Canaries holiday - can't get tests

MozzchopsThirty · 17/11/2020 20:49

What would you do??

We're booked to go to canaries on 28th dec
We need to prove a negative covid test done 72 hours before travel

Which would be Xmas day
Boxing Day is Saturday
Nowhere is offering private tests over Xmas period
Postal tests not an option due to the Xmas post, time etc

Does anyone have any ideas on how we can do this??
TIA

Exactly!!

@MozzchopsThirty I’m in Tenerife just now and it’s glorious...and for anyone judging even my GO encourages me to come as I suffer terribly with depression and also SAD at this time of year

sons. We should’ve been there on Tuesday night.
All that packing and unpacking with no holiday in between.
The stress we went through was through the roof
I spent most of Tuesday sleep.

I wouldn’t care we hand delivered to the lab, followed the instructions to the letter.
As far as I can see ..the test stopped a healthy woman going on much needed sunshine break.

Tui will let us rebook and we can move our apartment date forward..everyone has helped ..except the people who caused the problem ..assured screening

Also my favourite, I also need some sunshine and can get very depressed in the winter months.
Last years trip to fuerteventura was so good we immediately booked for this year

Just lovely to be riding bikes in shorts, stopping for tapas or a beer Smile

Canaries off the travel corridor. So sorry, op.

Similar happened to me in Nov. Canaries went on the travel corridor then lockdown # 2 happened. The same holiday that was rescheduled due to lockdown #1.

Third time lucky May 2021? Or not Sad

We were due to fly Sunday
Gutted
My dsd has spent 12 months in hospital, then lockdown, then been amazingly brave going back to school.. She was really working hard on going on a family holiday... We have had awful two years, no time away anywhere as a family, my dp and me not had time away together as one of us always with her...
And now we can't go, because her older siblings need to go to work and I am front line staff.. So I can't quarentine.
Tears all round here.
I also have yet another holiday to unpick, cancel, sit on phone for hours...

Sorry to all the other posters due to travel soon Sad this decision seems to be totally unreasonable when you look at the chart

Lots of calls for Canary Islands to be split like Greek islands were

What an utter cunt of a year

I’ve been moving the same flights for months, it’s almost like a new hobby. To be fair I’ve stopped thinking about the actual time away and now see the booking as a game. Rebooked yesterday for jan (highly unlikely). If we get the jan dates I’m likely to have been vaccinated by the time we fly if all goes well.

Sorry for your situation op.

Really sorry for the folk who won’t be able to go now😢
My flight lands at 23:30
Tomorrow night so fortunately I won’t need to quarantine

So very sorry jelly red bean
You really need it
I think that’s why I’ve coped well with the disappointment, it would’ve been lovely but not desperate as we were there in November
The testing firm are refunding our money and tui will let us rebook flights and as we aren’t going we don’t have to quarantine for Christmas
Although as this government are ruling by knee jerk reaction there’s no guarantees I’d have complied anyway

So, test money is now in our bank.
Time to get writing to see exactly what happened to my test so I shall be pursuing this further.
Also antigen v pcr

Do you know, it’s still unclear.
Some airlines are accepting the antigen others aren’t.
But the word from Spain is that the pcr is the one that is lawfully accepted

I was going to see about rebooking with the antigen but now I’m in a quandary about it

I think this is from Janet anscombe

Haha
I don’t know why I’ve written we were there in November
When we got back just before halloween

Doh!
Brain fail!

Well it was nearly November!
