Sorry, another TV one - what would be a good lockdown watch?

So last March I discovered This Is Us on Amazon Prime which I loved. I am now looking for something similar to keep me amused over the evenings when I would usually be at running club or bootcamp.

I am ideally wanting something that's had a few seasons (4-5 ish possibly) and really easy to watch.

My favourites in the past are:

Revenge
This Is Us
Pretty Little Liars
Gossip Girl
Emily in Paris
Jane The Virgin
Heartland
Chesopeke (sp?) Shores

So something that's not too thinky. I did try to watch Friends from the beginning, but the laughter (canned or audience) just annoyed me so preferably without that.

I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky boxsets so a few platforms there.

Gilmore Girls got me through the first bit if lockdown and Offspring through the rest. Both on Netflix with multiple seasons.

Do I need to know about the original Gilmore Girls? Wasn't it on ages ago and this is either a remake or following the same characters?

Never heard of Offspring so will have a look at that one. Thank you

I like most of the things you've listed OP except haven't watched Emily in Paris

Gilmore Girls is great. I think it's on Netflix from season 1.

I think you'd like Virgin River.

I recently watched all of Desperate Housewives and enjoyed that.

I loved the early series of Once Upon a Time.

Greys Anatomy.

Lurleene · 05/11/2020 20:47

All of Gilmore Girls is on Netflix so all the original episodes from the 90s and they did a revisit a couple of years ago called A Year in the Life which is just 4 episodes long.

Offspring is Australian. I was put off by the trailer so avoided it for a while but tried it out of curiosity and was soon hooked.

I totally forgot about Virgin River. Really enjoyed that too.

Seen Desperate Housewives a few years ago. Loved the John Barrowman season.

Got a bit fed up of OUAT when Hades was in it. Plus I believe Hook left? So there's not much point Wink

Will def look into Gilmore Girls. Not sure if Greys has been on too long though, but possible.

Brothers and Sisters on Amazon Prime

I thought the Gilmore Girls was much older than the 90's. Its definitely a possibility.

While looking at Netflix I'm also thinking Steel Magnolias and trying to find where I left New Girl (I've seen the first few seasons, but for some reason stopped watching it)

EatPrayYoga · 05/11/2020 20:58

Yes I think I stopped watching OUAT at the same time OP

I think Greys is on Amazon

Do you like horror? I liked American Horror Story. I also watched vampire diaries for a bit.

Homeland.
Heroes.

Have you seen Nashville?

Sharp Objects on Sky

Kidding on Sky

I liked Steel Magnolias too and Brothers and Sisters

ShowingOut · 05/11/2020 21:01

Going by what you've posted, I would recommend:

Big Little Lies
Little Fires Everywhere
How To Get Away With Murder

OrangeBananaFish · 05/11/2020 21:05

Oooh lots more options. I'm going to be OK for years now at this rate. I don't usually watch much on a night as I'm too busy out and about.

Seen Heroes and AHS (Only really liked the first season)
I started watching Nashville and did think to try again as it sounds like I should like it, but forgot to look for it.

So a few more for my list. Thank you.

nancybotwinbloom · 05/11/2020 21:15

Liar
The fall
Weeds
sex education
Line of duty
Dr foster

nancybotwinbloom · 05/11/2020 21:16

@EatPrayYoga
I was so late to the game of thrones series but i have to say it's the best thing I've ever watched

ShirazSavedMySanity · 05/11/2020 21:20

I also watched This is Us and felt bereft when I’d finished it 🙈

Schitts Creek on Netflix this filling the gap. I saw it recommended on MN and am pleased I gave it a go. Episodes are only 20 mins so easy to dip in and out of.

I think there are around four seasons available.

EatPrayYoga · 05/11/2020 21:21

I second Schitts Creek, Docotor Foster and Liar

The Nest

There was a bbc one about a family law firm too

The stranger

countdowntonap · 05/11/2020 21:23

Also agree with Little Fires Everywhere

GrouchyKiwi · 05/11/2020 21:24

I'm watching The Night Shift on Netflix and enjoying that. It's like how Grey's used to be.

KodakNancyEurope · 05/11/2020 21:26

Yesssss to Doctor Foster and in keeping with the Jodie Comer theme seek out the White Princess.

I’m watching this thread with interest as I’ve recently tried a couple of things that sounded so promising but were absolute shit.

The Split!

A big yes from me. Start with S1 E1 though, else you’ll miss things.

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/11/2020 21:27

We have similar taste and I was going to suggest Steel Magnolia’s, definitely a nice gentle watch.

This Is Us season 5 is on now. Episodes 1-2 are up and then an episode a week from next Wednesday.

Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Prime is absolutely excellent

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/11/2020 21:28

I also loved Nashville but lost grip on it after a few seasons, might look again

BikeRunSki · 05/11/2020 21:29

Did you know that Season 5 of This Is Us has started streaming on Prime?
