What is the colour of your kitchen

I've unexpectedly been given the next month off work 😉 and organising the replacement of our kitchen cupboard doors is something I've been meaning to do for a while.

But what colour? 😩

Not keen on white but I'm open to any other colour. So can you tell me the colour of your doors please.
At the moment mine are oak wooden doors.
Thank you

How many kitchen cupboards? North or south facing room ?

JamesAnderson · 04/11/2020 08:02

We have 10 cupboards, 2 of which are full height plus 2 glass door cupboards and the room faces south west

White is the only colour that doesn’t date, anything by else won’t be ‘in’ in 10 years time.

Mine are white and we just change the work tops and wall paint now and again and it looks like a whole new kitchen!

Fozzleyplum · 04/11/2020 08:05

We had our rather tired looking oak kitchen painted in F&B Mizzle - a pale grey- green. 4 years on, I still love it.

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/11/2020 08:05

Well, what colours do you like? I used to have a glorious deep red high gloss kitchen (back in the days I had an enormous kitchen diner) and people always thought it looked ace, but that’s not a goer if you hate red. Now I have white and minimalist because my kitchen is small and it creates an illusion of space.

I’d avoid grey, tbh, unless you really love it. It’s very “in” and so you’ll see it everywhere and it might get a bit samey.

Cream walls, duck egg blue cupboards and white worktops.

Purplekitchen · 04/11/2020 08:07

Our cupboards are dark charcoal grey with a white quartz worktop and white walls. We have a bright painted dresser which adds a bit of colour.

CherryPavlova · 04/11/2020 08:07

Dayroom Yellow cupboards and House White walls. Touches of Dorset cream. Quite bright and sunny.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 04/11/2020 08:09

Mine white with wood work top. It's a galley kitchen with no wall units. I just re wallpaper every couple of years but have been looking at navy doors as a replacement.

Sage green shaker cupboards, wooden effect laminate worktop, white walls, wooden effect LVT flooring.

Mine is probably going to date horribly.

Grey cabinets
White quartz work tops with sparkly inclusions

I love it.

Ha ha mine is a terracotta orange

dementedma · 04/11/2020 08:16

Sunshine yellow here with windows to the South and East so its very bright.

JamesAnderson · 04/11/2020 08:16

I'm not that keen on white doors to be honest. I'm not worried about it dating I'd rather have something I like and an happy to live with and use.

The sage doors appeal as do the duck egg blue

@ComtesseDeSpair red is my favourite colour but I'm not sure I could convince DH

Charcoal grey and walnut cupboards, white quartz worktops, antique brass splashback and lights. Room is south facing with big windows and gets lots of light.

averythinline · 04/11/2020 08:17

F&B drawing room blue bottom, white top, bamboo floor, white sparkly laminate worksurface - love it -

I almost went all blue as had always wanted a blue kitchen but wanted the lightness of white and not a fan of light blue - south east facing lots of light

would recommend valspar colour match eggshell if you find a colour you like ....although just noticed they've discontinued that colour - my alternative was Stiffkey which is also really nice..

JamesAnderson · 04/11/2020 08:22

F&B drawing room blue bottom, white top

This is something I'd not considered, different tops to bottoms. 🤔 What do you have on full height cupboards with a split door?

I think different coloured cupboards look lovely, best of both worlds.

WonderMoon · 04/11/2020 08:33

White walls, ecru kitchen units, light oak worktops.
The white walls just give it a nice clean, bright feeling. We also brighten it up with lots of green plants and have some jazzy artwork on the walls.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 04/11/2020 08:41

Navy blue gloss top cupboards and grey matte base cupboards. White quartz worktop with grey sparkles, but not obviously so. One wall is painted denim blue and the room faces south. It’s a kitchen/dining/ living room, where we are mostly during the daytime.

EmmaStone · 04/11/2020 08:52

Ours are oak with black granite work surface, and terracotta tiled flooring (inherited from previous owners).

In 3 weeks the doors are being painted in a pale grey. Can't afford to change flooring and work surface, so have had to choose a colour that we think works with them (and quite a dark room).

Previous house we had pale pale grey cabinetry, limestone floors, and a white/grey marbled worktop. Was really light and airy, I loved it (but I chose it, so...).

BarbaraofSeville · 04/11/2020 09:09

Mumsnet no-no grey gloss, with another Mumsnet no-no a feature wall in a bright colour, with the rest of the kitchen in white (and normal pure brilliant white trade emulsion at that, not some artisan slightly off white at three times the cost).

I also don't care about whether or not it's 'dated' I genuinely like them and will probably keep it for decades.

H1978 · 04/11/2020 09:33

Bottom cupboards are black gloss and the top ones are white. White granite worktop and dark pink splashback. White walls and wood look tiles. I love everything except the black gloss cupboards. Nightmare to keep clean.
