Been to our town centre for primark, home bargains etc and all the same as it has been over the last few months. Slight queue for primark but the rest just walked straight into.

Rowgtfc72 · 01/11/2020 15:41

We did b and q yesterday thank god as today there is a huge queue.
Bought my Christmas cards yesterday as some need posting.
Iceland this morning was absolute chaos.
Need to brave primark wed for joggers and stuff for dd. Dreading it!

Have been to Tesco at lunchtime and fine no queue outside at all and not to busy inside.

Also went to local retail park and car park was full. Smyths toy shop had a massive queue, Next didn’t have a queue but was busy.

Nsky · 01/11/2020 15:49

Went to Aldi just after 10, busy but ok, few things running low tho

SingleHandSue · 01/11/2020 15:51

We went to Tesco and it was no busier than a usual Sunday.

DS was due a haircut this week so thought we’d try to get to the barbers today. I called first thing and was told they had a huge queue at opening, when we got there at 1pm though he was seen straight away.

Oliversmumsarmy · 01/11/2020 15:54

Went last night to Lidl and it was wonderful.

Hardly anyone in there and the only thing missing was kitchen towel so they went in the back and brought more out.

No idea about today but I wouldn’t be expecting more than the usual Sunday busyness

Marcipex · 01/11/2020 15:55

I’ve been to Tesco today. It was a bit busier than usual, more like a Saturday, but not carnage and no shortages.

FrappuccinoFan · 01/11/2020 15:58

I have only been to boots, Zara & M&S and I wouldn’t say any store is busier than normal.
You have to bare in mind that aside from lockdown, it’s payday weekend so it would always have been busier than recent weeks

ginghamtablecloths · 01/11/2020 16:15

I went to Sainsbury's and there was no queue to get in, it didn't seem any busier than usual. I'd almost say it was heavenly if that was a word which could possibly be used the the weekly shop.

Heyahun · 01/11/2020 16:36

I went out this afternoon to my local primark, h&m and new look In East London - no queues at all

Only shop with W queue was tk maxx

Witchend · 01/11/2020 16:46

Was quiet round here today.
Last weekend I went to B&Q and there was an hour queue to leave the car park.

PetNameChange · 01/11/2020 16:48

The town local to me was heaving!

Couldn’t get into Tesco car park let alone near the shop...wickes was heaving 🤷‍♀️ the wait time was over an hour to get into the shop, Waitrose was busy, had no loo roll 🙄 argos was chaos!

Home bargains was stripped...staff were getting very frustrated.

I could do with a trip to primark before the lockdown starts 🙄

itsovernowthen · 01/11/2020 17:03

I popped in to our local town at about 10.30am today. Car park was almost full. Queue in H&M was 15 people deep when I joined it at 10.45am. Went into a couple of other shops which weren't too busy, though, Waterstones and WHSmith. Costa was also doing a roaring trade.

Passed outside Boots, Wilko and Hobbycraft on the way back to the car at 11.30am, massive queues outside all of them. Car pack was rammed, and operating one in, one out. From my experience today, I'd say people are most definitely preparing for a long lockdown.

mum2jakie · 01/11/2020 17:09

M&S Food and Iceland both ok - no queues today. Went into a couple of local charity shops to pick up some books for lockdown - they were unusually open on a Sunday.

Planning to take a lunch break every day until Wednesday - as will be working from home - and nip into town to buy last few bits.

DriveThroughSwabber · 01/11/2020 17:10

I went to Lidl at lunchtime, it was busy but not panic-buying busy. However I think they may have to reintroduce a one-in/one-out queue as it was impossible to social distance.

FireUnderpants · 01/11/2020 18:36

Pet shop was very busy, same as the aquatic shop. But there more people were buying fish than food and equipment. For the first time in ages there was a queue for the fish room.

Costa coffee was quiet.

I have a huge shopping list for homebase, DD has several birthday gifts to buy so will brave B&M and were going to stock up at the library this week. Ideally I would like to fit in ikea, but I have a feeling it'll be nuts.

Crinkle77 · 01/11/2020 18:48

I went for brekkie at a local garden centre. We got there as soon as it opened so it wasn't too bad then but was starting to get really busy by the time we left. The waitress said it was busier than usual so can only assume it was people getting out before lockdown.

Crinkle77 · 01/11/2020 18:52

Went to Tesco after that and it was fairy busy but think that's standard for late Sunday morning.

Solongtoshort · 01/11/2020 19:19

I work in a shop, this morning l checked out the front the plants, baskets and things walked away maybe 10 mins later go to open the door the queue was huge and every person picked up toilet roll.
