Would a barking dog next door put you off buying a house?

Absolutely yes.
Also the trampoline.
And decking.
Why decking???

DishingOutDone · 08/11/2020 14:56

I'm not sure about this you know guys; we live in a cul de sac with 25 houses, 5 of which have at least one dog. So if opinion on here is anything to go by, we'd all be buggered to sell up - if next door had visitors to view my dog would bark at them through the window, and then if I was trying to sell their dogs would bark at my viewer. And god forbid when the postman comes its like a circle of woof.

DishingOutDone · 08/11/2020 14:56

I have to say though, none of us have decking.

SugarCoatIt · 08/11/2020 14:57

Yes

zighead · 08/11/2020 15:01

Most definitely. It's absolutely awful living next door to a noisy dog. Thankfully my neighbours realised they couldn't cope with it after about a year and it went to live with one of their family members. Happiest day of my life! Grin

silentpool · 08/11/2020 15:03

Yes. It's like nails on a chalk board.

LolalovesLondon · 08/11/2020 17:06

Dishing
Sounds like hell.
Hope nobody on your street is planning to sell.

Hovverry · 08/11/2020 18:53

I have a barky dog, though he is never left to bark for hours. I often apologise to my neighbours, who say it’s not a problem but maybe they’re just being polite.
It isn’t actually possible to stop a dog barking if he’s hard wired to be alert and on guard the whole time. I have tried every single method which does not involve cruelty.
I’m sorry but there are some things we can’t help.

SunsetBeetch · 08/11/2020 18:55

Yes.

BlueThistles · 08/11/2020 18:56

Yes

and nobody's suggesting you force a dog to stop barking... but living next to it... Hell No 🌺

Yes

We had a very barky dog and trained him to be quiet and ‘speak’ on command, we got an expert in. It can be done, needs patience and (in this case) a very expensive behaviourist....but worth it!

Dishing Sounds like hell. Hope nobody on your street is planning to sell.
Oh I don't know, decking is easy installed.
LolalovesLondon · 09/11/2020 08:24

Dishing
How would decking solve the barking problem? 😅

DishingOutDone · 09/11/2020 15:08

It would distract potential buyers. That's my plan.

BlueThistles · 09/11/2020 16:52

decking versus constant barking dog... 🤔

I wouldn't touch the house with a barge pole 😂

Mydogisagentleman · 09/11/2020 17:41

Yes.
A dog near my parents (500 metres away or so) appears to bark as a hobby.
It’s a lovely pointer and is walked frequently but it just barks endlessly

Caroncanta · 09/11/2020 17:45

No I wouldn't buy it. Not a chance.

AndIquote · 09/11/2020 18:05

Yes.
Not a peep when we had 4 viewings and countless walk-bys. Then we moved in.
NDNs were out all day leaving it howling & barking except lunchtime visit to let it have a pee.

Couldn't go into garden without it barking at the fence. Fucker barked even when it heard our microwave ping or a cupboard close.
NDN then said other neighbour had complained in the past to them about barking claiming they had a cheek and "he can't help it.".
Others on the street had asked us if we could stop the dog barking (thinking it was our dog).
It cost us a fortune to move but I couldn't wait and was surprised it didn't put next buyer off.
