So a bit of background. I'm 37 weeks pregnant. Huge and uncomfortable. Trying to renovate/move house in the next 3 weeks before baby arrives. In between cars so have rented a little run around for a week.
Rushing today to meet the plumber at said new house as OH was running late at work, very carefully maneuvered the new driveway..... and royally hit the gate post Confused in the rental car, which doesn't have full insurance (I'm not in the UK it's not standard here before anyone calls me stupid) then I panicked and couldn't figure out how to reverse or go forward without bashing it more... so I did the only logical thing and got out, left the car half out the driveway and snottily cried to the plumber until he took pity and moved the car for me Blush it's dented both doors badly and full of scratches.

Please please someone tell me your stupid moments especially while pregnant so I can feel better!

Currently trying to muster the courage to call the rental company and tell them, also trying to swallow the fact that I've just run up a rather large excess bill into the thousands Sad

We were in the process of moving house when I was heavily pregnant with DS2. I had a meeting with the mortgage advisor and put a plastic wallet full of documents including passports, bank statements and various other documents on the roof of the car while I put DS1 into his seat. I only realised when I got to the meeting that I'd left the wallet on the roof. We had to cancel passports and credit cards and start over with the mortgage application. Not my finest moment.

Thank you @BeBraveAndBeKind I just read that out to OH and he actually laughed. A vast improvement since the deep sighs of last night at my stupidity Grin

I'm glad it's helped lighten the mood @Scotabroad24. I was in a right state at the time but can laugh about it now.

The funny thing is that about five years later, the estate agent that sold us the new house came to the house with the wallet with all the documents still intact (it was a zipped plastic one luckily). It turns out it had flown off the roof of the car and into some undergrowth. When the site was cleared, the chap found the wallet including the details of the house we were buying and dropped it off to the estate agent. Lovely of him to take the time to drop it back but obviously way to late to be any use. Smile

I went for a walk with old friends in a London park whilst heavily pregnant was emphasising a point sort of swung my arm and threw my entire handbag into a lake.

DMCWelshcakes · 11/11/2020 09:33

Hit a car in a carpark whilst very pregnant. Then sobbed my apologies at the owner. Blush

I didn't have the excuse of being pregnant but 2 weeks before UK lockdown I was rushing around trying to get shit done as DH on his way back from Italy and he would have to isolate for 2 weeks so at the time I thought we all would as our house is too small really for imprisoning someone in a bedroom etc (also he was being arsey about it) Got out of the car and felt movement - thought it was my new varifocals - nope left car in drive, and didn't put the footbrake on - it rolled down three steps and into the house.....

RB68 · 11/11/2020 09:46

I had actually got out of the car and shut the door at this point

Scotabroad24 · 11/11/2020 09:53

Oh ladies you're all a blessing! I'm finally starting to see this as one of those stories that we will look back on one day and laugh Grin just have to hand over my credit card on Friday and hold my breath!!

I once drove my (leased) car into my own gatepost. I can't even blame baby brain as DC was at least 2 when this happened Grin

amusedbush · 11/11/2020 10:05

I get quite stressed about parking and I hate having to squeeze into a bay between two cars so I tend to avoid driving anywhere at peak times. However, DH convinced me to drive somewhere in the middle of a Sunday and when we arrived, it was packed. I drove round and round the car park looking for a space and finally spotted one, though it looked a bit tight. I decided I was just being overly cautious as I'd upgraded to a bigger car two weeks previously.

I started turning into the space and it was very tight. I don't know what possessed me but I just pressed on with the turn and CRACK, I hit a bollard, cracking my bumper and popping the wing out of place.

That was over a year ago and I still go out of my way to park wayyyy at the back of a car park so I'm nowhere near anything else Blush

Quirrelsotherface · 11/11/2020 10:06

Was in total brain fog after the birth of baby DS and looking after my toddler. Drove to meet a friend, one tiny car parking space, thought I'll never get in there but what did I do? Yep got wedged right in against the car next to me, then totally panicked and just froze. Owner was in the car, also had a friend there who guided me out of the space. Her car was barely marked, tiny scratch but I was over a Barrel as she was there and had a friend as witness and she managed to get a few hundred quid out of me. Would never have attempted to get in that space without those crazy hormones!

Not when I was pregnant, but when my daughter was a baby, I put her in the baby seat of the car and shut the door. I then heard a click. I had forgotten that she was holding the car keys and she had pressed the lock button. I had to call for help to get the car service to come and open the door for me. Luckily, it was a fairly cool day, so my DD was fine, but I was just so upset by the whole thing.

Atalune · 11/11/2020 10:11

I was returning from some Christmas shopping and was parked facing out. Very sleep deprived, put baby carefully in the car and strapped him in. Pushed the pushchair round to the back of the car, opened the boot.

Got in the car, reversed it into a wall crushed the pushchair to buggery and jammed the open boot against the wall. Sat in my car and cried and cried then my lovely FIL came and moved the car and took me home to my MIL who cooked us all dinner.

Car was fucked. Shock

I locked myself out of the house when I was about 30weeks pregnant with my first. It was december, raining and cold. I burst into tears, luckily a kind neighbour saw me and took pity on me. I was so worked up I hadn't even thought about calling dh to ask him to come and unlock the door. He only worked 5 mins away. All rational thought had left me and instead I just stood in the rain and cried haha.

SonjaMorgan · 11/11/2020 10:14

Whilst 36 weeks pregnant I woke up feeling "off" and could not settle. I decided that all the babies clothes and the contents of my hospital bag needed re-washing as it smelt funny. Pretty much as soon as the washing machine door locked I had a show followed by bleed and was rushed into hospital. I had to get a friend to go to my flat and pick up all the wet clothing, dry it at her house (no tumble dryer) and then bring it all into me. I had DC 2 days later and after all of that they were too small for the newborn clothes and I had to get family to pick up tiny baby clothes from Mothercare.

Nosnogginginthekitchen · 11/11/2020 10:17

I've only pranged my car three times. Once when pregnant with DS. Once when pregnant with DD. One just after DH had an affair and I ended the marriage. That was special, though, I backed my fiesta into my friends Landy. Definitely came off the worse from that one....

Dontbelikeme · 11/11/2020 10:17

Menopause rather than pg but I once drove into my space in work car park, exactly as I did and do every morning, only this time I completely missed the space and drove right into the car next to it. Then did even more damage trying to reverse away. All in front of a big glass office window where many people watched in disbelief, including the owner of the car I was mangling. I'm sure he thought I'd done it on purpose. Weirdly although we exchanged details and he took photos and I apologised loads, he never claimed on my insurance. My car was old so I didn't repair it, it still worked.

Mylittlesandwich · 11/11/2020 10:20

Nothing specifically while pregnant as I couldn't actually drive while heavily pregnant, it was too painful. I did however pick up my new, much bigger car at the start of the year and pretty much immediately reverse it in to a lamppost. I managed to scrape together enough money to replace the tail light that I destroyed but not the bodywork. Someone has since thrown something at my car too so the poor thing doesn't look well at all.

Dollywilde · 11/11/2020 10:22

When DD was 8 weeks old I put her in the car seat at Sainsburys and drive off. Which would have been fine if I hadn’t put my phone on the car roof and forgotten to take it off before driving away...

I did wonder why I was getting beeped so much but just put it down to London, everyone beeps Grin

Amazingly, thanks to having a rubber phone case, putting it down face up, driving v carefully due to baby and the fact it’s a relatively straight journey, when I got home it was still on the roof! Shock

Years ago now, but when I was pregnant with DS1 I walked the half mile or so to the doctors for a check up. She told me to sit up on the bed to have my blood pressure etc done, and we both looked at my feet dangling down in odd shoes. They were wildly different colours (one was bright blue, the other black) and one was flat, while the other had a half inch heel. I hadn't noticed at all.

Oh, I have a clothes one too! Several years ago I worked in quite a casual office so I was wearing leggings and a long jumper. Mid-morning I went to the toilet and when I was finished, I found I was struggling to pull my leggings back up.

A quick inspection found that I was wearing pink Hello Kitty pyjama shorts under my leggings Blush I'd obviously been in a rush that morning and hadn't properly undressed before putting my clothes on!

Ds was only a couple of weeks old, for some reason i chucked the dog onto the front garden for a wee, sat there with her for 5 minutes or so and realised id locked myself out with ds sleeping in his swing inside along with my phone! Id memorised dp mobile number and my sisters. Not wanting to admit to do what id done, i called my sister to come let me back in!! I told dp a few weeks later🤣 ds was fine, still sound asleep while i was a sobbing mess

Xiaoxiong · 11/11/2020 10:40

Just last week, and it was DH driving so no pregnancy excuse (I hope!). We said goodbye to an estate agent having put an offer on a house in a small village, and walked back to the car while she went back to the agency. The village has tiny single lane streets and a new one-way system thanks to covid - we were following it correctly and suddenly came face to face with a large Range Rover coming round the wrong way down a very steep street, refusing to move, flashing and beeping at us. We and all the cars behind us had to reverse through very narrow windy streets to allow this idiot down, and DH was so angry and stressed by the Range Rover's flashing and pressuring him (it was literally 2 inches away from our bonnet) he reversed into a bollard...right outside the estate agent's big plate glass window. Luckily the agency was undamaged but there was an almighty crunch, the agent came running out to see what had happened. Everyone was shouting at the twonk in the Range Rover too who seemed completely oblivious!

On pregnancy stuff, I was once so desperate for a wee in the night when I was 2 weeks overdue with DS1 I waddle-dashed for the loo and just made it, didn't even have time to switch on the light...only to find that the lid of the toilet was down Blush

Xiaoxiong · 11/11/2020 10:41

I've also forgotten cups of coffee on the car roof. More than once Blush
