Would you roller skate around your local area for excercise

I do, as I find it fun

Harmarsuperstar · 05/11/2020 13:20

If I could, I probably would

FingersCrossedForAllOfUs · 05/11/2020 13:21

Why not!

NetballHoop · 05/11/2020 13:22

No.

But only because I'd be a danger to the general public.

MrsJBaptiste · 05/11/2020 13:22

Not unless I looked amazing in tiny shorts, a bra top and legwarmers.

If not, then no, it would look ridiculous.

ReindeersAreBetterThanHumans · 05/11/2020 13:23

No because I broke my wrist last time I put roller skates on!

Yes but prefer park or promenade as you get a clear run. I used to have some amazing clip in clip off skates. Hypno Skates. Can't buy them at the moment.

amusedbush · 05/11/2020 13:24

I think it would be fun but the pavements around here (even the paths in the park) are really rough and uneven, covered in broken glass and dog shit. So it's a no from me Grin

MedusasBadHairDay · 05/11/2020 13:24

If I want disabled I totally would, I used to love rollerskating!

BreathyVoix · 05/11/2020 13:27

No. You aren't allowed on the road and a dangerous pain in the arse on the pavement. Plus aren't you too old by now? 🙄

BreathyVoix · 05/11/2020 13:27

It's also very noisy. Attention seekers.

InsuranceAnalyst · 05/11/2020 13:30

I've got skates but haven't skated in years. Would love to, but I'd be a bit nervous about falling over outside on uneven ground. Must have a go when the local rink is open again though!

vanillandhoney · 05/11/2020 13:31

No. It's very hilly, plus there are too many dogs and small children on the pavements around here to make it safe. I don't really think it should be allowed on pavements anyway - just in parks etc.

Splodgetastic · 05/11/2020 13:33

If I could, I would!

Lardlizard · 05/11/2020 13:34

I’ve got my original roller boots from late 80 early 90s online stakes and heelies

But I prefer the roller boots as they are just so comfy

OP posts:
Lardlizard · 05/11/2020 13:34

Inline not online

OP posts:
Torvean32 · 05/11/2020 13:35

I'd love to but the paving is a joke, I'd probably fall and break a wrist.

Lardlizard · 05/11/2020 13:37

The roller boots are the navy ones with the rainbow on the heels must be 80s

OP posts:
ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 05/11/2020 13:37

Why not if you enjoy it?

Ignore the people saying you would look ridiculous. I doubt they are the kind of people whose approval you want or need.

Lardlizard · 05/11/2020 13:40

It’s pretty good excercise, I don’t wear 80s clothes just jeans jumper and coat

OP posts:
bonbonours · 05/11/2020 13:45

Only if there was a nice smooth bit of tarmac somewhere as roller skating on even slightly bumpy ground is horrible. I love skating at indoor rinks.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 05/11/2020 13:46

Good for you!!

If I wasn't falling apart I would, but these days I'd be far too worried about further fucking my knees & hips that are already a bit dodgy. I've lost my balance & ability to 'self correct' if if I trip so I imagine I'd end up really damaging myself & losing my job. Too much to risk these days!!

But anyone physically able who would enjoy it, shoukd while they can FUCK what anyone thinks!!

landoflostcontent · 05/11/2020 13:48

Oh I would love to but I am over seventy with no sense of balance. We also live on a steep hill with blind corners.
I CAN skate (or I could in the days of my youth) but the family say they are not going to scrape up the pieces and apologise to the neighbours if/when I damage their cars Grin

NameChange84 · 05/11/2020 13:49

Yes, in fact quite a few people do it on empty industrial estate car parks, the abandoned tennis courts in local parks, any quiet smooth services nearby where I live. It’s really taken off as a hobby.

LadyCatStark · 05/11/2020 14:04

100% if there was anywhere smooth to skate on near my house!
