Anyone up for a "what are you watching tonight?" Thread?

Feel in a viewing/entertainment rut and didn't want to restrict the thread to tv, film or streaming platforms so I'm posting here.

I'm also tired of getting the SAME films/tv shows recommended constantly both on here and on apps and sites that are supposed to help you find new things to watch.

I swear if one more person recommends breaking bad or Luther I'll scream!

That aside if posters want to recommend those to people on thread who may genuinely like them crack on. My point is simply I'm not interested in those shows.

I'm hoping this thread will throw up some lesser known/recommended films and shows so I and others might find things more suited to our (generally) less populist tastes.

I'm also very much out the habit of watching "normal" tv which means I'm not only missing out on actual programmes but I also don't see trailers/ads for new stuff coming up that I may well fancy.

So...this is a thread for the telly addicts, film buffs and streaming aficionados who don't watch what everyone else is watching (usually Grin)

Anyone up for that?

We’ve been rewatching the West Wing ahead of the US election. Going to switch to the Pride of Britain Awards in a few minutes.

Joswis · 01/11/2020 20:47

I am watching a 2003 TV series called Between the Sheets. Found it on You Tube and remembered I'd enjoyed it the first time.

I watched the end of the unforgettable series earlier on amazon
Now on Chesapeake shores on Netflix which is very virgin river/heartland type

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/11/2020 20:49

I've been rewatching Waterloo Road. 😂

purpleme12 · 01/11/2020 20:50

I'm watching 'Loving' at the minute. It's a film. Have you seen it?

Graphista · 01/11/2020 20:51

I've also been watching the west wing and mostly enjoying but it requires concentration which I can't always manage.

Not heard of between the sheets will have a look

Spitting image on britbox? I've heard it's on there but I don't fancy subscribing for the sake of 1 show and I haven't yet seen anything else I fancy on Britbox

Drop the dead donkey is on all4 too at the moment which is on my "to watch" list

Schitz creek, been watching it all day on the sofa as the weather is awful here! Took me a while to watch it but I'm loving it.

Do you like cringy comedy op? If so I recommend camping, Marion and Geoff and human remains.

jellybe · 01/11/2020 20:52

I'm re-watching Dawson's Creek on Netflix 😁

With DH I'm watching the queen's gambit but he's working tonight so I'm being very good and not watching it without him. (Though I really want to)

Graphista · 01/11/2020 20:53

I liked Waterloo road back in the day but felt it "jumped the shark" later

Loving - is that a 60's movie?

Top Gear at the mo but if I can stay awake, I’ll be watching ITV’s “ The Sister”. Seen the first couple of episodes & it’s quite good.

APurpleSquirrel · 01/11/2020 20:55

We're watching the final episode of season two of The Alienist on Netflix.

Graphista · 01/11/2020 20:56

Cringe not really my thing.

Sarcasm, observational, the human condition and the absurdity of it yes

Never watched Dawson's creek, I was "too old" the first time around, being more a teen thing? And I was in my 20's, married and new motherhood at the time it came out so it didn't really appeal

The German between the wars series Babylon Berlin on DVD.

It's set in 1958 but was made 4 years ago About a black women and white man who lived in a state of America which forbid mixed race marriage so they went to get married out of state About their fight for it.
ivftake1 · 01/11/2020 20:58

Rewatching succession because it's the best thing I've seen for a long long time

Tamingofthehamster · 01/11/2020 20:58

I’m watching the queens Gambit As well . I’m really enjoying it although I thought it looked really dull

Graphista · 01/11/2020 20:59

Seen the sister recommended might wait till it's all been shown and binge watch

The alienist is my kinda thing, I think? Crime drama especially serial killer stuff is interesting and 80's setting appeals. Seems more broadchurch than "crime/criminal of the week" which appeals too though I like episodic too

I’ve just finished Love Life on BBC Iplayer and enjoyed it. Nice easy watch.

PumpkinsPatch · 01/11/2020 21:01

We watched a film called "The Color Out of Space"

Alien horror type thing with Nicolas Cage.

Very weird. Not very good.

longtompot · 01/11/2020 21:08

I watched The Bridge last weekend. The original Danish/Swedish version. Gutted I have finished what's on the iPlayer but looking forward to the next season.

Tonight I am watching Spy as it's silly, interesting and as I've seen it a few times I don't have to focus too much.

Gaelforce · 01/11/2020 21:14

just finished watching The Guilty - movie on Netflix - Danish.
Thought it was very good.

Me too. We only started watching as it came highly recommended by a friend who has very similar taste in tv as me.
Yorkshireswithallroasts · 01/11/2020 21:16

Proud to admit that I’m currently rewatching Geordie Shore from the beginning.
