I expect many will be pleased about this. Did he have any official status in government to begin with ?

viques I absolutely LOVE that Diary Of A Nobody reference! Smile

Janegrey333 · 13/11/2020 18:15

@Pedallleur

He will not be unemployed long if at all.
Fine. As long as we don’t have to see his odious personage swanning around Downing Street.
Roussette · 13/11/2020 18:15

Friday 13th is a good day for this reason and others.

MayYouLiveInInterestingTimes · 13/11/2020 18:16

Over the moon here! Suddenly 2020 is brightening up. I doubt he'll be really gone though: it's all theatre now.

Perhaps he'll be back like Peter Mandelson, or in the Lords. I have for some reason often thought of Mandelson next to Cummings, although Tories have their own strong record with political advisors, and Mandelson had at least the grace to be an elected MP.

frosted232 · 13/11/2020 18:20

He'll walk straight into another job. Love him or hate him he did what he was supposed to do and got the Brexit vote won. I'm surprised he stuck around for as long as he did after Brexit and the general election. I also don't think this is the last we'll see of him, he won't go quietly.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/11/2020 18:24

It was a very well stage managed exit photo wasn’t it? He didn’t have to be photographed leaving like that did he?.

PhilCornwall1 · 13/11/2020 18:24

Perhaps he'll be back like Peter Mandelson

Just hopefully not on TV doing train programmes. Hmm

Ooops, wrong MP!!!! It's been a long day!!! I was thinking of someone else!!
Notstayingup · 13/11/2020 18:26

@Onesmallstepforaman

Gone for an eye test?
I love this - hope the door didn’t hit him in the ass too hard on the way out
SuperbGorgonzola · 13/11/2020 18:32

I'd like to know what's gone on because honestly it's making me even more nervous about Brexit. I'm a staunch remainer but clearly I want it to go as well as it can, and I hope this isn't the rats leaving the sinking ship.

MoonJelly · 13/11/2020 18:37

Extraordinary really. Johnson lost so much political capital in defending Cummings after his Barnard Castle trip, arguably it contributed to the rise in coronavirus figures because it signalled to the country that the rules could be ignored. And all that bought him was another seven months of Cummings' highly dubious services, including the wastage of billions of pounds on contracts going to Cummings' mates. I wonder if he really thinks it was worth it?

MoonJelly · 13/11/2020 18:39

He probably doesn't need a job. He's already made an absolute fortune out of ruthlessly exploiting his Downing Street position.
friendlycat · 13/11/2020 18:49

He flounced because of all the shenanigans this week regarding Chief of Staff appointments and Carrie and her allies bent Bozo’s ear putting their foot down over the proposed ludicrous appointment of the ex Mirror journalist to the role. Cummings didn’t get his way and resigned.

He won’t be missed and should have gone over the lockdown debacle. He weakened Bozo and it will be interesting to see whether our PM is even more rudderless without him.

Onceuponatimethen · 13/11/2020 18:53

Good he’s gone

But depressing it wasn’t the barnard castle sight test he went over

MarshaBradyo · 13/11/2020 18:54

Wow

No he will have a lot of takers for whatever next

I hope Johnson doesn’t become less coherent without him

7Days · 13/11/2020 18:57

Who is Carrie? She is just the girlfriend isnt she, does she have an official role?
It's like the Tudor Court not proper politics

Roussette · 13/11/2020 19:06

I hope Johnson doesn’t become less coherent without him

Is that possible, bearing in mind every statement with him at the fore is full of bluster, soundbites and banging the table...

MarshaBradyo · 13/11/2020 19:09

I know. It’s a concern given the situation ;

But I do think Cummings fed some understandable comms his way

MarshaBradyo · 13/11/2020 19:10

Hopefully all the people talking about decency and integrity will prop him up instead

Frazzled2207 · 13/11/2020 19:13

Delighted here.
But what will Boris do next given that his most trusted advisors have gone. Interesting times.

Daisymaze · 13/11/2020 19:15

Ah no that's a shame. As has been said, it's likely because things are about to get worse.

Daisymaze · 13/11/2020 19:16

Although I wonder if he was the leak and they agreed to make it seem like he was ousted by Carrie Halloween Shock

AethelsWhiteGoose · 13/11/2020 19:24

Well good riddance, but too late for the disaster that is brexit waiting for us in Jan, the millions spent on chucking contracts to his mates when they should have gone to people who understand the health crisis and the undermining of the most important health message in decades (Barnard Castle) Angry

laudemio · 13/11/2020 19:30

I hope the stage managed exit was Carrie's doing. To signal to the world that the guard has changed, it is a powerful visual image- something as a common person she would consider, but cummings in his ego would not. He isn't very good at comms, unless it is a three word slogan or lies.

laudemio · 13/11/2020 19:32

A comms person, not a common person.
