@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants - ha, snap! Somewhere else in the world there were 2 other 10 year old girls doing the same! I would run up the street in the evening to my friends house with the record under my arm, cue hairbrushes
Sadly I lost touch with that friend. Are you still friends with your friend? The first time I remember hearing it, we were at on a navy ship at the dockyard. I remember what we were both wearing and running around looking through all the binocular things singing 'the tide is high' (& I don't have that many clear childhood memories). Good times

ListeningQuietly · 14/11/2020 21:30

Spuriously17windows · 14/11/2020 21:44

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants
I hadn’t seen that friend since 1988, we went to separate parts of the world after school and with no social media etc lost touch and our paths just never crossed again, until coincidentally last Christmas we both turned up to a funeral in our home town. We’ve become great friends again, it was like no time had passed the first time we met again.

vampirethriller · 14/11/2020 21:47

Back On The Chain Gang, Chrissie Hynde
Gloria, Laura Brannigan

WildRosie · 14/11/2020 21:52

I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor was from 1979. Sorry! Maybe it was re-released in the '80sWink.

Both Gloria Branigan's two UK top ten hits are excellent. Typically 1980s.
