What would you buy/do?

Must be life enhancing. Already have all the appliances I need, I think.

And of course must be available for home delivery.Smile

(Small windfall which has to be spent on “something nice, just for you.”)

£500 would buy you a year's subscription to the Craft Gin Club plus £20 leftover to get a takeaway or something.

Each month a bottle of craft gin, snacks, tonics and other mixers and a magazine arrive at your door. Mine is due sometime later today and I'm quite excited.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 06/11/2020 09:27

Oh actually, I’d love some Dubarry country boots!

Or maybe a really fantastic wool coat and a cashmere scarf.

ProfessionalTeaDrinker · 06/11/2020 09:46

Some new running shoes and kit
Some new new clothes (mainly for home working but need couple of normal bits)
Books. Always books.
I've probably not got much left now so would spend anything left on more books Grin

AuntieMarys · 06/11/2020 10:20

A course of facials

MrsJBaptiste · 06/11/2020 10:53

This is quite apt as I earnt a lot more money (for me!) over the summer and just have it sat in the bank. DH is always saying treat yourself but it's such an odd time to be buying things.

A new handbag - but why when I'm stuck WFH for the foreseeable?
Warm clothes for WFH - how boring!
A weekend away - not allowed
House decor - this would come out of usual expenses

I'm not a negative person (honestly!) but I jusy can't think of any treats just for ME!!!

chipsandpeas · 06/11/2020 10:55

id put it away so its there when i lose weight to buy clothes

youngestisapsycho · 06/11/2020 10:58

I has a similar amount for myself last year... bought the expensive Penhaligons perfume I love and wouldnt usually pay that much for, the Liberty advent calendar, and a nice bracelet for myself...

Spied · 06/11/2020 11:00

I'm wanting to try molecules 01 perfume so I'd order a bottle of that.
I'd also like a quality dressing gown and slippers.
Various books
A weighted blanket.

In your case I’d get a beautiful piece of jewellery - that’s never wasted even at home as you can wear it every day and fully appreciate it.
BaronessBomburst · 06/11/2020 11:06

Perfume - Coromandel from Les Exclusif de Chanel, and Tuberose Sotto la Luna by Andy Tauer.
That still leaves around 200, which I'm not sure how I'd spend.

BahHumbygge · 06/11/2020 11:09

Either a weekly subscription to a local grassfed meat box. I feel so much better when I eat keto-ish.
Or put it towards orthodontic treatment, my teeth are crowded, a nightmare to floss and cost a fortune in hygienist appointments.

foxyroxyyy · 06/11/2020 11:14

@LzzyHale

A KitchenAid in raspberry pink
I've got one in this colour. I've regretted it last five or so years and really wish I'd gone for a more neutral colour. Also I didn't get the glass bowl and I regret that too!
IdblowJonSnow · 06/11/2020 11:17

An art deco drinks trolley with beautiful glass decanters and an array of vodkas!

MidnightFlit · 06/11/2020 11:25

£500 could make your bed a real winter nest: wool duvet, mattress topper, new pillows, French linen duvet cover/pillowcases (no ironing required for crumpled 'boutique' look - bonus). Or a whole new mattress. I never begrudge money spent on my bedroom.

I also love the idea of a flower subscription. I buy myself flowers on my late parents' birthdays, because I always sent flowers to them for theirs - if it's a little inheritance, that's a nice way to remember someone.

Or a really fab fountain pen and some letter press correspondence cards with your address printed on.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 06/11/2020 11:27

Oh god there are so many things I want.

Just realised I’d probably buy a vintage Danish MCM decanter and a range of glasses to match the shot glasses I already have.

Gazelda · 06/11/2020 11:28

Jewellery from an independent jeweller.
Cashmere beanie from Turtle Doves
Flower or gardening subscription
Premium bonds
New bras
Theatre tickets

LaraLuce · 06/11/2020 11:29

Books

octoberfarm · 06/11/2020 11:29

I think I'd buy some cozy treats (favorite snacks, new slippers and a dressing gown, etc), some good books, a few new plants for the house and loads of bulbs for my garden next year.

Justonedayatatime11 · 06/11/2020 11:30

£425 on a pair of heeled Amiras from fairfax and favour and the rest on milk and dark coffee creams from Audreys

AudTheDeepMinded · 06/11/2020 11:38

Definitely a nice piece of antique jewellery, something classic.

MyCatReallyIsAGit · 06/11/2020 11:39

I had a similar windfall recently. I spent some of it on doing stuff with my baby while I still could (stuff that was otherwise a bit too expensive on the no-pay part of maternity leave like pottery prints and baby swimming). I’m still deciding what to do with the rest but seriously considering a nice piece of jewellery.

LBOCS2 · 06/11/2020 11:44

Trees.

We've got a new garden, and the first stage of giving it proper structure is to get some trees in. I want a couple of small birches and three espaliered fruit trees.

And 10x rose bushes from David Austen for the front. The combination of those two sets of purchases would make me very happy, for years and years.

Alternatively I could really do with a new pair of country boots, and you can never go wrong with Ugg slippers - they're spendy (for slippers) but worth every penny.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/11/2020 11:45

Family membership for the watersports club (was £90 last year)
Large Lego set... Maybe Hogwarts Castle
New phone.

Coffeecak3 · 06/11/2020 11:45

A new winter coat for dog walking and some really expensive pillows that don't go flat after a week.

ginglebellsginglebells · 06/11/2020 11:51

I think the idea of a subscription so you get longevity is a great one.

Someone mentioned Bloom and Wild earlier. I used to use them for letterbox flowers.

If you haven't tried them before, may I recommend Freddie's Flowers? They're a few quid more expensive than B&W, and default is weekly delivery, but I set it up with a nice person on the phone to send my Mum a bouquet every month. The difference is huge. Probably twice as many flowers, really big, lush blooms and they really do last for ages.
