What is the colour of your kitchen

I've unexpectedly been given the next month off work 😉 and organising the replacement of our kitchen cupboard doors is something I've been meaning to do for a while.

But what colour? 😩

Not keen on white but I'm open to any other colour. So can you tell me the colour of your doors please.
At the moment mine are oak wooden doors.
Thank you

opinionatedfreak my kitchen sounds exactly the same as yours, I have purple accessories.

Bluesheep8 · 04/11/2020 12:32

Wooden cupboards painted in f and b skimming stone, light oak effect worktops, walls painted pale blue.

lazylinguist · 04/11/2020 12:35

Just had our kitchen done. We went for a high gloss, kind of glassy effect ice grey/blue.

Meant to say - it looks a bit cold and bare atm, but waiting for blinds and accessories!

Shmithecat2 · 04/11/2020 12:40

I think the cupboards are painted in F&B Ammonite. Sage green walls. Black marble work top. Wood floor. It's an old house (from 1870 in one part to early 1900s where the kitchen is). The decor is not my cup of tea, but it's a rental, and it doesn't look hideous.

My cupboards are white high-gloss and were just here when we moved in but have to say I'd never go for gloss again. Bloody fingerprints magnet. But if you're going to do it go dark, so at least you don't get the filthy fingerprints as well as the smears.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 04/11/2020 13:06

@JamesAnderson

F&B drawing room blue bottom, white top

This is something I'd not considered, different tops to bottoms. 🤔 What do you have on full height cupboards with a split door?

Usually the base cupboard colour.
spiderlight · 04/11/2020 13:07

Cream gloss doors, 'grey oak' worktops, which actually aren't all that grey, more of a driftwood colour, and Valspar 'Cupcake', which is a warm cream, on the walls. I love it - it's very clean and calm-looking.

GuyFawkesHadTheRightIdea · 04/11/2020 13:09

Black and white. Its my favourite room in the house.

See, the high gloss sounded quite appealing and easy to clean until this post.

I also have dogs so maybe that's put paid to that 😩

White. My favorite color for kitchens has always been white. Like a lot of houses in the US, it's open plan into the family room, and I think it's easier to decorate both rooms with a white kitchen. The predominate secondary color is green in both rooms.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 04/11/2020 13:16

French Grey (which is more like a pale sage green). East facing, lots of windows, big room.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 04/11/2020 13:24

The walls are Dulux Jasmine White, floor is limestone (creamy beige colour), tops are composite stone in a creamy colour.

South (or West) facing, you can go for cooler colours without worrying. I went for warmer colours because my room is East facing.

MinnieJackson · 04/11/2020 13:55

We have olive walls and cream cupboards with pale laminate flooring. The white made it look so much nicer but the upkeeps a pain in the ass. The paint chips pretty easily and needs retouching quite a lot

ginsparkles · 04/11/2020 14:00

We have just done ours. It's white, with solid oak worktops, and one blue wall. We had knocked through from the kitchen to the dining room so it's a big open plan space. We have grey slate tiles on the floor.

AliceAforethought · 04/11/2020 14:34

@Fozzleyplum

We had our rather tired looking oak kitchen painted in F&B Mizzle - a pale grey- green. 4 years on, I still love it.
Yay! I also have a "Mizzle" kitchen. Got it made in wood, and can paint it in future if I want a change of colour. I still love it Mizzle, though.
BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 04/11/2020 14:38

Bright purple tiles, pale purple walls. Units are gloss white & the worktops are black, dark grey tiles on the floor (with dark grey grout).

Reading that makes it sound awful but I get lots of compliments when people see it & I like it Grin

Waspnest · 04/11/2020 15:00

Gloss pale green from IKEA. Choose long handles so that people are more likely to use them but to be honest I easily remove fingerprints/smears with a bit of damp kitchen roll when I notice them. The glass in our room doors on the other hand is a PITA to keep clean..... (even if it does make the rooms lovely and light).

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 04/11/2020 15:09

I don’t understand why people are negative about high gloss. All you need is a damp wipe and buff with a microfibre cloth. Takes a very short time and I don’t find it particularly onerous.

itsgettingcoldoutside · 04/11/2020 15:11

I would go for cream if I was changing mine
I painted the kitchen, last lockdown and did it an off white and oatmeal colour on one wall. It looks lovely. However I think eventually we'll need to replace the cupboards and oven.

Cosmos45 · 04/11/2020 15:15

Mine was done 4 years ago and it is French Gray by F&B which is actually a pale sage green. I love it (but I live in a very old house and this is very much a country style Kitchen). I have it with stone floors, cornforth white walls and dark grey granite.

SollaSollew · 04/11/2020 15:25

My new kitchen is in the garage at the moment waiting to be installed but it is going to be painted like this colour Shaded White with brass handles and marble worktops.

Yes, exactly! It's so easy to wipe over quickly. I have 5dc & a muddy dog & don't find it a problem. It wasn't an issue when we also had the St Bernard either the mud just went higher up.
