chunkyrun · 08/11/2020 22:35

No we wear the same Christmas jumpers and buy pjs as needed.

GooseberryTart · 08/11/2020 22:43

I love christmas and have teens now. But no nor do we have christmas duvets and we didn’t christmas eve boxes or elf on the shelf these are much more recent trends. That are all plastered over instagram and facebook.

No. As others, we wear the same Xmas jumpers as many times as possible throughout December and January every year (if the dc have grown out of theirs we hand them down the family, donate to charity or to the school swap thing) and we don't bother with the Xmas PJs.

Ltdannygreen · 08/11/2020 22:58

Just the kids, usually get them new Christmas pjs for Christmas Eve and the Christmas jumpers they usually have a Christmas jumper day at school.

itbemay1 · 08/11/2020 23:00

Nope

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 08/11/2020 23:07

No. Wasteful and... naff

Canyousewcushions · 08/11/2020 23:11

I reuse my Christmas jumper every year. The kids love christmas and wear theirs all year round.

I have one set of christmas themed PJs which get brought out each winter. I often get myself new ones, but not Christmassy as such. The kids wear theirs all year again- as does DH Grin

Canyousewcushions · 08/11/2020 23:12

Our parent council was hoping to run a Christmas jumper swap/ bring and buy type event this year to make it more sustainable, but that one's obviously now on hold

Seafog · 08/11/2020 23:18

No, it has never been a thing in our family.
After midnight mass we open one gift each, then off to bed.
Santa fills our stockings with small treats, fruits , nuts, candies, etc and get opened as soon as you wake.
Wrapped gifts are from people, addressed as such, and get opened after breakfast and coffee

timeforanewstart · 08/11/2020 23:20

Dc used to when little but only because my mum always bought them for them, now teenagers so
No hope
Only time me and dh do xmas jumpers is part of work thing

Grapesoda7 · 08/11/2020 23:21

No, none of us would wear a Xmas jumper. My daughter has some new Xmas Pajamas that she's been wearing for about a month, but she needed new ones and chose Xmas ones.

timeforanewstart · 08/11/2020 23:22

I will add though the dc would wear pjs all year after xmas so got plenty wear

TheChosenTwo · 08/11/2020 23:24

My dc get a pair of pyjamas in their stockings but they’re not necessarily Christmas themed and they definitely don’t match each other. They also wear them all year round.
This year, ds will have a onesie, dd1 will have a shorts and tshirt set and dd2 will had long sleeved/long legged pjs.
They’re not for photo opportunities and they’d rather be seen dead in anything that matches (particularly the dds Grin ).
Ds always gets a handmedown Christmas jumper from an older cousin, we hand the previous years one to a younger cousin. I’ve never bought any of them a Christmas jumper!
I have one Christmas jumper that I wear every year for Christmas jumper day at work. I hate novelty clothing!
Neither dh nor I wear pyjamas ever, don’t own a pair between us.

Changechangychange · 08/11/2020 23:27

Sort of, but the old ones stay in circulation too. DS3 has two christmas jumpers (he may finally have grown out of the one from 2018), and is wearing last year's christmas PJs now. And was in santa socks earlier this week.

The adults in the house don't wear them, but if we did, no I wouldn't buy a new one every year.

MrsBeltane · 08/11/2020 23:28

No

elQuintoConyo · 08/11/2020 23:29

Fuck no.

DS age 9 gets pyjamas, but they're minecraft ones this year, a size too big so will last next year, too. We buy to replace old knackered pyjamas.

I bloody hate Christmas jumpers, they're so ugly and bleurgh. I've got plenty of normal jumpers.

AlwaysLatte · 08/11/2020 23:37

We buy our two boys new jumpers every year. They do Christmas jumper day at school so we need them for that and they sometimes wear them on the big day as well. We adults have ones that we just bring out every year (definitely don't do the awful whole family matching thing). Also I try not to buy actual Christmas pyjamas as they go in the Christmas Eve boxes so don't get a lot of wear (but we do get lovely comfortable fleecy ones). Christmas bedding gets reused every year as well (except this year we had to buy new for our oldest as he's in a double now).

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 08/11/2020 23:39

Yes my children grow very quickly, DH is very tall and the age gap between them is wide. I can not hold onto everything so I usually pass things down to my brothers DC as he has 5.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 08/11/2020 23:42

Last year we bought matching christmas pyjamas from primark, unfortunately mine and my dd1s split and shrunk badly. So this year I've bought better quality ones which I'm hoping will last!

Christmas clothes are brought out each year to wear, dd2 wears hand me downs from dd1. And dd1 is now big enough to borrow mine! I used to buy second hand or after Christmas for dd1 ready for following year! Dd2s get passed on or sold if in good enough condition 😁

BackforGood · 08/11/2020 23:43

No, of course not.
Even when dc were having growth spurts, you'd by first one 'with growing room' then start handing them down, and accepting 'hand-me-downs' from friends and family with older dc, or pick them up in the charity shops in January.

ShipOfTheseus · 08/11/2020 23:45

No. Never heard of Christmas pyjamas, but the DC get pyjamas in their stocking for Christmas - but just normal ones. Never bought Christmas jumpers ever.

Rememberallball · 09/11/2020 04:16

DTS’s too young for Christmas pj’s or jumpers and I don’t agree with them (think they’re incredibly tacky and overhyped) DH has a jumper that he’s had for around 4-5 years that he used to wear on Christmas jumper day at work but doesn’t even do that now as works from home (wasn’t working in December for past 2 years so not involved) As adults we don’t wear pj’s during the rest of the year (last time I did was when in hospital having DTS’s) so won’t start just because it’s Christmas!!

DontKnowHowToReact · 09/11/2020 04:52

Depends you I've had my Christmas jumper for at least 6 years now. DC get one as and when needed and pass them down. DD has Christmas pj's, not bought at Christmas and I only realised after the second time she wore them! They are worn all the year round.
Jumpers I try to get winter rather than Christmas specific (snowflakes or reindeer, not Santa) and they're worn until around Easter usually.

PiccalilliChilli · 09/11/2020 04:59

My teenager wears her pyjamas until they are either way too small for her or are falling to pieces. We don't have the pyjama tradition either.
