dungeons and Dragons online with friends and DH is mooching about the house congratulating himself for putting a wash load on.

I'm still in bed but need to get up and steel myself to nip to Waitrose to buy stuff so DS can bake a popcorn cake later. I feel personally offended by the need to queue to get in, and no amount of queue abiding
Britishness will make me change my opinion.

I've just had a nice cup of tea and have salmon en croute for lunch

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/11/2020 11:59

Champagneforeveryone
How does he do this? I used to belong to a player group as a student, and my DN etc. are players, so it would be fun to restart.

DH is making mince joghurt.

Nydj · 21/11/2020 12:01

@MissConductUS yes, but that would be the rational and sensible thing to do. If you know any Indians, ask them about the significance of Corning ware - it is central in all our kitchens. I must try it first in a Corning ware thingy (made by Pyrex) then admit defeat before buying the proper baking tin. It’s in my DNA
