Do you wrap your toddler's Christmas and birthday presents ?🤔

Just that really. Do/did you wrap your toddler dc's Christmas and birthday presents (say when they were 2 or 3 year olds)? I guess wrapping Xmas presents and keeping them under the tree would look nice but I am wondering if it is worth all the money and effort we put into wrapping presents for them as they don't really care !

Of course at that age the paper is the best bit.

DinosApple · 11/11/2020 18:11

Yes, the unwrapping is the best bit at that any age.

@AldiAisleofCrap Good point!

Of course!
The dog doesn't care either and yet I wrap hers. 🎁

5lilducks · 11/11/2020 18:16

@DinosApple True! Was feeling quite daunted by the whole prospect of gift wrapping Blush

Yes of course. Mine have all loved unwrapping presents at that age.

halcyondays · 11/11/2020 18:18

Of course!

FelicityPike · 11/11/2020 18:18

Birthday only. Santa doesn’t wrap presents in our village.

Onekidnoclue · 11/11/2020 18:19

Yes! I don’t wrap especially nicely though!

AbsoolutelyKnott · 11/11/2020 18:20

Yes, make sure you buy the cheapest and longest one you can find. The stuff is like tissue paper and they can easily open it themselves which makes it more fun Grin

june2007 · 11/11/2020 18:21

Yes but i do reuse paper.

maxineputyourredshoeson · 11/11/2020 18:22

Yes apart from stuff that needs to be put together in advance - bikes, kitchens etc

5lilducks · 11/11/2020 18:22

@FelicityPike ahhh! That was going to be my next question!(re. Santa's presents). Thanks for that. Santa doesn't wrap presents in our area either Grin

@5lilducks

Lol, I loathe wrapping too, and put it off as long as possible.
The trick I find is to shut myself in a room with the whole lot and a big box of chocolates! I stick a boring film on and sit there until it's done. Often I'm up past midnight as my DC don't go to bed as early as they should!

5lilducks · 11/11/2020 18:25

@AbsoolutelyKnott I will do, thanks for the tip 👍

@DinosApple looks like I will have to do them when she is at pre-school . She is a very clingy toddler so no way would I be able to lock myself in a room when she is here. We co-sleep and she knows when I am way past my bed time Hmm

Thanks all for your replies. Looks like the general consensus is to wrap !

My dd is 2 this year (27th December) so I did wrap last year, and then I unwrapped and she wasn't bothered about the paper at all (she's developmentally delayed) unsure if it'll be the same this year, but I will still wrap them as I know for most toddlers the unwrapping is the best part.

peboh · 11/11/2020 18:37

To add though, I love wrapping so that probably makes me more inclined to do so. I take an evening out once a week or so, grab a glass a wine, some snacks, pop a Christmas film on and just wrap a few presents.

dottiedaisee · 11/11/2020 18:38

Yes but do not pay too much attention to detail!

Preparedtobetoldimwrong · 11/11/2020 18:39

Of course! How else would the presents be a surprise for my husband?!
(Only slightly joking, but my DH enjoys Santa coming almost as much as our son)

HappyPumpkin81 · 11/11/2020 18:42

I wrapped my daughter's birthday presents in clean towels, when she unwrapped them I just folded up the towels and put them back in the cupboard. I'm a skin flint!

stayathomer · 11/11/2020 19:00

Yes, dh never got his wrapped as a child and actually most of my friends didnt either and I'm so relieved we did! As for birthdays now even for the kids friend's birthdays I always do wrapped presents instead of gift vouchers and the majority of times we've found out they were nearly the only presents they got and they were thrilled!

5lilducks · 12/11/2020 00:36

Thanks all for replying 👍I agree it's always nice to receive presents wrapped. I will be wrapping DC's presents without a doubt.

I did. It was great fun seeing him rip them open in excitement.
