I went to ikea yesterday evening and it was the busiest I’ve ever seen it.

TheChosenTwo · 01/11/2020 11:34

Haven’t been to physical shops for quite some time and I’m not planning on going for a good long time in future.
I can get anything I need online, lots of our little independent shops have now got websites to buy through which I’m doing more and more.
I don’t do a tremendous amount of shopping in the first place though.
Joggers I would buy online (loads of places do a next day delivery) and I’d be getting an I like food delivery set up ASAP! Obviously that depends on a few factors, I’d imagine if you haven’t ever set one up before you may not stand much of a chance.
I just can’t be arsed with queueing up to get into a shop or wearing a mask so I’ve been avoiding shopping.
I reckon my local town will be manic today.
Good luck though if you do venture out, and stay safe!

KindergartenKop · 01/11/2020 13:17

The queue outside wilko just before it opened was huge!

EasttoWest · 01/11/2020 13:18

Just been to Next massive queue!

WankPuffins · 01/11/2020 13:19

Dh tried to pop to Lidl. It’s in a retail park with next, Poundland, m&s etc - he gave up. Couldn’t even get near the huge car park because of traffic going in.

DelphineWalsh · 01/11/2020 13:19

We were in town early to do specsavers when it opened and by the time we left there were queues outside most big retailers in the main shopping centre.

WankPuffins · 01/11/2020 13:21

I need to go into town tomorrow as I have to go to the bank for something urgent that can’t be done online, I’m expecting it to be rammed.

Landlubber2019 · 01/11/2020 13:25

Went into the local town, gave up on for the few bits I needed. I did however buy a jigsaw I didn't need!!!!I

It wasn't busy but there were queues and 75% of the shops were closed!!!!

Sheknowsaboutme · 01/11/2020 13:46

Id love to go to Primark and B&M to buy shit.
But lockdown 😡

I went to tesco for bread and clover and came out with loads of refused food. Tesco finest cottage pie/lasagnes etc. Cheesecake, puddings in pots -their £10 finest meal deals hadn’t sold well👍🏻

Sheknowsaboutme · 01/11/2020 13:46

Refused = REDUCED!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 01/11/2020 13:51

I really miss having a mooch around Primark. They've been in lockdown areas for ages near me. Watching people on the news going to shops feels so alien to me right now.

burglarbettybaby · 01/11/2020 13:54

I wouldn't bother. Just order online.
We've been in lockdown for a couple of weeks and have been ok for most things via delivery

salcombebabe · 01/11/2020 13:58

I haven’t but my friend is Christmas shopping at our local retail park which has a huge range of shops. She said it’s soooo busy!!! I’ll be ordering online as I usually do.

LynetteScavo · 01/11/2020 14:11

I went shopping on Friday because I guessed this was coming - everywhere was deserted. I drove past Boots, Sports Direct and Curry's today and there were huge queues, but I was able to pop into Sainsbury's OK.

mygrandchildrenrock · 01/11/2020 14:13

I went to Tesco today and there was a huge queue outside, before 10.00 am. Just like back in March.

theliverpoolone · 01/11/2020 14:13

I must have been lucky as I went to Sainsburys just after 10am expecting to queue, but didn't. It felt a bit busier than a normal Sunday, but I got everything I needed, just a normal shop for the next few days. No idea why people feel the need to 'panic buy' - supermarkets aren't closing!

TartanDMs · 01/11/2020 14:15

Went to M&S Food this morning because there was a huge queue at Morrisons at 11am. M&S busy but not too bad. There was a really long queue for Card Factory though which confused me.

doctorhamster · 01/11/2020 14:17

I've just been out to my local Sainsburys (midlands) and it was no busier than it would usually be. I've not braved any non essential retailers though as I imagine they'd be rammed!

BananaPop2020 · 01/11/2020 14:19

Yes, and it was rammed, much like Christmas Eve. Given I work Mon-Fri 9-5 it was go today or not at all 😐

EssexGurl · 01/11/2020 14:48

Went to our local small town this lunchtime. Very quiet. M&S, Boots, Sainsbury’s. I went to Lakeside on Friday and there were queues to get into Zara and Primark then. This was before the announcement. So I’m not sure what difference imminent lockdown will have tbh. I’d go as kids need clothes (despite what the Welsh think!).

Strawberryplum · 01/11/2020 15:21

I’m in Scotland, the shops were a total nightmare yesterday And Friday and we aren’t in a full lockdown. People panicking buying toilet rolls, emptying shelves as if there is no tomorrow. Get a bloody grip!

Pickypolly · 01/11/2020 15:21

Queues around the shop at Currys pc world, Argos & pet world.
Aldi busy, queues at the tills, car park for all 3 heaving, cars queuing to get in & out of the car park.
Chaos.

PolarBearStrength · 01/11/2020 15:33

Our local Budgens was much busier than usual yesterday (small village, limited choice). But popped into ‘town’ today with DS for lunch after a walk and it was absolutely fine.

Bluntness100 · 01/11/2020 15:35

My husband went to b&q and said it was mobbed, he thought everyone was getting their diy shit to do the jobs over lock down.

AlexandraPeppernose · 01/11/2020 15:38

Went to tesco. It was fine. No queuing
