Anyone up for a "what are you watching tonight?" Thread?

Feel in a viewing/entertainment rut and didn't want to restrict the thread to tv, film or streaming platforms so I'm posting here.

I'm also tired of getting the SAME films/tv shows recommended constantly both on here and on apps and sites that are supposed to help you find new things to watch.

I swear if one more person recommends breaking bad or Luther I'll scream!

That aside if posters want to recommend those to people on thread who may genuinely like them crack on. My point is simply I'm not interested in those shows.

I'm hoping this thread will throw up some lesser known/recommended films and shows so I and others might find things more suited to our (generally) less populist tastes.

I'm also very much out the habit of watching "normal" tv which means I'm not only missing out on actual programmes but I also don't see trailers/ads for new stuff coming up that I may well fancy.

So...this is a thread for the telly addicts, film buffs and streaming aficionados who don't watch what everyone else is watching (usually Grin)

Anyone up for that?

I am watching the latest series of good girls. It’s hilarious. Just finished watching police academy on Netflix with dh. We love it. Puts you in a good mood away from all the doom and gloom.

and as I've seen it a few times I don't have to focus too much

This is why I end up watching the same things repeatedly!

If I'm struggling with concentration I need something I can easily follow, but other times I want something more meaty and I'm aware I'm very out of touch with the world at the moment as I'm housebound due to ill health. I normally watch the news, question time, newsnight etc to stay connected but as I have ocd and am anxious generally I've had to tone that down as it was making me much worse this year

The best show I've watched in the last couple of years is Crazy Ex Girlfriend (it's on netflix) which I believe is not that well-known/not one of your often-recommended. It's a musical comedy. Created by 2 women. I completely loved it.

@Graphista

Seen the sister recommended might wait till it's all been shown and binge watch

The alienist is my kinda thing, I think? Crime drama especially serial killer stuff is interesting and 80's setting appeals. Seems more broadchurch than "crime/criminal of the week" which appeals too though I like episodic too

The Sister has already been on Tele last week so you can watch it all on catch up

Sky Arts Book Club Live - a brilliant 2 hours every Sunday evening. Now available on Freeview 11, so you do not have to have a Sky sub to watch it. Cannot recommend it too highly.

Crazy ex girlfriend sounds my kinda thing

@purpleme12 thanks may check it out

I have a weird "tv" setup in that I don't have a physical tv I watch on tablet and not everything available to me.

Let me know what you think of Crazy ex girlfriend. I just thought of a lesser-known film I love. Adaptation. I don't think it was that well-liked but I love it and it's really different. It's on Netflix
