Anyone sent a Peloton bike back?

DH likes the idea of one when the weather is rubbish rather than going out on his road bike.

Since WFH full time due to covid my exercise is almost 0 and my motivation is about the same but my comfort eating is 100% so I need to get a handle on my health.

If I said I would use one DH would jump at getting it but I just can't decide whether all the reviews about it being addictive would apply to me. I have read the threads about the cheaper alternatives but if we were going to do something like this it would be a Peloton. But I just am not sure. Would it be a clothes hanger only being used by DH occasionally?

Recent threads on here seem to be of people raving about them but just wondering whether anyone has sent one back or sold theirs because they just couldn't be bothered with it?

What happens if you cancel your subscription? Do you just have an insanely expensive exercise bike, or is it still usable with other apps? (I know you won’t be able to compete with other Peloton users.)

Duvetdweller · 15/11/2020 14:18

I think your first assumption is correct @SomethingNastyInTheBallPool

I bought a peloton during lockdown and absolutely love it. It's transformed my attitude to health and fitness which I no longer measure in weight but by stats achieved on the bike, plus there are lots of Facebook groups where you can get riding buddies for motivation. Best thing I ever bought.

Carriemac · 16/11/2020 09:17

Did you go for the 'plus'?'

BiteyShark · 16/11/2020 11:53

Yes decided to go for the latest bike+ as I wanted the better sound and integration with Apple watches etc.

We got our peloton a month ago.

I was already really in to spin, so I knew I’d live it. My wife had never done a spin class before.

We both use it EVERY DAY. Both of us. It’s a fantastic piece of kit. The classes are great. The whole peloton service is great. The app, and the non-bike classes? Also great.

Couldn’t imagine why someone would send one back! If you can afford it, it’s really the beat piece of fitness equipment you could buy. I can burn 500 -600 cals in a 45 minute class. And the best thing? I can do it whenever I want. There’s always a great class to do.

If you like spin, and if you have the money, buy a peloton.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 21/11/2020 15:43

I’ve never tried spin classes but I quite fancy giving them a go. DP, on the other hand, is more likely to fly to the moon. If we got a Peloton would he be able to use it as he wants - basically, pedalling away while listening to The Archers? He’s not at all bothered about watching anything on the screen.

Pipandmum · 21/11/2020 15:49

Have you done spin classes? I did them for about three months but found it so uncomfortable that I stopped. I wore cycle shorts and put a gel pack on the seat. Hated every minute.
If you enjoy spin classes you may well like pelaton.

I can’t believe the waiting time. I’m gutted as really wanted the + but might go with the bike instead rather than wait that long! Did they tell you 5 months after you paid?

If anyone has a referral code I would appreciate it.

I was warned it was around 5 months before I purchased it but just got my delivery date and it's 'only' 4 months.

Keep checking Online because they do sometimes release other dates so you might get it a bit quicker! @ChannellingG I’ll PM you

I'd never done spinning but bought the bike, I've only been doing 20 mins or so most days. After about a week the discomfort went
SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 23/11/2020 21:44

And are you hooked, @ineedsun?
