He had been hospitalised for COVID, and according to some sources had been refusing treatment

OP posts:
AuntieStella · 13/11/2020 07:46

It's on the BBC now

It must be very hard for the HCPs who are required to treat notorious prisoners, and I am glad for their professionalism

SendHelp30 · 13/11/2020 07:47

He shouldn’t be given space in a hospital when there is a lack of beds. Let him die in his cell.

RancidOldHag · 13/11/2020 07:49

I don't support the idea that we deny prisoners the medical treatment they need.

But I can't be sorry that he's dead

SendHelp30 · 13/11/2020 07:52

He is evil. I can’t find it in myself to justify how he deserves access our limited resources.

BringMeTea · 13/11/2020 07:53

Finally Covid gets something right. He was refusing treatment apparently as OP says.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/11/2020 07:55

A lot of people will sigh a big sigh of relief today. He was a dreadful person and I remember before he was caught how terrified women were.

iVampire · 13/11/2020 08:00

My DSis was a student in Leeds back then. It was a scary time to put it mildly - women students could not be carefree and spontaneous

I’m slightly surprised he lasted long enough to die of illness - wasn’t he highest on the hit list for attack on prison (and survived at least on serious assault)?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/11/2020 08:03

I assume he had security. Wasn’t he attached a few times?

Cocothefirst · 13/11/2020 08:04

I'm glad he's dead

IhateBoswell · 13/11/2020 08:09

Good riddance 🥳

Fishfingersandwichplease · 13/11/2020 08:10

Good - oxygen thief. Hope he rots in hell.

Othering · 13/11/2020 08:11

Seems fitting somehow that he died of covid.

FamilyOfAliens · 13/11/2020 08:13

I was six weeks into my first year at Leeds University when he murdered his final victim, the student Jacqueline Hill.

As the variously attributed quote goes:

“I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.”

Violetroselily · 13/11/2020 08:13

Good riddance

RuleOfCat · 13/11/2020 08:17

This just about sums it up.
Gretchizilla · 13/11/2020 08:19

Fantastic news. Some of the stories my mum and aunties told me growing up when the Yorkshire Ripper was active were scary times.

Ohdoleavemealone · 13/11/2020 08:20

Silver lining in the COVID cloud!

AuntieStella · 13/11/2020 08:58

Very good interview with the son of his first victim on BBC Breakfast

Sad

Wasn't it. Made me quite emotional actually. He came across as such a balanced, well rounded kinda guy.
iVampire · 13/11/2020 11:08
