As I’m currently furloughed I’ve been watching re runs of come dine with me... Always makes me think what I would cook if I was ever on it, what would you cook?
Mine would be
Starter - salt and chilli prawns with Some sort of salad
Main - belly of pork, chorizo and bean casserole with garlic ciabatta
Desert - red velvet cheesecake

I love Dinner Date too.
For starters bruscetta with mozzarella and buffaloac tomatoes
Main fillet steak and hassleback potatoes
Dessert something light? Sorbet

But I'd have to buy that so to make something then Bakewell tart

MaelyssQ · 14/11/2020 13:02

Ooh good idea for a thread!
Baked goat's cheese with rocket and pear salad, followed by chicken breast stuffed with garlic and cream cheese wrapped in bacon served with green beans and potato wedges, with strawberry cheesecake (homemade) for pudding.

thismeansnothing · 14/11/2020 13:10

Starter - my mum's epic 1/2 and 1/2 soup. Heinz Cream of chicken with Heinz tomato. It's awesome creamy tomato soup with chickeny bits.

Main - fried fish finger butties on white bread with butter and chips.

Pudding - tinned fruit cocktail and squirty cream

All washed down with your choice of fizzy drinks. Red coke, cream soda, irn bru, lilt. I'll make.sure I have the good stuff in

Grin I love a good fish finger sandwich

Puddlepop · 14/11/2020 16:00

May I join the party? I’d do a pineapple-cocktail sausage-ham hedgehog to start, some grilled salmon with asparagus and maybe a cheesy potato gratin for mains and a massive baked Alaska torched at the table by a tanned and oiled topless hunk in bow tie.

TinyBarista · 14/11/2020 17:18

Right, that's it, I'm now leaving for the dinner party with @puddlepop

BloatyMcGoatFace · 14/11/2020 17:23

Starter: some sort of baked camembert with garlic and rosemary, and pieces of crusty baguette, crudites and breadsticks to dip in it.

Main: cheese, leek and potato pie with bacon bits

Dessert: either sticky toffee pudding or baked white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry coulis.

I plan to stuff them so full that they have no energy to score me anything but a 10 Grin

bellinique · 14/11/2020 17:30

@BloatyMcGoatFace wow, cheese for every course! Now that's my kind of dinner party!

iklboogeymum · 14/11/2020 17:31

Scallops & chorizo starter

Venison medallions, creamy mashed potato, mixed greens and a red wine reduction

Toffee apple crumble & custard juice

Cheese & charcuterie board if anyone fancies it.

Wishimaywishimight · 14/11/2020 17:33

My starter and dessert would be almost identical to yours OP!

Starter: Salt and chilli prawns with a rocket and walnut salad..
Main: Crab and lobster ravioli in a lobster bisque.
Dessert: Red velvet cheesecake (baked)

BloatyMcGoatFace · 14/11/2020 17:33

See you at mine after lockdown then! You can supply the wine...- Grin

ThorFull · 14/11/2020 17:39

Red velvet cheesecake?! Ive never heard of this but desperately need it in my life.

I’ve thought about my come dine with me menu for years now. Still can’t decide. I just know it would involve chorizo, but not steak.

Lonelykettleshed · 14/11/2020 17:44

Excellent idea for a thread...
I've gone autumn/wintery with hearty comfort food.
Starter - not really a starter fan but I'd go for scallops or maybe some sort of goats cheese tart.
Main - chicken or pork in cider with mash and veg
Pudding - pain au chocolat bread and pudding

Wishimaywishimight · 14/11/2020 17:45

@ThorFull I have actually only had it once, in The Cheesecake Factory and it was fabulous! Have a couple of recipes but haven't gotten around to making my own. I just love red velvet cake/cupcakes/doughnuts etc and love baked cheesecake too so it's my perfect dessert!

movingonup20 · 14/11/2020 17:53

Goats cheese tartlets with caramelised onion relish and mixed leaves
Pan fried lamb with red current jus served with mash and tender stem broccoli
Lemon and raspberry baked cheese cake

movingonup20 · 14/11/2020 17:56

Ps have rolled this out before!

Impatientwino · 14/11/2020 18:14

I always daydream about this but would never be brave enough to open myself up to public criticism! I'd worry about totally cocking up and embarrassing myself! Or getting too nervous and quaffing too much wine whilst cooking!

Ok, so obviously everything would go swimmingly and I would sip slowly in this fantasy...

Champagne, Mythos Greek beer or fancy non alcoholic spritzer on arrival

Starter - taster plate of spinach and feta parcel, houmous, Greek sausage and dolmades - all homemade so people don't complain! Token salad garnish!

Main - slow cooked Greek style lamb with tzatiki, little roast potatoes with garlic and oregano, chargrilled peppers, flatbreads, sliced red onion/cucumber - served sharing style so people can choose which bits they want and how they want to eat it. If any veggies/vegans I'd do them Greek stuffed aubergine with pine nuts and if veggie some halloumi (ok lots of halloumi for everyone)

Dessert- vanilla pannacotta with fresh passionfruit - served with a passionfruit martini if they like.

Just cooked sausages and chips for the kids and defrosted a curry for us in actual real life Grin

Impatientwino · 14/11/2020 18:25

Oh Greek sausage not homemade - I'd just cook it Smile

Ltdannygreen · 14/11/2020 22:31

@Wishimaywishimight
Great minds 😁

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 14/11/2020 23:40

@Impatientwino I read that the producers now limit how much booze contestants can drink as (like you can see in the earlier series) they were all sozzled by the end of the night! Then hungover while cooking Grin

SarahAndQuack · 15/11/2020 01:02

Ooh, good thread. I think I fancy:

  1. sticky garlic prawns
  2. chicken tagine with lemon and green olive, and apricot and pomegranate cous cous.
  3. figs grilled with mascarpone and honey and orange.

I'm rubbish at deserts!

AtlasPine · 15/11/2020 01:09

Layered veg terrine with whisked tomato dressing
Puy lentil casserole topped with loin of cod and spinach
Fresh fruit plates with a dark chocolate dip.

GingerScallop · 15/11/2020 01:12

Not a fan of RVC but would eat it. Your starter and main are my kind of food. I would give you 8/10

CoolYourBeansMySon · 15/11/2020 01:26

Great idea for a thread OP!

But I'm a not a great cook so it would be a fun night with games to win them over.

We'd have kir royale on arrival. The starter would be pan fried scallops and chorizo served over wilted rocket and spinach.
Main - an old Delia recipe for pork chops baked in the oven with cream served with saute potatoes and tenderstem broccoli. It should have mushrooms with it but they're gross so I leave them out.
Pud - banoffee pie.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 15/11/2020 07:52

Starter: roasted tomato and red pepper soup

Main: a mezze platter

Desert: raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake
